Title: Mayberry Alternate Universe
Post by Leonard on Jun 22nd, 2011 at 7:51pm
No offense meant with this video, I'm a huge fan of the show.  This is just a Tarantino-esque version of Mayberry.

Some good editing choices there.  I missed the "I'm in for keeps" part of the final quote, though.

Wow, thanks for the good reviews everybody.  Was kind of worried that the way Andy is portrayed in the video might upset some.  This was just my deranged attempt at combining my two favorite things, The Andy Griffith Show and Tarantino.  I'd also been wondering for years why Andy went through so many girlfriends the first few seasons, now we all know :)

It was incredibly fun to make (the best part being that I had to watch a LOT of Andy Griffith).  If anyone has any ideas on other clip videos for TAGS let me know, I'd love to put something together.

Leonard, maybe you could do a trailer for "The Day the Beasts Came Down From the Hills," and show a compilation of every bad guy who ever plotted to do evil in Mayberry.

Hysterical!  Great job!

It also shows how you can take a piece of a conversation and build a scenario around it, which Barney was doing all the time.

Am I remembering wrong:  Wasn't the county nurse labeled "Bonnie" another Mary?  She would have been a good wife for Andy.

From one Leonard to another, I loved it. Very "progressive".

Haha!  I bow to the original Leonard.

Thelma Lou, very good catch.  Yes, she was one of two actresses who played Mary the nurse.  Since I couldn't have two Marys I decided to rename her.  Bonnie the nurse is an unseen character in two Tarantino films so that's what I renamed her.

Clyde, consider it in the works.  And since you suggested it, you can count on your namesake making a few appearances.

Thanks!  Gee... do you really think you can find any scenes where Allan Melvin plays a bad guy?  ;)

Ok, finished this one pretty quick.  What I did was to go onto youtube and find the worst and campiest 1970's action movie trailer I could find.  I found one called Copkillers.  Then I extracted all of the audio and then the  ratings portion of the video at the beginning and the end.  I filled in the rest with TAGS clips and here is the result.  The audio is completely untouched and that's what I think makes the video.

Also, here's the original clip for the real Copkillers trailer.  It's almost as funny as the one I made.

I love this kinda stuff. Leonard, are you a fan of  "Something Weird" video? They're a company that's taken about every B movie ever made and transferred to dvd. Loaded with flicks like "Cop Killers".

I sent "The Deadly Game" to a good friend that is into the same  and he said it was the best Mayberry spoof he's ever seen. Trust me, that is a great compliment from this guy.  ;)

Keep up the great work!  [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

That is good. I think my favorite is Andy telling Barney, "I'm gonna kill you".

Title: Re: Mayberry Alternate Universe
Post by Leonard on Jun 26th, 2011 at 6:11pm
Two of my favorite parts too.  I was so thrilled when I found the "I'm going to kill you" quote.  It actually came from one of the color episodes...the one where Goober was living with Andy while Aunt Bee and Opie were gone.  Goober's bad message taking caused Andy to have to eat three spaghetti dinners in one night so Andy was actually saying it to Goober.

The censoring that I did to Andy at the end was a last second thing....it came to me right as I was getting ready to upload the video to youtube.  Glad you liked it...actually I'm glad everyone liked it (with maybe the exception of Phil), by the way Phil I am working on one that makes Tarantino a little more Mayberryesque  ;D  Should have it in a few days.

So Leonard, as talented as you obviously are, will you be "creating" any "new" TAGS episodes for us?

Title: Re: Mayberry Alternate Universe
Post by Leonard on Jun 26th, 2011 at 9:39pm
New episode?  Good idea.  Sounds really hard though.  It took forever to make my first one and its only 6 minutes.  To make an entire episode with dialog and everything would be extremely hard....not impossible, but hard.  I'll think about it though, it would be nice to see a new episode after all these years.

By the way, I'm not so much talented as I am demented :)

I know what you mean, Leonard, I've been working on a dialogue only episode for over a year and it's only 15 minutes long at present. BTW, I enjoyed the video and look forward to your future offerings.

Yes she is, but the angle is only from the back.  We never see her face.

Would love to read your episode when its done!

I received a comment from Phil that Quentin Tarantino needs to be a little more Mayberry-esque.  I think I have managed to do this, I call it Pulp Mayberry.  Enjoy!

That's hilarious.  That voice is exactly how I would picture Barney singing that song.

I'm working on a musical number myself, had the idea for it today and have just a little bit done.  I was just in the grocery store with my wife and every time I'd think about it I'd start laughing out loud.  Can't wait to finish it.

Actually, I'm doing it with sound bytes edited together. It started out as just a 30 second project, but I keep thinking of lines that fit well and make it funnier so it's gotten quite large. I don't even know where it's going to end as I have no script, but when I think it's finished, I'll upload it somewhere and post a link. Thanks for the interest.
