The best line of that one is "There's nobody here!" Ha! Love it.
Also, perhaps an early 'product placement' is when Andy

the Motorola "M" on the front of it.
We are keeping hydrated, and cool. We do any shopping now after sunset around 8 PM. BTW, our gas just (finally) went to 3.99 from

June 29, 2023 - Msg 119129: Good morning, folks. Its already Thursday and almost July. My how time flies by... the older I get it seems to go faster. not sure what causes that.

It's supposed to be in the 90's today on my end of the porch. Its hazy outside. not sure if we are seeing the haze from the wildfires or not but its definitely hazy,

Mr. Maude continues to make progress in his knee replacement surgery. We are looking forward to the meet up in about 3 weeks. Looking forward to getting away for a few days and seeing some of my Mayberry family.

Patrick and Daysie will find out in a week or so if they are having a girl or boy! I will keep you posted, and you won't even have to twist my arm. :)

It's good to see folks coming to the porch and staying in touch. Romeena and Asa are happy that we are keeping the porch going and keeping things neat and tidy.

Boo: hope you and your family are well. We miss you!

Have a blessed day.

We are doing well. Sean is liking the job and doing well. Erin is sober and much healthier. She still struggles with depression but manages better now. Thank you again for the prayers for my family.

I have applied for a couple of part time jobs but no luck yet. I think my age might be working against me. Bruce is doing well. Not much else going on except we certainly have had an extremely hot summer so far. Things seem to be cooling off a little now. I dread July and August, though.

I will have to go back and look at the archives and catch up. Hope all of you are well.

BILLY Ray, you don't like mayo??? Now there's a moulage if I ever heard one! ha
Last night was dear Asa's episode with his green bullets. One 'story line blooper'
I noticed for the first time... The would-be bank robber was standing in the bank
hearing Barney saying how he went thru the wall of the 'vault.' So why didn't
he and his acomplice just break into the beauty shop and get into the vault THAT way! haha
Something to think about.
Tonite on me-tv was Charlotte Tucker's ep. You know, she married that guy who fell down

No big plans on the 4th,but I do have something planned- my sister and family out West are at a SC beach this week and I'm going to spend the day with them tomorrow. Haven't seen them in nearly 5 years,so really looking forward to it. Plus, Laci and her mom will be going with me & I've never been to the beach with Laci,so I'm excited to see her enjoying the beach! Hopefully,we'll be able to go more than once to see everyone this week.

July 02, 2023 - Msg 119137: Good Sabbath Porchsters! Good advice, John Masters! Hey to MDC, big maude, G-F, Billy Ray, possum, and so good to see you, Boo!!! Well, all, it is by the grace of God I am here in a rocking chair. My husband and I rode out the derecho in our neck of the woods on Thursday. The winds and rain were in excess of 100 mph. That truck was rockin’, and I was praying The Lord’s Prayer with all my might. Many homes, grain bins, machine sheds, grain elevators, and other structures damaged. Cornfields were totally flattened. 😢 Thankfully after having to use our chainsaw (which we had in the truck) to cut trees that were across roadways, taking detours, driving over downed wires and under leaning utility poles, we made it home. We had some limbs down but nothing major. Where our son lives had quite a bit of tree damage so we spent yesterday helping clean that up—6 trailer loads. Tonight my hubby and son watched Support Your Local Gunfighter. An all-star TAGS cast there: Mrs. Lesh, Colonel Harvey, and O’Malley! Glad you like my episode, MDC. I like Big Maude’s also. I can nearly quote both of those episodes by heart! I read an article about how Elinor Donahue had a 3-year contract but left after one year because of personal problems and a bad case of pneumonia. The article said how Don Knotts had been the only cast member to check on her. The article also quoted Andy as saying that he didn’t really know how to write for women. Anyone else read this? Any truth to any of it?

July 10, 2023 - Msg 119154: Good Monday morning folks, rocking for a spell before work.

I hope everyone is well and your week is off to a good start.

Weather here has been hot and dry. We have had some rain but not a lot. Our yard has not grown much this past week but will probably need a trim by the end of the week.

Well, we found out Saturday evening that Patrick and Daysie are having a BOY! Did not matter to any of us if was a boy or a girl as long as it is healthy. So far, all the ultrasounds and other things they can do now indicate all is well. Continue to keep them in your prayers.

I am looking forward to going to the Mayberry Meet up next week. Mr. Maude and I are heading over that way on Wednesday. Its only about a 2 1/2-hour trip for us. I like to go a day or so early. Mt. Airy is one of my happy places. We stay at the Mayberry Motor Inn where the festivities are and many of the folks attend stay. I am looking forward to seeing GF as well.

in a row of 110 or hotter. Amazing thing is, that's back when many places
still just had "evap coolers," like I had in my classroom as a teacher!
Of course, we were not in school at this time, but going back at the end of August
was still very hot! The forecast is still calling for more such days. It almost feels
like a Twilight Zone episode; but we're pretty hardy, and have been staying inside
as much as possible. Here's the forecast... https://www.fox10phoenix.com/10-day-forecast
That cooking breakfast on the car is actually pretty real right now! Yikes!
GH and Maudie, have a good time at the Meet-Up and say Hey to everyone

Hi to Boo, NN, Charlotte, John Masters, Spotty, Possum, Billy Ray, PH and all.

Tonight on Me-TV was the episode where Opie gets straight As. Maybe its my
teaching experience coming out; but for a student getting all As, but his test
scores in the class record book don't show that, I don't think a teacher
would really make such a mistake, especially in her small class. That always
sort of 'bothered' me about that episode.
Just sayin'. I know, I need a hobby! haha God bless,

July 24, 2023 - Msg 119191: Wanted to drop in on dear Romeena's birthday. I know we all miss her.

Bruce did some work on my computer so it is up and running so I can sit down at the keyboard. It makes it so much easier for me than trying to type on my little cell phone.

Things are really hot here in south texas and we are stying inside alot in the hot part of the day but it wont last forever.

Bruce has doing some landscaping in this heat! I dont know how he does it.

Sean is still doing well on his job and recently sold his car and bought another more fuel efficient one. Its a 2020 Honda, black. Really nice and comfortable.

Erin is making progress and still working. she has her difficult days but is still sober. We are very thankful for that. We did get some answers concerning her behavior issues and understand better how to cope with things.

Not much else to report. We are all just trying to stay cool.

Here's a pretty difficult trivia question
for y'all:
What was the "official nomenclature" for the
motorcycle that Barney bought at the auction?

July 25, 2023 - Msg 119194: Good Tuesday folks. hoping everyone is doing well today.

Mr. Maude and I got back from the Mayberry meet up about 2pm on Sunday. Its only about a 2 1/2 hour
drive for us. We went over on Wednesday to enjoy the town as well as the rest and relaxation. We had a grand time. The weather was beautiful. Its always a great time and this year was no exception. From the pickle contest to the amateur tribute artist dress up contest there was not a dull moment. I have to say our own GF made a really good Buzz Jenkins, chicken thief. There was about 90 folks on Friday and about 100 on Saturday
night. Lots of music, trivia, a raffle and door prizes. I look forward to next year!

It's good to see BOO posting again.
Hello to Billy Ray, MDC, Possum, John Masters, GF and those I may have missed.

I better get busy here at work.
Prayers and blessing to all

Good Sabbath to all!
Billy Ray, you found it for sure, but like u say you "cheated!" ha
Yup, it is an RJ 300 ! (Which, from what I can tell, is just a made up name.)

Maudie, so glad you two had a good time. So nice that you live so "close!"
Hmm, I'm trying to picture our GF as a "mere chicken thief" (and what not) :)
And thanks for all your prayers. Hope the pastor is still doing well.
BOO--good to see you again on the porch. Seems like things are going pretty well
these days. How goes the job hunt? Ever think of being one of those
visiting angels nurses? Thanks for the reminder about Ro's birthday in heaven.
Hope to see you more with your computer working better now.
Good for Erin too!
Hey to Possum! :)
Keep well porchsters!

July 26, 2023 - Msg 119196: Boo, to help you with your nursing job search, check out https://www.indeed.com/q-Nurse-l-Texas-jobs.html?vjk=d3fab14d581fca72 and https://www.indeed.com/q-Nurse-l-Texas-jobs.html?vjk=d3fab14d581fca72.
Well it looks like there are no more guesses to my trivia question about the population of Mayberry.

In the opening scene of season 8, episode 30 (the last episode), a sign at the railroad station lists the population and elevation of Mayberry:

Population: 5,360
Elevation: 671

However, this conflicts with the comment made by choir director John Masters to Andy Taylor, that "there's got to be a decent tenor in a town of two-thousand people" in the episode The Song Festers – season 4, episode 20. And, in season 7, episode 23 ("The Statue"), Howard Sprague refers to a population of 1,800.

HI PH, Thanks for the answers. When I said "2000?" above, I must have
been remembering the songfesters episode, as that figure was in the 'recesses
of my mind!' ha
I'm not a big color ep watcher, but I guess we could say a population drop
of 200 was maybe due to gold being found in the hills (or some such thing)!:)
And then 4 years later,
a big population boon to 5360! How's that sound?

July 29, 2023 - Msg 119199: Watching the news is depressing. High temperatures are killing people and affecting food production, dust storms in Arizona, wildfires are posing a danger to not only humans, but also to animals and their habitats, temperatures off the Atlantic Ocean coast near Florida are killing coral reefs, and Russia continues its military action that so far, can't be stopped. This all makes me wonder if the end of he world is near. I pity those who are bringing children into this world. It is a major reason why I don't have children of my own. I don't want any of them to experience all the problems and dangers like many of us. Instead of working together to solve problems, we seem to be doing the opposite and creating additional problems. As a result, I am not looking forward to the future of this planet.

July 29, 2023 - Msg 119200: Stopped by to check in on my porch buddies and so happy to see all the trivia going on. reminds me of the old days. Speaking of old, a few of us have birthdays this month. I was just thinking that I am now about the age that Romeena was when I joined the porch. I thought she was kind of old then..I didnt know what old was!

I dont mean to stay away so much but I have this bone spur in my neck that causes alot of discomfort running down my shoulder and left arm when I type at this keyboard or play my piano. I tried different things like propping the arm on a pillow but nothing really helps much. I guess its time to see the doctor about it.

MDC, yes I have thought about a home health job and have applied for a few but no response. I suspect that with covid, alot of tired and burned out hospital nurses have left for home health jobs. I'm not giving up though. I actually had an interview at a behavioral hospital in Corpus but during the interview realized I would not be a good fit. Im just too old for twelve hour shifts and the possibility of being assaulted by a patient. I guess i will leave it in God's hands and see what happens.

MDC, sounds like it has been dreadfully hot there. It started out being one of the hottest spots in the nation here but not anymore. The heat has spread and our temps are more like normal for this time of year, it just started earlier than normal. I often think of your story of your relatives wrapping up in wet sheets to sleep on the porch in the old days. That wouldnt work here because of the high dew point, though. It stays dreadful even throughout the night. I am so thankful for air conditioning. I dont mind saying I am more than a little concerned about this weather pattern since it just seems to get worse each summer. I try not to worry about what I cant do anything about but you all know how much I hate the heat so this is a real bummer for me.

Well, I've been working on some christmas quilts for the family and that has been fun so far. I am already thinking about the holidays, as I usually do this time of year. ha. Looks like we will be having a big thanksgiving this year because St. Susan's husband has relatives from Michigan coming down, as they did three years ago. It was a great time so I am looking forward to them being here again.

My birthday isnt until Monday but Sean took me and BRuce out last night for my birthday dinner (erin had to work). We went to a steak house and I had one of the best meals I have had in a very long time. They grill everything over mesquite wood and I had a grilled chicken breast with mushrooms, dijon mustard and some kind of cheese melted over it. It was heaven. It was a really nice evening and I needed one. I dont get out very much in this heat.

I know just how you feel, PH. I try not to think too much or even watch the news because of its effect on my mental health. Im getting old but I really feel for the young ones and especially for animals.

Boo
