Back in my room I got a Dukes mayonaise jar with some spiders in it.  I bought them off one of the boys here in the day room that swore they was the same spiders that Gomer saw under the band stand....but I don't know for sure cause you can hear anything in the day room.  If they ain't authentic then I reckon I'm out half a can of potted meat and 3 ceegar bands.  mmmmhhhh

Mine's authenticized!  :D Aunt Bee had a small china cupboard with the blue willow dishes in it....if you bought all of them that was sold on E-bay that are listed as props from TAGS you'd need at least 20 china cupboards!  :o

Uncle Nat, you have been awful kind to me so if you need a letter authenticating the authenticity of any authentic letter of authenticity that needs authentiating, you just let me know.  We got some boys in here in the day room with so many different personalities that I am sure I can get one of them to swear he was the prop master on the show.  I'll write it and he can sign it.  Heck, if you want, I can probably get one of them to swear he is Mr. Schwamp.  You just let me know.  It is the least I can do for a friend.  He's working up a letter on my spiders right now.

There are several versions of this poster. The variations are situated around the upper left hand logo. There are three bottles or jars. One to the left, right and bottom.
These are not always the same. I believe that there are 3 variations that were produced throughout the years...

I'd 'preciate it! How about I visit ya. That way I can watch them make the authenticity letter so's I can authenticate in person that the authenticity letter is authentic! No need to authenticate my pickles! Shoo fly...he's dead! ;D Them flies don't have a chance knowing there's 8 quarts of these here pickles in their future!  :)

Karl.....besides the hair cut poster, I have the one directly behind the barber chair, on the back wall. It has a cartoon type barber with a bottle tilted to one side. Also shaving mugs and brushes and bottles from the corner shelf unit. Misc. Razors, scissors,
Razor strop in leather. One Broken bottle of aftershave, now in a plastic contained..
I guess that I have the only OFFICIAL SMELL or SCENT of TAGS..............?
I believe also some linen or towels, and wisk broom........... Oh, and the Exterior Barber Sign..

Thank ye.  I'd been a studyin' that you had it.   If you need any authenticating papers then feel free to come on up to the day room with Uncle Nat and we can fix ye up.  Visitin's day is the first Sunday of the month which is next week.  I'm allowed two visitors a  month but since nobody ever comes I reckon you and Nat can get in just fine.  Just tell them you are friends of Karl.  If you wants to bring some of your barberin' tools you might pick up a little spendin' money too.   mmmhhhhh

Flat top with fenders, I actually had my hair like that a long time ago. I remember seeing those posters in a few barber shops where I'd get my hair cut back in the late 50's. Drinking out of "dipper" was something I first saw at my Great Uncle's farm in New Brunswick when I was a young boy. All great memories.

How in the world did you come by so many authentic props?  Do they have letters of authenticity or some paperwork (sorry, been watching a lot of Pawn Stars lately)?  I would LOVE to own a real piece of Mayberry.  I guess my first choice would be the candlestick phone from the courthouse.  I do have a rock I picked up in a ditch adjacent to a parking lot in Pelham, AL that i asked Howard Morris to sign.  I don't actually tell people that Ernest T. hefted through a window in Mayberry but if they think it, I don't exactly rush to set them straight!  That's the closest thing I have.

When the show closed, and after a period of time I was able, thru my studio connection, to acquire a bunch of props from the studio from TAGS, Also picked up more items at the auction afterwards.
I do have the ORIGINAL one and Only Courthouse Phone.......... I even have a BRICK panel About
3 feet by 4 feet from the exterior wall above Floyd's Barber shop.  AND BARNEY"S COURTHOUSE CHAIR.......

A sad part of the story: I actually bought and paid for............. The JAIL Cell COTS....And The JAIL CELL DOOR PANELS.......... Because of the size I had to come back for Pick -up................
   Gone,,, Yes Gone......... The cots could not be found and I was told that the Jail Cell Doors were going to be used on an upcoming new show. So I was repaid           ?          I am not sure but was told that the cell doors plus additional doors were going to be used on Mission Impossible..........

What a great collection, Imagineer!

You are certainly fortunate to have so many actual props from such a classic show.

Too bad about the cell doors and cots...it would've been fun to recreate the courthouse/jail in your basement (complete with a dummy of Otis lying on one of the cots).

Imagineer, you always make us so jealous. Good for you though! Correct me if I am wrong, but you purchased these around 1970? Or did the studio sell them at a later date?

I got items in a few different ways.
After the show closed and props were released on sort of a quiet basis then on different occasions and auctions. All of the TAGS stuff was not auctioned at one time, just different lots. Some of these were from the shows studio, some from a auction clearing house mixed with other studios.
I acquired, through a period of time, props from other shows in order to trade for TAGS items...
I had props that were eventually traded or sold for TAGS props from: Green Acres. later from MASH
Disney Props, Petticoat Junction..... etc.
Spent a lot of time and money and fun and aggravation, joy and disappointment collecting these items.

Ooooh, Green Acres props!   :D

What ones do you have?  I, personally, would love to have that high back chair that graced the living room, the leopard couch and that cubism painting that hung in their New Yawk apartment that shows up from time to time in the Douglas's walls.  That and Eb's Monkey on a swing.  ;)
