March 01, 2005 - Msg 27346: Here is a cute Mayberry-like story:

A little boy walks into a drugstore and sets himself on one of the stools at the soda fountain.
"How much does a chocolate sundae cost?" he asks the busy waitress.
"50 cents," she says.
He reaches deep into his pockets pulling out a few coins that he carefully counts.
"How much for just a plain ice cream?" he shyishly asks.
Now a little impatient, the waitress responds with a quick
"40 cents!" After all, she has "more important" customers to wait on.
Again, the boy counts his money,
"Then, may I please have just plain ice cream in a dish?" When she finally brings him the order, he gives her the correct amount.
Later, the waitress returned to clear the boy's dish, and when she picked it up, there were two nickels! She then realized that he had had enough money all along for the sundae, but sacrificed it so that he could leave her a tip!
HAVE A GOOD DAY,
MDC

March 01, 2005 - Msg 27349: Afternoon HONIES!

Well, it sure is white around these here parts! It is just so beautiful though. Every branch on every tree is coated with snow, and it gets so quiet with all this snow. I guess the snow muffles all the sounds out there. (Did I say snow enough times up there?)

Alyce, I will be praying that you are directed to the perfect schooling situation for your precious daughter.

MDC, I loved that little story! As Jesus said, "Suffer the little children". And when we do, we are always blessed!

Floyd, prayers for Jan and her surgery, may God direct her physician's hands.

Homemaker, I will be praying for you also, may God direct your physician's hands as well. You must be one heck of a lady to go trudging out in the snow and muck to feed that little goat, so you recover quickly for his(her?) sake! As well as the rest of your family! ;)

Hey Asa, how's things at your end of the porch? How's that little puppy you got a while back doing? He must be a full fledged fur-kid by now!

I'll be requesting your prayers for our trip to Oklahoma. We are leaving at daybreak tomorrow, and we could sure use some traveling mercies, (and a mashed penny ;)) as well as God showing his favor on Pat and his artwork. He has worked so hard, and I would love to see him do well. He is a good man!

I guess I won't be posting again for a week or so, while we are away. If you want to check the art show out on line it is natureworks.org Sorry I don't know how to do links! Thanks for all your support everyone!

Have a wonderful Mayberry eve!

Good to see you too RevJr - do you all have Curlies BBQ around there - that's the new thing in our Krogers deli - pretty good stuff but I have to get it when it is on sale - high priced! Making some homemade veggie soup with a really good roast (no stew meat here) - anyone care for a bowl?

I do feel at peace about this one program that I have already signed her up for and paid for (did this before I asked for prayer)...I had to do that to hold the spot ...there were only four spaces left. But anyway...after all that and rquesting prayer..I called another program..in which she had been on the waiting list since last fall..and they encouraged me to proceed with another school. Their's is very popular and doesnt hold many students and it seems like she isnt going to get into it. So I am at a peace for now...And so excited!

HM- when we do a "tasting" at grocery stores, sometimes we "cheat" and make crockpot bbq. Get a pork tenderloin, put about a quarter of an inch of water in the crockpot, put the loin in, put the setting on low and let it cook for 6 to 7 hours. When you take it out it'll fall apart. I've been to Mexico once, but we visited just across the border of California to Tijuana(don't know if that's spelled right). I hated it. Parents had their kids all over the place using them to try to sell you things, besides all the shopkeepers trying to get you into their shops. I don't like being constantly harrassed when I go somewhere. I was glad to get back to the good old USA, let me tell you. Hope your son's not going there to Tijuana; it's one big open-market.

March 04, 2005 - Msg 27445: Thanks Rev. Jr.

Good for you, Dixie! You deserve to relax!

I just learned that my parents were in a car accident, on the way out to or coming back from Walmart. They were turning left and some guy smacked into them. They're ok as far as I know. My Dad is home but my Mom is at the hospital with some neck pain I guess. My sister said that they had her in one of those spongy neck things and wanted to do some tests, but said she should probably be home in a few hours after those tests are done.
I know Doctors like to be painfully thorough and everything. But it still worries me though. They aren't exactly spring chickens anymore.
I wish I had a car here to go pick her up when they're done as their car is obviously in the shop now.
I'd like to walk down there with Kai to cheer her up, but I don't know where she would be(having tests or whatnot). And I'm sure she doesn't have a room just being there for tests.
I hate that she is down there alone. My brother is working and my sister has to look after my other brother's(who's also working) 1 year old, so they can't be down there.
So I'm just sitting here waiting for news.
I guess the waiting is the hardest part, as the song goes.
