Title: a few Mayberry R.F.D. captures
Post by retro on Jul 25th, 2009 at 3:37pm
Here are a few captures from Mayberry R.F.D. (also see my post in the main forum):

Andy and Helen return to  Mayberry with their new baby:

Andy Griffith's final scene in Mayberry R.F.D.:

The Taylor house set re-dressed as a Room & Board:

This sure doesn't look like Mayberry to me (after the
3rd season move to Warner Burbank studios...):

Sam Jones' new farmhouse at Warner Burbank...a set
which would not long afterward be home to "The Waltons"

where did Andy get the guitar in his "final scene" ? that is not the 'no pick guard martin' he is known to play. maybe he borrowed Sam's guitar. i must admit that as much as i loved TAGS , i never really got into RFD. i wish tvland would re-play those. i promice i would watch this time around.

Over the run of TAGS, Andy played more than one guit tar that was 'his' and one or more that weren't.
Some of the non-Face In TheCrowd guitars Andy played:  Don't know the makes or models:

At the lake with Elly, Barney and.... Who was that, Thelma Lou?  Only guit tar case I've seen.  Maybe it was his 'beater' guit tar for goin' to the lake.

At the Cabin with Helen, Howard and... And...  :-/   :-[   Maybe it was a 'cabin' guit tar.

At the Darling Cabin.  The one with only 5 strangs and what appears to be an applied 'hole' that is supposed to look like damage.  This one belonged to the Darling family.

Don't know if'n any of these belonged to Griffith or were props.

This Gazebo would be??? where the Hardware store stood across from the CH and the Church.  Right?

Likely a couple doors down from the Taylor house.

Ain't Urban Renewal somethin'?

The gazebo is on the Warner backlot.   The entire third season saw "Mayberry" relocated there, and 40 Acres abandoned.  :(

By golly you're right!  I was thinkin' the building with it's corner pokin' out of the RH side of the pic was the CH and the buildin' on the left was the church.  But. on closeter inspection... the Buildin' on the right is all wrong.  Looks more like Walker Drug store building... but it isn't really.

I was unaware that RFD moved to Warner studios.  Thanks for the correction Retro... and the pics.

Is the gazebo the one in the movie "The Ghost and Mr. Chicken" where Luther gives his thank you speech when the town honors him for bravery?

THE GHOST AND MR. CHICKEN was a Universal production. Its gazebo was on the Universal backlot.

If I'm not mistaken, the town square for RFD is the same one used later for "The Dukes of Hazzard" as it was also filmed at Warner's.

These are great pictures!  Sam Jones' house, which later became home to the Waltons was also the "Dragonfly Inn" on Gilmore Girls.
