November 28, 2008 - Msg 68264: Afternoon Porch, everybody doing good today? Hope nobody has a belly ache from eating too much. I'm having a lazy day on the couch today & thought I would stop by & rock a few minutes before I curled up under the blanket here on the couch. Mr Neff is at the repair shop working today & says they are so busy it's not funny, guess, all the women are out shopping & the men are getting the cars worked on, oil changes & the like. For the record, there is no way on this green earth I would get out in that mess of shopping today, heard on the radio there was a huge fight at WalMart over some electronic toy first thing this morning here in Bristol, that is just crazy! Anyways, I'm gonna watch some tv & have some hot chocolate, anybody else want some. Hazel if you sent me an email, I haven't seen it yet, k9hairstyles @ aol.com

Really! rub it on the sore places & apply heat, either with a heating pad or moist heat & it really works. My ankles & back have been giving me fits lately & Mr Neff rubbed it on my back & ankles last night, & I'm not hurting near as bad as I normally do today. Who would have guessed?

November 28, 2008 - Msg 68266:
Hey Folks

Wow, we're having one of Asa's winters so far this year and winter doesn't even start for another 3 weeks. We've had over 70 inches of snow so far this year already. Needless to say, but the countertops never made it in the other day. Their truck got stuck at the bottom of the drive so we get a do over Monday. BUT, the weather dude is calling for another foot of snow that morning. Sorry, for stopping by and mostly belly aching, complaining seem to be my speciality lately.

Spot -Mrs. auh2o left the house this morning at 4 am, Miss Sherry beat her by an hour.

Mavis-Down state a Wal Mart greeter was killed when the crowd knocked the doors down and charge in, right over the top of the poor guy.

Romeena-That is strange when ya see life styles change so much when someone remarries. I have noticed that type of thing a few times over the years.

I'm not following the Pringles chat. I'll have to go back and see what I missed.

November 28, 2008 - Msg 68267: Castor oil?? Yuck! The memories I have of castor oil have nothing whatsoever to do with aching joints. My mother may have had some aches and pains after she spent the afternoon trying to chase me down to give me my "spring dose". Actually, it may have been on one of those occasions when I learned that she could climb a pecan tree almost as well as I could. The only thing that always saved me when I chose a tree as my refuge was the fact that I was lighter and could climb on smaller limbs than she could. One time I went up the tree to avoid getting my hair shampooed (yes, I was a bit of a brat) and she followed me up the tree with a long bamboo fishing pole in her hand, and proceeded to poke me with the pole until I finally came down. Then she pulled a switch off a jasmine hedge and wore me out with it. Which she most certainly was justified in doing.

Yippee, the hospital just called and gave me the night off! Now I can finish my preparations for tomorrow at a leisurely pace, and do a little cleaning up around here. Then I can actually go to bed and get some sleep tonight so I won't be a zombie tomorrow, and can actually enjoy having my granddaughter here and getting to know her fiance'.

I've been getting a lot of prep work done. I make my own cranberry sauce, and it's done and chilling. I made a jello salad - lime jello, pineapple and cottage cheese, my son loves it and so do I - and the fruit is all draining for the fruit salad.

Now I'll chop the onions and celery for the stuffing and will make it up in the morning. The turkey is almost thawed out in the fridge, should be about complete by morning. The dressing will be steaming hot (I mix it up with boiling broth) when I put it in the bird, and will insure that it all cooks well all the way through. I've always cooked my stuffing inside and around the turkey. Oh, the flavors!!

Well, off I go. Still have much to do. Have a lovely weekend, everyone. --Romeena

November 28, 2008 - Msg 68271: Good evening my family, I hope everyone had a good Friday. I had to work as usual but it was a decent day. Mavis I'm with you girl, I did the black Friday thing twice and swore I'd never do it again! We went to the Wal-Mart to get a TV we thought we couldn't survive without and I wanted one of the small crock pots they always have on sale, and wound up in a fight with some little old granny woman over my crock pot, she was trying to get it out of my buggy, and kept ramming my buggy with hers. Unreal!! The kicker of the whole thing was the entire time this was going on, they were playing The Most Wonderful Time of the Year on the radio LOL. But I cant believe it's gotten to the point that people are killing people over it. Calling for rain here tomorrow too sounds like it's gonna be a wet weekend, then turn to snow Sunday night. Yuck!! I hope you all have a good weekend, I'm off to the ironing board--Salty Dog

November 29, 2008 - Msg 68272: Auh2o, you wanna hear how sick I am? When you told the story about the WalMart greeter getting killed by the early shoppers, I wanted to bust out laughing. What on earth is wrong with me? I think I am beyond the point of exhaustion or something. It really is sad, though, not funny. His poor family.

Wow, I can't believe little Andy is 17, SPOT! Where does the time go?

Sounds like a wondeful day, REV.

That is some story, Salty Dog...granny must have been a crack pot to be fighting over a crock pot!

Well, we had the youth party tonight at church and the kids made ornaments and decorated their classroom. The tree looked very pretty. I am ready for bed, but wanted to check in since I am leaving early in the morning for the Houston area. I will be back some time on Sunday night, so you may not hear from me until Monday. Hope you all have a wonderful weekend, and please remember my Sean in your prayers. He has been going through a tough time. He is just not like other kids his age and doesn't fit in. He said tonight that he feels like a loser who can't learn anything. He said, "I just want to feel loved", which was very sad. I said, "You know I love you, don't you?". He said, "Yes, it's just other people I'm not sure about, like Dad. I think to him I am just a big embarrassment". I don't know what I can do anymore about that. I have tried talking to Bruce, but nothing ever seems to change. I think my next move will be to get some counseling for all of us together. Bruce has got to learn how to reach Sean before that window closes. After Sean gets hurt often enough, he will shut his heart against Bruce. Bruce doesn't try to hurt Sean and he loves him, he tells him that but he has this way about him that feels like conditional love. I experience the same thing sometimes. We have talked about it many times and things get better for awhile and then it is a problem again. We are all trying, but things aren't really getting better.
Please pray for my boy and for our family. Thank you so much.

I'll check back when I can.

I'm laughing trying to picture Ro scrambling up that tree! And the fact that your mama climbed up after you with a stick-funny!
I saw on the news last night about the Walmart worker getting trampled to death. My question to those people is how can they enjoy Christmas knowing their GREED caused a person's death? I guess some folks just don't care.
Boo, I hate to hear of Sean's struggles.Certainly,I will hold him in my prayers.
Hey Spot,I have a 17 year old nephew named Andy! We have something in common besides being 70's YOUTS!
Mavis,I might try some castor oil.I have heard that it works on aches & pains. I was lucky,my mom swore she would never give her children castor oil, because she got regular doses of it (like Ro did) as a child. Lucky me!

November 29, 2008 - Msg 68275: Good morning Porchters.
Sorry for my absence. I have just been very busy as of late and limiting my on-line time. Trying to get a lot of these end of season and end of year jobs wrapped up at work. Whew!
I have just read this page of posts. Will try and read the archives later if time allows.

First off Boo, I really pray for you and your family. The situation you describe with Bruce and Sean is so very prevelant today for some reason. I'm not sure why it is us men have such a hard time expressing verbally our love for our family. I guess it's a man thing. Many men look upon not what they say, but rather what they do as showing love, as weak as that may sound. You might mention that to Sean, explain how Bruce works so very hard in providing for you all. That is an active demonstration of his love for his family. But you hit it dead on when you mention that "window" and how it will close. That is so very correct, and somehow you have to make Bruce see that. Because when that window is closed, it's pretty hard to reopen.
I remember one of my Church leaders telling a story of how when he and his wife were first married and had built a home, they would plant tree's every year on their property. Many of them. He talks about planting one one year and neglecting the fact that it was slighty crooked when he planted it. Although he knew it, and planned to return and straighten it out, life got busy and he didn't get back to it. One day, several years later, he looked out upon his domain and noticed this once small tree was now large. And the once slight lean to it was now massive and noticable. So one Saturday morning he put on work gloves and clothes prepared to straighten out this tree. But alas, it wouldn't budge. Where it was once very nimble and flexible, and could have easily been manipulated with a small piece of string, it was now firm and solid and unmovable, even with cable and chain and come-a-longs. With much effort, and much time, he was able to get the tree straighter, he realised had he done what he should have done when the tree was small and easily manipulated, how much easier it would have been. He used this analogy in child rearing, and I thought was right on. Anyway, I pray Bruce will realise what he needs to be doing before Seans roots get to established, and thet Sean will know his Dad loves him. You are a good influence Boo. Don't give up.

Ro, you talk about your homemade Cranberry sauce. I always think of the episode of Fraiser when Daphne is making Thanksgiving dinner for the Cranes and has gone to all the trouble of making Cranberry sauce and Martin is just aghast because the cranberries are supposed to hold the shape of the can. He asks her so frustrated, "Is it that you can't learn or won't learn?" Funny scene.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Ours was good.

I should be able to be on here more now. Things have calmed down some at work.... I hope.

Love ya all.

November 30, 2008 - Msg 68284: Good morning, my friends! I have begun receiving addresses - so far I have five. My plan is to compile them into a Word file, which I can then send as an attachment to those who are participating. With all that's been going on this week, I haven't started that file yet, but I've been saving the emails in a sub-folder within my email program. I'll probably wait a few more days, to get as many responses in as I can, then will send it out. Then when any more come in, it will be a simple matter to send them out. Don't you just love email? No stamps, nothing needed but a few keystrokes.

It's 47 out there today, cloudy and windy. My yardman had my yard perfectly clean and tidy on Wednesday, and by Thursday morning it had a lot of leaf litter. Now, you can barely see the grass! It would be nice if all the leaves would just drop at once, but they won't. It'll take them until after Christmas to all fall. I guess that's a good thing as far as my yardman is concerned - keeps him busy, and therefore, getting paid. Actually, there's one big sycamore that hasn't even started dropping yet. It usually holds on until everybody else is finished and the yard has been given a "final" cleanup, then it just dumps the whole load of leaves in about two hours, or so it seems. It's a big tree, and when it unloads, the whole yard is covered again. My sons just hated that tree when they were the "yardmen".

Granddaughter and her fiance' are still here, going back this morning. I like him, he seems to be a very nice young man. Very easy to know, friendly and open. Looks like the wedding will be sometime in April, here in my back yard. Looking back over picture files, it appears that April is when everything is at it's freshest and prettiest.

Well, gotta run. Have a great Sabbath, everyone. --Romeena

Speaking of being blessed(to quote Starr), I came upon the high school sign on a bike ride this past week, and on the marquee it said "Have a Blessed Thanksgiving". I thought I was seeing things so I had to wait until it scrolled back around to confirm it.
It just surprised me because this is a public school, and I didn't think they were allowed to use the word "Blessed". Too many religious connotations, don't cha'know. ;)

possum

December 01, 2008 - Msg 68306: Thanks Possum, I love you too. You are a good friend. Everything is ok. I guess when I asked you all to pray for Sean, I should have known how quickly God might answer your prayers. There is a good side and a rotten side to this story, but if things get better, it will all be worth it. Bruce loves his family very much, but as I mentioned before, he has some anger issues that he has not dealt with and (again) he has not been taking his blood pressure medicine and the stress on the job is back at top notch. He did get a good job evaluation and a bonus 2 weeks ago, but he thinks he has to practically kill himself to stay on top of things. The other night I suggested he find a new job and he told me that at age 50, and with his hearing getting worse he is very lucky to have the job he has. I guess I understand that he is under alot of stress, and he also worries alot about Sean's problems and wants to have a better relationship with him. Last night, though, he got angry about something and blew a gasket. It was frightening. We had to have a long talk today about some changes that need to be made in our family, for all of our sakes. I didn't realize how much he is hurting over Sean. I told him that if he didn't deal with what is eating him up, and if he doesn't take his BP meds, he is going to die. I also told him that he has to get counseling because I can't put the kids through the turmoil and insecurity that his anger causes. He agreed to counseling and to letting everything else go that he can and focusing on his family. He has been absent from us emotionally for a long time and we are all suffering from it. I think for the first time in our marriage, he finally "gets it". I heard his sitting at the table with Sean today and asking him, "Son what do you like to do..and I don't mean, what do you think I want you to like to do. What do YOU like to do? I want a good relationship with you son and I love you". They started to talk about things they can do together and they came up with quite alot. I feel like more than anything else, progress was made towards Bruce forming a loving relationship with Sean, and that is what I asked prayer for. Thank you for your prayers on our behalf...that answer was so quick, it felt like a whiplash. It wasn't easy, but we are working in the right direction.

MDC.....I wasn't going to say anything because I thought it was just my lack of smarts, but I also noticed the "Office of the President-Elect" and was thinking the same thing as you. To me that looks so stupid.

Spot....stay warm over there in your dog house brother. You got plenty of hay to keep warm?

Lucy.....glad you made it back safely from your trip. I'm sorry to hear about your uncle. Prayers!

Me-They......good to see ya back buddy. We kept your rocker dusted off.

Well you all have a blessed night and a Jesus filled day tomorrow. Praying for all the porch family.

December 02, 2008 - Msg 68308: Thanks REV. God give us the strength to follow through on the things we need to do.

Lucy, hope you can check back in soon and tell us all the news. We don't hear from you enough.

I'm sleepy this morning...I was awakened at 3am by a crying Gizzy....there I was standing out in the backyard in my nightgown, freezing, waiting for a constipated Chihuhua to go to the bathroom.

Well, plenty to do today, starting with getting Erin up for school. I keep Baby Emily today so I have to be prepared for that (remove the breakables from toddler reach and secure the kitchen!). She is one active little tike.

December 02, 2008 - Msg 68309: Good Morning Porch! We got snow here on my end of the porch, not alot, just enough to make the ground white, but it sure is pretty. Makes me thankful that I have my grooming shop in the basement & I don't have to go out driving anywhere today.
Boo if little Gizzy is still constipated, you can give him a little bit of canned pumpkin (about a teaspoon or so) & it will help things move along. Make sure it's plain pumpkin, not the pumpkin pie mix.

December 02, 2008 - Msg 68310: Good morning, porch! Boo, a constipated Chihuahua?? That is just hilarious! I don't know why that phrase strikes me as so funny, but it does. Something about the way you delivered the line...

Anybody out there fighting the Christmas light wars? Got a string that just won't stay lit, or that has one section out? Tempted to throw them away, or worse yet, have to take them down off the house or off the tree before throwing them away? Well, have I got an answer for you!! Go to Home Depot and buy a little device called "Lightkeeper PRO". It's $18.88, and it works! It really works! I won't go into detail, you can read the directions, but trust me - it works! It will restore a string that has a section out, and you don't even have to locate the bad bulb. Of course, if it's a missing bulb, or the fuse, it won't fix that, but it fixes those "mystery" outages. So nice to find a product that really does what it advertises it will do.

Well, got things to do, places to go, people to see. Blessings, friends. --Romeena

December 02, 2008 - Msg 68311: Good morning everyone. Well, I guess I lied. I wasn’t able to read the archives or post again yesterday after all. Work, work, work. And, contrary to popular belief, my number one job isn’t fly-killin’. I did have a chance this morning to skim the archives, so if I’ve missed something I apologize. Thanks for missing me; sure makes a guy feel good.

BOO: It seems your prayer request was fast-tracked. I hope (and will continue to pray) that things work out for Bruce and Sean and for your whole family. All families have their demons, and it seems like you all are making the effort to get yours cast out, so to speak. I think that’s great that Bruce sat down with Sean. Nothing like a good air-clearing. I hope that your day is easy today. I won’t even throw you my shorts.

Constipated chihuahua? That reminds me of something I heard the guy who appears in "Man versus Wild" say last night about an experience he had. I won't go into any details, but it involved him hanging high up in a tree having eaten a snake that did not agree with his internal organs, and having no option of making it to teh ground in time.

ROMEENA: I read something about your being the social secretary, but I must have missed what that is about. What’s going on? Huh-huh-huh?

STERLING: We can’t forget that there are many people of faith teaching and administrating in our public schools. They do what they can, when they can. Still, the sign would have caused me a second look, too.

AUH2O & ASA: Whatcha think about the Obama picks? Looks like he’s tacking center. I figure if conservative pundits are shoveling less on him and liberal pundits are getting red-faced, things must be going in the right direction (no pun intended). It seems that he’s shaping up as a pragmatist, if nothing else.

Okay, who bit the head off the shepherd in the candy Nativity display?

I’ll be back later.

December 02, 2008 - Msg 68313: One more thing -- about the Christmas card list. I'd really like to just send the list out once, so if you want your address on it so folks can send you a card, email me your snail address ASAP. I've received several, but still a lot I don't have. Even if you're thinking I have your address, please send it again. That confirms that I have the correct one, and the way I'm compiling the list, it will be much easier this way.

Also, just because I have your mailing address doesn't necessarily imply that you would want me to share it with everyone, so unless I get the email giving me that permission, your name won't be on the list. --Romeena

December 02, 2008 - Msg 68314: Me-They, 68313 will answer your question, I think, but to be sure - anyone who wants to send/receive Christmas cards from porch friends can email me their snail address. I'll compile them into one list, which will be emailed to everyone who is on the list. Not on the list, you don't get the list. Understood and accepted if anyone doesn't want to participate, it's strictly voluntary.

And no, the Lightkeeper PRO isn't a Popeil product - it works too well! There is a first generation product, just called the Lightkeeper, but the second generation, Lightkeeper PRO, has features the first one doesn't. My son was just doing the happy dance around the yard when he found it how well it works. --Romeena

December 02, 2008 - Msg 68320: Hey to the Porch.
Romeena, You can add me to the list. I think you have my snail mail a.d. but I'll send it to you when I get home. Thanks.

That Lightkeeper device sounds like a dream. I saw it advertised on tv over the weekend. Sounded to good to be true. Thanks for giving us the official verification.

M.T. I'll take a wait and see on Obama. I must admit, some of his choices have surprized me. Some have not. But the Clintons are starting to remind me of Uncle Ollie and Aunt Nora. They just won't go away. I hear rumblings he may be named to replace her Senate seat. I had a pimple once in a place I won't mention. It took forever for it to go away too. :)

I'm sorry no one from your family visited with you Tom. You always have us here when you get lonely.

Auh2o. Your getting all our snow, and that's ok by me. We are getting a little storm here tonight, but just bringing rain in the valleys and snow in the mountains. That's the way things ought to be. It was near 60 here yesterday. Unheard of for December.

Asa

December 02, 2008 - Msg 68321: That's funny about the Uncle Ollie and Aunt Nora reference. Even more funny that it's one of my favorite episodes. Guess it goes to show that I suppose I am obtuse after all.

And I'd like to correct my 70s era Mr. Microphone reference; it was "Hey good lookin', whatcha doin' later?"

Sorry, TOM. Like ASA said, you have friends here even if we can only be with you in spirit.

I wonder where AFD has gotten off to? She usually drops by periodically, but hasn't been by in quite a while. I hope that all is okay. ASA: I know she sometimes posts to otehtr boards that you sometimes do, too. Have you heard anything?

I'd like to ask for your prayers. We've been having an attitude issue with Nora lately. She's very strong willed anyway, and recently she is just a mass of sass and vinegar. Actually, it goes deeper than "bad attitude," and she's really having self-control issues. No measures we've taken so far have seemed to help much. Any prayers or advice you can offer are appreciated.

"See" y'all tomorrow.

even trying to insinuate possession), it justs sounds to me like they need to be given the what for and then ask the Lord to surround her with His angels and His hedge of protection.
TOM- prayers for you. As asa said, you always have us and also the Lord and His love.

December 02, 2008 - Msg 68325: I am so sorry nobody came to visit you TOM. Is there any way you can go to them on Christmas?

Thanks Me-They, it's so good to have you back on the porch again. I always miss you (and ASA!) when you are away. (funny about the Ron Popeil thing!). I'll bet I know why you like the Unle Ollie and Aunt Nora episode...because you were, "Handsome as a man, handsome as a boy, handsome, handsome, handsome!"..hehe. On a serious note, though, I feel your pain concerning Nora. Erin is a huge challenge daily, for alot of the same reasons. God help us. I am always looking for advice but don't always have many answers. Prayer for your situation.

OK, MDC, lets throw another good year record on the turntable and have some eggnog.

Glad I made you laugh, Romeena, and thanks for the advice, Mavis...pumpkin, who woulda thought?

Hello porch family....another cold day.

M-T....you can bet I'll be praying for Nora (and you).

Tom.....if the roads were bad it may be best that she didn't come out. We'll just pray that they make it over to see you during Christmas. Of course we are always here on the porch...our big ole family. And so glad that you are a part of it!

Spot....I've got a short tour this weekend in Jacksonville, Fla then I'm home for the holidays.

Boo....Praise the Lord! That's great news.......but I hope Sean doesn't win all of Bruce's money. hehe
You know I'm still praying for you!

You all have a good night's rest. I'm praying for all the porch family.

December 03, 2008 - Msg 68329: Hi, everybody. Just got home a little while ago. My son was over at Eloise's house today, getting her Christmas lights up. She's his mother-in-law, you know, and he's as good to her as he is to me, bless his little heart. She's good to him, too.

Anyway, I went over too, and with all three of us working, we got her lights up and it looks so pretty. The Lightkeeper PRO didn't let us down. She had several sections out on her icicle lights, but the little red gun zapped them back on in a flash. Amazing!

Eloise's husband, Jerry, didn't get home from work until about 7, and we all went to dinner then. I stopped back by the house to leave Starr off, and discovered that part of my roof lights weren't working (a fuse in one of the lines) so David came back home with me after dinner and fixed them. I don't know what I'd do without that boy. Tomorrow, he'll spend the entire day (finally) getting the lights up at his own house. He always takes care of the two moms first.

Mine are almost complete. Still need twinkles around the deer in the back yard, and have a lighted cross and a Nativity to put together and set up out front. They're easy, I can do them myself - will probably get that done tomorrow. Then I work tomorrow night and Thursday night, so will be mostly absent until Friday. Tree will go up over the weekend.

Prayers for all the needs. Me-They, I'm sorry Nora is giving you trouble right now. She's how old?? I'm sure you've tried this, but often isolation helps a bad attitude. You know the drill - "No one wants to be around you when you're behaving like that, so until you can be pleasant, you can remain in your room, meals and all if necessary." Might work - yeah, but it might not.

Be blessed, all. --Romeena

December 03, 2008 - Msg 68330: Good deal brother Rev! hey Romeena...gona be full force with crosses and lights tomorrow night!...no left overs!...made a ham sandwich...breakfast:..waffle house on Asa...I will park cars...prayers...SPOT

December 03, 2008 - Msg 68331: Good morning everybody. Waffle house sounds good Spot. I'll be there. It sure is cold this morning. Had to make it to work in the snow Monday morning and it was no fun I tell ya. I dont like driving in that stuff. Hearing you all talk about Christmas lights makes me want to decorate too, and I've not even put a tree up in years now. It's just me and the hubby and we just hadn't fooled with it. A couple of scrooges we are lol. Good to see our wayward ones come back around again. Asa you crack me up!! Hope you all have a great Wednesday. Love and prayers to all who need them~~Salty Dog

December 03, 2008 - Msg 68332: Good Morning Porch,

Thank you for your condolences for my Uncle. The funeral is today. I wish I could be there but with the boys having school and my van not making it (can't afford a rental right now) there's no way. My cousins Katie and Ryan (in their 30s)are really struggling with the loss because they have lost both of their parents now. That's who I'm praying for, as well as my Grandmother.
Me-They- Attitude problems start early with girls these days. My neice whom is almost 7 will tell her older brother and parents what is going to happen with her hands on her hips. My sister used to laugh at her, but now she just puts her hands on her hips and says no, this is what we're going to do and if you don't like it you can go to bed.
Romeena- You've raised your boys right! Please add me to the Christmas card list. Email me if you do not have my info from last year.
Boo- I'm sorry for the situation with Bruce and Sean. That's so tough. Maybe you can put his blood pressure medicine in his morning smoothie ;)!
Spot- Waffle House sounds yummy.
Tom- I'm so sorry you have been lonely. Is there anything we can do?
Mavis- Been enjoying your blog recently. I meant to leave a comment, but didn't get a chance.
Rev- I'm glad your tour is nearly at its end, at least for awhile. I'm sure your family would love to have you home for awhile.
Hazel- Nice to see you stopping by, well I guess I can't say anything on that front since I don't stop by too often.
Possum- What's been happening since I've been out of town?
HM- Anything new on your end of the porch?
Asa- How's your granddaughters doing? Are they looking forward to Christmas?
MDC- My stepdaughter said she went swimming last month! That's amazing how y'all can do that in November in Arizona.
Auh20- Wow 70" of snow so far?! I know my in-laws said it was the snowiest (is that a word)November they've had in years. What was that about global warming?
Big Maude- Sounds like things are going well for you. Is football season over yet?
Well, I need to get to decorating. I'm putting up the Christmas decorations today.
Can I ask y'all real quick for prayers? We are trying to figure out what to do for Bryson's school next year. If y'all don't remember he has a learning disability which makes him read at a level 2 years lower than his grade. We thought about holding him back, but he is so mature and is very much excelling in every other class. The local middle school is very rough demographically and otherwise. I called the local speech school that could help him with his language processing and it's $25k for 1 year even with his voucher! I have asked for another public school in the town next to us to send us scholarship info because he is a minor. If that doesn't work I'm not sure what we'll do. If I homeschool him we'll have to hire a tutor and that's not exactly cheap. Please pray that the Lord's will to be done and we know what to do. Thanks!
Blessings to you and yours,
~Lucy
"A Christmas Story" comes on tonight and we can say that we've been to that house-cool!

December 03, 2008 - Msg 68333: Wow, Lucy, I envy you (about Ralphie's house)...way cool! Prayers for Bryce's school situation.

Mavis thanks for the emails, I loved them both.

Ro, I think "The Lightkeeper" might just deserve the respect that VICKS gets around here! Sounds like that boy of your's has alot of his dad in him. Please send us some pictures of the yard...pretty please?? Folks may not remember that we have a sub-album for Christmas photos...maybe we can all send pictures of our decorations this year.

Better go get Erin up..

Boo
