Title: Andy Griffith Autobiography
Post by Dud Wash on Oct 20th, 2009 at 5:18pm
It was posted here a while back that Andy's autobiography was going to be released in August or September, I believe it was.  Well, that never happened.  Anyone know any information about the release?

I was so disappointed.  I was anxiously waiting to buy it, and now it won't be until next year.  What was the problem, anyone know?

Does Andy think something exciting will happen between now and then to add?? Maybe like his new movie coming out...

I sure hope it happens. From what I've heard, the delay has been because Andy Griffith has taken longer than expected to review, edit, and approve the final draft.

My Birthday!

I'll believe it when I see it on the shelf.

You know, we haven't really heard any thing out of Andy in a LONG time. As far as I can remember, the last I saw of him was was the Healthcare commercial from a couple of years ago. I really kind wonder if maybe his health is not good.  "He's no spring chicken any more." This might be a reason why he has not been able to finish the book. I would think if he were to release it, he would probaly want to be well enough to make a few publicity appearances to sell it (Today Show, ect. )I don't really  know anything, it's just a hunch.

I talked to the head publishing person from Thomas Nelson last fall and he said that the book is totally finished, but Andy will not give them to ok to sell it yet. The publisher's said that Andy has not given them any reasons to why nor demands on changing it or anything. He basically just shrugs his shoulders. I am calling the gentleman again today...

That is a shame, but thanks for letting us know something for sure about it. No doubt Andy Griffith has his reasons. We can only hope he has a change of heart.

This is getting like Charlie Brown/Lucy and the football. Also in some respects maybe if the book does get released, it might be a huge disappointment if it doesn't contain some of the inside information we all crave. Either way, I'll be there to get my copy..

He's stuck on the chapter titled "Mr Schwump, the man, the mystery" .
