Hey, now that's some cool stuff there, Dan. I read that she still owned that same Studebaker when she passed in 1989! |

That's true as far as I know the car is still located and on display at the Denton Farmpark in Denton NC were they hold the Southeast Old Threshers' Reunion. It is (or was) owned by Brown Loflin & Sean Bingham of Denton they paid around $20,000 for it at her estate sale in 1990. They would probably like to have all the car paper work of hers that I have. :)

That's correct, SWFguy, it was a 1955 Ford Fairlane, Sunliner model. Floyd: "Aunt Bee, may this be the start of many hours of smooth driving. May you glide over the highways like a swan, skimming across a lake." ` |

Yep...it was still there last time I went a few years ago. If I remember right it was green and was getting pretty well worn. |

That was a fabulous set of wheels that Aunt Bee owned and to think she was thinking about trading it in from the episode "Goober goes to the auto show" . Rafe

Wow, it's kind of funny and kinda hard for me to imagine Aunt Bee...or eh, Frances driving in Los Angeles traffic!!!! :o
P.S. I wonder why a big actress with that kind of money would drive that beat up old thing for nearly 20 years!! :-? |
Title: Re: Aunt Bea's car Post by widow bradshaw on Apr 27th, 2010 at 9:10pm
the story i heard was that it was a 'gift' in return for some personal appearances. it had not been driven in years and was a rust bucket with grass growing over it when she passed away. no matter who is telling the story, Aunt Bee's later years were not good ones.

Say Karl, where was that picture taken? Looks like some vehicle museum. A tractor behind it and some sort of machine next to it. :-?
