Nuclear accident at Three Mile Island

At 4 a.m. on March 28, 1979, the worst accident in the history of the U.S. nuclear power industry begins when a pressure valve in the Unit-2 reactor at Three Mile Island fails to close.

Cooling water, contaminated with radiation, drained from the open valve into adjoining buildings, and the core began to dangerously overheat.

I was with my brother delivering parts at 3 Mile Island for John Deere the day before it happened! Aunt Nat had 2 relatives who lived about 1/2 mile from 3MI die from throat and lung cancer! It was blamed on working around Asbestos but to this day her family still blames it on 3MI! I've been within a couple hundred ft. of 3MI many of times I play a golf course in Harrisburg that you have to drive right by 3MI to get to it.

One wrong move and we'll all go PLOOWIE!
