November 21, 2001 - Msg 3405: I knowed I had a high roof to my mouth, but now that tears it when the porch sweeps while I'm talking!!

November 21, 2001 - Msg 3406: Floyd, Happy Thanksgiving right back at ya. And way to go on the Annivesary. Thanks for all you do my friend in running these boards and giving us this forum.

November 21, 2001 - Msg 3407: HAPPY ANNIVERSARY FLOYD! Asa-did you have the leaf blower out again? My Porch was swept. Getting ready for the holidays? Who covered my chair with leaves, was that you Salty Dog? You rascal... Is everyone getting that turkey thawed and ready for the oven? I can't wait for our get-together! The rolls are rising!~New Neighbor

November 21, 2001 - Msg 3408: Thanks for the Anniversary wishes! But it's not just my anniversary; it's all the WBMUTBB member's anniversary. I don't want to take credit for WBMUTBB as a whole. It wouldn't be much without the members.

November 21, 2001 - Msg 3409: Hey to the PORCH. Asa you being an Englishter I hope you don't run into Ernest T and welcome to Tilley(That's my real family name) always room on the Porch for one more. I wont be here tomorrow so I'd like to wish you all a HAPPY THANKSGIVING, may it be just like the ones we know they had in Mayberry. Uncle Ollie " Wrong or right I'm here to fight unless you runs away with fright and if you wonder who I be, it's me it's me it's Ernest T."

November 21, 2001 - Msg 3410: Hello ya'll. . .I know that you have all missed my wonderful presence here. I have been trying to read up on the wonderful happenings here but I haven't always had time to post. I think those blues were catching up on me - I had to have a self pity party for awhile and I didn't feel like being blue all over you. Thanks for those who emailed the old homemaker. I am truly thankful for ya! Tomorrow is Thanksgiving - two radio stations in Cincinnati are playing 24 hour non-stop Christmas music. Nothing like a little Bing Crosby and Perry Como to get you in the spirit. I just wish they still had Christmas specials like they had when I was growing up. It is time to get out White Christmas (I just love the General!).
Happy Anniversary Floyd - for all of them! I saw you in the Elvis movie Blue Hawaii on Sunday. My boys thought it was great with all the music. You looked good Floyd!!!
NN - I think I may have swiped your rools but it was by accident. . .they smelled so good while they were cooling. There is nothing like a good hot roll with butter!
The chocolate pie sounds delish Mavis - save me some!
And Asa - happy Thanksgiving to you - you are a treashuh doll - a real treashuh!

You all have a good day.

Praise God from whom all blessings flow
Praise Him all creatures here below
Praise Him above ye heavenly hosts
Praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost . . .Amen

November 21, 2001 - Msg 3411: Are the rumors about Gomer and Rock Hudson true?

Cousin Goob!!

November 21, 2001 - Msg 3412: Good afternoon porch friends. I am getting hungry just reading all your posts. Mavis, you better save me a slice of that pie. I may need to use a AD2K myself to be able to get my pants fastened after this meal!!Howdy Tilley hope you feel at home with this bunch of nuts out here! New neighbor, you caught me red handed ( or footed) I did spread those leaves on yer porch I was trying to swipe some rolls out of the oven without leaving my footprints. Oh well. I too am listening to Christmas music today. Asa, what was that you heard about Manheim Steamroller? Everyone have a great afternoon it is beautiful here but a bit chilly. See yall later--Salty Dog
Asa, can I have enough time off tomorrow to watch the parades?

November 21, 2001 - Msg 3413: HEY HOMEMAKER, Glad to see ya. When you get feelin down, you need to be here, so's we can lift them spirits. Glad you're back with us.
Uncle Ollie, I sure hope Ernest T. don't start up with me. I'll thrash that bobby dazzler with me uumbrella, the swine.

November 21, 2001 - Msg 3414: Anybody bringing the Turkey tomorrow? I may bring my brother, but that doesn't count does it? :-)
Hey Homemaker glad your back! Welcome Tilley!--Helen

November 21, 2001 - Msg 3415: Howdy, friends! Tilley, welcome to this porch, child! Glad to have you. Asa, thanks for asking about my bathroom re-do. No, I'm not cussin' yet, and probably won't. I'm just so thankful we caught the problem in time, before the wall sank into those mushy sole plates, and before black mold got started. Should all be done by next Wednesday. Meantime, I do have another bathroom up front by the guestrooms. I'm just thankful that I don't have to make that little trot out to the "house behind the house". I've done that in my much-younger days, believe me!
Homemaker, when you're feelin' blue, honey, you just come on to this porch. We don't mind a little blue, it washes off. Besides, sharing it dilutes it a lot!
Where's Tom? I'm countin' on a lovely Thanksgiving homily from him. Where does that boy find those things? Always so timely and so sweet.
I'll be having two Thanksgivings. Tomorrow with my brother and his family and my dad, then on Saturday with my son and his family and some friends and my dad. Work schedules couldn't be blended, so we just decided to run it through twice. I'm glad I really like turkey!
Have a lovely and blessed holiday, friends! --Romeena

November 21, 2001 - Msg 3416: Hi Porch, I go so busy packing and getting ready to leave for the BIG city, that I almost forgot to wish all my friends a Happy Thanksgiving! Homemaker, I get those pitty-parties too - ya always got an ear here to listen - it helps. Now, perk up and get ready for family and food alla y'all! Asa, Mavis, Homemaker, Tilley, MPO, Helen, Tom, Hazel, Floyd, SaltyD, New neighbor, Miss Ellie... am I missin anyone?

Dear Lord, pour forth your love, protection and traveling mercies on all our families over the holiday. Keep us near to Your Heart as we thank The Father for all our Blessings.

~ Mrs. Wiley
Mom food, here I come!

November 21, 2001 - Msg 3417: Happy Thanksgiving porch. I hope you all have a wonderful day tomorrow. We all have so much to be thankful for. I hope all of the travelers have a safe trip. Romeena, I hope you have two good Thanksgivings! Save some turkey for Sugarplum! Remember ya'll there are no such things as calories on Holidays!Nite all.--Helen Psalms 75:1

November 21, 2001 - Msg 3418: Hello, friends. Everyone have a great Thanksgiving! I'm thankful for the porch and all of you that post here.
- Hazel

Andy: I'd say we're better off than a lot of people. Got a roof over our heads, Aunt Bee--finest food you ever put in your mouth--Barney for a friend. Yeah in some ways I's say we are rich.
Barney: You see, Opie, it aint only the materialistic things in this world that make a person rich. There's love and friendship. That can make a person rich.

November 21, 2001 - Msg 3419: That's beautiful Hazel. Gits ya right where ya live. HAPPY THANKSGIVING FRIENDS. LOVE YOU ALL!

November 21, 2001 - Msg 3420: I made it home safe & sound & with my son, who is bigger than I am now & we did just fine. Got the pie made, boy does it smell good, I wanted to taste test it but figured family or not, they wouldn't appreciate a pie with a big hunk of it missing! Reckon I could say a mouse done it, or maybe the Count?? Might work.
I'll let ya'll know the verdict on the pie tomorrow. Better get to bed so I can get up & eat, & eat, & oh yeah, almost forgot, EAT!!
Happy Thanksgiving my wonderful friends!

November 21, 2001 - Msg 3421: *Mavis, that is funny about the pie. Might work. Yeah but it might not. I love that line and Hazel you had me splitting a side with that quote. Nuts or not, y'all sure are nice folks. "Ain't it nice to live in such a friendly town?" Thanks to everyone (I'd try to thank each one of you but I'd mess it up for sure) for such a warm welcome. Hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving. I won't be cooking a turkey until Friday and that's for my other half to take to work on Saturday. We's talking about spicing some shrimp for Thanksgiving. Is that sacriledge? hehe Just the two of us. Sad when family is so spread out.

Now remember when someone asks you to pass the dressing, pass it, don't heave it.

November 21, 2001 - Msg 3422: Whoowheeee, I haven't posted in a long time.
How is everybody doing? Welcome Tilly! Have a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for he is good! Because His mercy endures forever. Psalm 118:1

November 21, 2001 - Msg 3423: Good evenin' to the Porch! Sure is lonely here at work on Thanksgivin' Eve, just me and my computer. Oh, well. Boss lady says I can split outta here early tonight so's I won't be too grouchy tomorrow for all the festivities. "I didn't get my full eight hours and when I don't get my full eight hours I'm grouchy. DO YOU MIND?!" That was nice of her, sayin' I could leave early and all. She's a wonderful human bein'.

No offense, Mrs. Wiley, but I b'lieve I'll let your sweet potato casserole slide on by. I ain't never been able to stand the taste of sweet potatoes, it don't matter WHAT you do to doctor 'em up, they just make me gag, and there ain't no two ways about it. I'm sure you folks who like sweet potatoes will just love, LOVE Mrs. Wiley's sweet potater casserole, but as for me, I'd just as soon smoke one'a Aunt Bee's pickles.

Thanks much to *Mavis and Asa for sayin' I should post more often, and I'm missed when I ain't here. (Your checks are in the mail.) I appreciate it. It sounds like ever'body is bringin' some good food to eat tomorrow ('cept for that sweet tater stuff *blech* *PTOOOOEY!*). I bet amongst all of us here, we could set a Thanksgiving table that would be a sight to behold. Only none of us would be able to walk afterwards, is all. "Roll me over to the TV, Asa, I'm gonna watch my Cowboys get whipped again, bless their hearts." "Another piece of pie? Oh, no, I couldn't... *BRAAAAAP* Wait a minute, I got room for it now." "(Excuse me, Aunt Bee.)"

I looked for somebody to answer Fun Girl's question about the family Ben had thrown in jail on Christmas Eve for moonshinin', but nobody come up with it. The same feller played Lester Scobee in the Andy Forecloses episode, only in The Christmas Story, the feller went by the name of Sam Muggins. What makes the water even muddier is the fact that the woman who played Lester's wife, Helen (Margaret Kerry) also played Sam's wife, Bess. And Joy Ellison played their daughter in both episodes, only she was Mary in one of 'em and Effie in the other'n. The boy (Billy Muggins) wasn't in the other episode, so he musta been fishin' with Opie at the time.

It's nice to see some new faces on the Porch. Welcome back to AngeFan, and welcome to Diana and Tilley (hereafter NOT to be known as "The Beaver". Remember that, ever'body. Do NOT think "The Beaver" when addressing Tilley, okay? I'll keep you all straight, don't worry. :-)

Hey Homemaker, I'm with Asa and Romeena about that thing: If you're feelin' blue, c'mon over to the Porch and set awhile, and let us cheer you up! You're one'a ours, bud, and we take care of our own. As far as I'm concerned, we're all just one big happy family here, and we oughta support each other whenever we can. Sure, we have the occasional weird brother-in-law or crazy aunt that we'd like to hide UNDER the Porch from time-to-time, but by and large, we're all good folks, so let us help you outta them funky times whenever they come callin', okay? Oh, and I liked your rendition of The Doxology, bud. That was nice, REAL nice.

Well, I've just about blabbed my fool head off, so I'll shut up now. I'm so thankful for the multitude of God's blessings in my life, and you all are right in there, please know that. God bless you all, and may He keep you safe. I'll see you soon, Lord willin'.

*Rafe Hollister
"Dogs, cats, birds off all kinds, and small sheep."

November 22, 2001 - Msg 3424: Happy Turkey Day! I just wanted to say I am so thankful for all my porch buddies! Ya'll are all great! Like a gret big extended family! Ya'll are the best & I hope all of you have a great day!

November 22, 2001 - Msg 3425: And Tilley, Diana, Angefan Ya'll might not know about my site that helps us all keep in touch with one another The Cutlass run on over there, check it out & let me know if ya want to be added to it!

November 22, 2001 - Msg 3426: Mornin Rafe

November 22, 2001 - Msg 3427: Mavis, I sure hope you still feel that way when I show up this afternoon on your door step with nothing but my appetite.LOL.
Happy day to everyone here on our porch. Be safe, Be happy, Be grateful, cause it could always be worse. "I use to cry when I had no shoes, till I met a man who had no feet." And remember God listens to knee-mail.

November 22, 2001 - Msg 3428: Come on over Asa we got plenty! ham, turkey (deep fried in peanut oil) sweet tater casserole (Rafe will give you his share), home canned green beans, smashed taters, punkin pie, pecan pie, chocolate chip pie, cool whip salad, canned venison (to snack on & tide us over) homemade cinnamon rolls, homemade biscuits, milk, sweet tea, pop, coffee, & alka seltzer!

November 22, 2001 - Msg 3429: Happy Thanksgiving! Rafe, I miss you when you aint here, and I think you should post more often too. So can I get one of them there checks yer sendin to Mavis & Asa? Have a great day, to all of you.
- Hazel

Goober: I can't eat like that anymore. You wanna know what the secret was?
Andy: Secret for what?
Goober: Eating the pancakes.
Andy: Starved yourself for a week?
Goober: That's where you're wrong. The idea is to stuff yourself for a month or two. Stretches your stomach muscles.

November 22, 2001 - Msg 3430: Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Mavis, I'll be there in about 2 hours. I am doing the "hunting widow" thing today But I'm going to Mommas tonight! I have to work this afternoon but I don't mind it at all. The other workers had their family things today and ours isn't until tonight. So, break out the TAGS videos! I am Thankful for each and everyone of you here on the porch. My day just wouldn't be complete without you guys.(sniff) have a great day with your families and lets not forget those who lost family members in the recent events.--Salty Dog

November 22, 2001 - Msg 3431: High roof to your mouth!?! You beat everything Mavis, you know that? You're funny for a puppy groomer...

November 22, 2001 - Msg 3432: Jelsik I resemble that remark! I am so full I'm about to bust! Still got to do this all again on Sun for the other side of the family. Ya'll coming?

November 22, 2001 - Msg 3433: Happy Thanksgiving to everyone.

November 22, 2001 - Msg 3434: Happy Turkey Evening. . .tomorrow will be a busy day. We put our Christmas tree tomorrow (a live one at that) and we have friends coming from the city whose children I don't think have had the adventure of hunting through the tree patch for just the right one! So - the dishes are done for today's meal but I promised them some chili and potato soup for tomorrow and so I best be off and getting that started.

How was the pie Mavis? Any leftovers?

November 22, 2001 - Msg 3435: A little bit was leftover, but not much so I guess the pie was a hit! I saved waht I could. LOL

November 22, 2001 - Msg 3436: Howdy, everybody! (burp)Oh, pardon me! What a lovely meal we had. My brother and sister-in-law brought the whole, entire meal over to my house! Can you imagine? All I cooked was some sweet 'taters mashed with butter (sorry, Rafe) and made some tea. They brought a regular roasted turkey and a home-smoked one (gooooood!) and dressing, and squash, green beans, mashed taters, gravy, corn and pumpkin pie with real whipped cream. Lots of it. They lopped me off some leftovers and took the rest home with them after dinner, so I don't have an overwhelming amount of food to contend with. I appreciated that, too, because on Saturday we're gonna run the whole thing through again for my kids and their families, except this time I'm cooking.
My dad was here with us, doing pretty well today - followed most of the conversations and physically feeling okay. I'm thankful for that. He's such a precious person, and it's heartbreaking to watch as more and more pieces fall out of his puzzle every day. He knows what's happening, though, and accepts it with grace and humor. That's just his nature, always has been.
Got a full day tomorrow, shopping for Saturday's meal, maybe a little Christmas shopping if the sales look good. Have a great weekend, friends. --Romeena

November 22, 2001 - Msg 3437: Happy Thanksgiving to All ! Homemaker I remember that song from going with my aunt and uncle to the Presbyterian Church. I think it is a beautiful little song.
Well, I ate till I felt like a stuffed turkey. It was good. Mama cooked the collards and fantastic potato salad, butter beans and corn, apple pie and pumpkin pie.
I made a pork roast and stuffing. "All in all it was a good day." I don't plan to get out in that mad house of shoppers tomorrow. I have to go to one store to pick up a book I ordered. AND rake leaves. WE may get some much needed RAIN, not a lot, but a little will be appreciated.
Hope all are well.
Love to all.
Miss Ellie

November 22, 2001 - Msg 3438: You know what, Miss Ellie? You're absolutely right. It will be a madhouse, and I think I'll just stay out of it, too. Now the grocery store, around 9am, ought to be okay. Most people will be too full from today to think about buying food, so that should go smoothly. You got me to thinking about those malls, though, and I just don't think I want to mess with it, either. Thanks for dropping the bucket on my head and making me THINK!--Romeena

November 23, 2001 - Msg 3439: Morning Porch! Don't know what possessed me to decide to work today, should have done like I have every other year & taken the day after Thanksgiving off, but.... Anyways, I'm off to work. Anybody wanta come clean my house while I am gone??

November 23, 2001 - Msg 3440: Hey Mavis, after that great meal you fed me yesterday, I will be happy to come clean yer abode. I graduated from the Newton Monroe house cleaning school. So I'm ept at it to. Can I snack outta the icebox though?
Sure hope everyone had a great holiday yesterday. Is it possible to have a food hangover. I got it if it is. Mercy!!!

November 23, 2001 - Msg 3441: Asa, I sure do know what you mean, about that food hangover. And to think I've got to do it all again tomorrow! Well, off I go to the store - hope that new kid in town isn't riding his bike on the sidewalk this morning, because my arms are gonna be full!
*Mavis, I'm sorry you're havin' to work, but my Sugarplum looks a fright. She got in the fireplace again! Mind if I drop her off while I go to the store? I want her looking pretty tomorrow. Thanks!--Romeena

November 23, 2001 - Msg 3442: Mornin' all! Not fighting the malls today either. I don't think it's much of a bargain when you used all of the savings on gas trying to find a parking place! Sounds like everybody got enough to eat! Ya'll can come on over tonight for leftovers! Asa, when you get through at Mavis' can you come clean my house. I need an expert! You're welcome to raid the fridge all you want!--Helen

November 23, 2001 - Msg 3443: Morning everybody! I guess it's official now. It's the Christmas season! My favorite time of the year. Got the carols going this morning. Just getting into the spirit. I'm not fighting the malls this morning either. I don't like that big of a crowd. Sounds like ya'll had some fine food over Thanksgiving. We get to do it again tomorrow, as well Romeena. YUM. Hey Asa, does plop, plop, fizz, fizz mean anything to ya? :-) I know it's early yet, but, Merry Christmas everybody!--Helen

November 23, 2001 - Msg 3444: Hi Helen, sure does. Oh what a releif it is. I need more potent stuff though. Now I know how Otis must feel. I don't know if you want me cleaning yer place though. I took a garden hose to Mavis' house. Shoot that women gets testy.

November 23, 2001 - Msg 3445: oops, didn't think that first post posted.Sorry. Don't mind the hose, as long as its' clean.--Helen

November 23, 2001 - Msg 3448: I think you better cook that turkey a tad longer Hazel, He's still tweeting.
Hey Brian, I have no answer to your question, but Rafe is signed up for that and I'm sure he'll be along sometime and answer it for you. What 4 eps do you have?

November 23, 2001 - Msg 3449: Welp, I just cooked my turkey and she turned out moist, tender, and juicy, if I must say so myself. I been nipping at her while carving. Glad to hear everyone had such a wonderful holiday. "Glut-Tons"". We didn't get the shrimp yesterday, so I made Chinese! Ain't that weird and wild for Thanksgiving?

*Mavis that Cutlass is a site to behold. You're ept! I love the bluegrass music. Now I ain't much for Country music, but I love bluegrass. Go figger. I was watching TNN recently and they had a special on the making of "O Brother Where Art Thou" and wooooEeeee was it good. I hated to hear that John Hartford had passed on tho. Hadn't heard that.

Hazel was that Winken, Blinken, or Nod callin' us for mealtime formation. haha Rafe I 'preciate you reminding everyone to NOT call me the Beaver. You're a Prince. And what a voice!

Asa, I'd ask ya to come clean my house too, but I don't think I have enough in the fridge. You got a pressure sprayer? My back has been giving me fits and I'm afraid my house looks like Aunt Bea has been gone for a MONTH. :0

Sorry to go on and on. Y'all have a great weekend.

November 23, 2001 - Msg 3450: Brian, which 4 episodes do you have? I have some but if your's are different, I'd be interested in getting copies.
I think Columbia House has released 19 volumes so far.

November 24, 2001 - Msg 3451: Asa and Tilley, that tweeting was my whistle! I just replaced the pea in it too so it blows nice and loud. You two beat everything, you know that?
- Hazel

Barney: Every thinking pioneer and inventor has suffered the same kind of ridicule.

November 24, 2001 - Msg 3452: Well Asa if you think that a turkey tweets - you have never been o a farm. They gobble gobble gobble! Duh!!!
I got plenty of leftovers too - I have chili and potato soup if you all are tired of turkey. I can make you
a nice honey glazed hame sammich to go along with it.

Well - we got some people coming to look at a horse we have for sale then I am off to the mall for a weeee bit of shopping and then the whole family will be seeing Sawyer Brown's Christmas Show tonite at the Little Nashville Opry. Yee Haw!

A busy day indeed!

Everyone have a good day!

November 24, 2001 - Msg 3453: Hey Porch! Just drove back from ATL and boy is my bottom tired! Looks like everyone had a yummy day - lookin at all your food is makin me hungry again. Hazel, you don't have to tweet me twice, I'm THERE! Our Dinner was just fine. A small crowd of 5 this year, but it was good eatin' - had to have a nap afterwards - then woke up, took a shower, and had dinner (half a turkey sammich and a piece of german choc. cake). Yep, that was the plan. And there's nothin like sleepin in the bed you slept in as a little one.

No malls for me either, but that's because there's no money. I'll be doin my shoppin' later next week. But after readin' Helen's post up there, I'm puttin on a Christmas CD, and startin to drag out the decorations. I Love Christmas!

I've had a great time with my son, but the few little days he is out of school for the holiday ain't enough. November 24, 2001 - Msg 3461: Not another test! I aint studied up or nothin.
- Hazel

November 24, 2001 - Msg 3462: No wonder Asa told us to act like we got smarts. He never told us we was gonna be tested! Is it like Mayberry trivia Asa? Just don't make it an essay, be easy on us. Are you gonna ask us to sing Acapella too? Ya'll have a good night I had a great time chatting with Asa a little while ago. Thank you Lord for the rain this weekend!! Have a good Sabbath tomorrow --Salty Dog

November 24, 2001 - Msg 3463: Hi All. Will it look like everyone had a good thanksgiving.
Nun of the family came becaues no one like comming here! we do not no why?
nature's fall garden
the treetops are sun-touchrd
along country lanes
that wind through the meadows
and woodland terrain.
the leaves are so beauteous
with color aflame,
since nature is singing
its autumn refrain.
near fence rows grows sumac,
all coned with bright red,
and bordering these beauties
are gldenrod beds.
sun's rays touch the earth-land
and highlight each hue
of nature's fall garden,
as autumn skips through.

November 25, 2001 - Msg 3464: Oohh Tom, that was extree good! Made me think of all the fall colors (which we don't get here in FL). Helen, I'm so sorry you had bad weather instead of turkey - will y'all try it again today? Prayers for ALL those families that were hit by storms! Happy Sabbath to all, gettin ready for Preachin' now - see you there!

"...I always imagined them with earrings..."

November 25, 2001 - Msg 3465: Good Sunday mornin' everybody! Mrs. Wiley, they had it without us. Imagine that. :-) We weren't brave enough (or crazy enough) to drive in it. They said they stood on the porch at my cuz's house and watched a tornado that did a lot of damage! They're all nuts! :-). Save me a seat a church.Hazel, I was asking,( I meant to say "May I" instead of "I may"!) if I could eat some of your tweeting turkey. Tom I've missed your beautiful poetry. You've got a talent, for sure.--Helen

November 25, 2001 - Msg 3466: Good Sabbath everyone. We finally got some snow here last night. More due this aftrenoon. I'm taking any offers who wants to shovel my driveway. Warning. It's a big-un. Nice talking at you to S.D. Don't spend all yer hard earned $$$ on car parts now.

November 25, 2001 - Msg 3471: Howdy, friends. Tom! I'm glad to hear your sweet poetry, we were missing you! And I can't imagine anyone not wanting to share time with you. All I can say is, they don't know what they're missing.
And now, I hope I don't see another turkey at least until Christmas! Not even one that tweets.
Oh, girls! I've got a recipe for you that you won't believe! My daughter-in-law's sister spent the day with us yesterday, and she brought a real treat. Chocolate covered cranberries. Yep, you heard it right. You just microwave a little chocolate bark, white or regular, and drop a few fresh cranberries in, spoon them out onto waxed paper to harden, and enjoy. They are wonderful. Try it - what have you got to lose?
Everybody has gone home, no one here but me and Sugarplum, and it's pretty nice. Gonna make me a big glass of tea, snag that last piece of pumpkin pie, and settle back in my big chair with the newspaper. A nap will surely follow. Have a great week, friends. --Romeena

November 26, 2001 - Msg 3477: Good Morning or almost afternoon porch! Boy what a busy weekend. The boys loved the Sawyer Brown concert and my oldest even got to shake Mark (the lead singer's) hand. Talk about wow! My oldest wants a guitar, microphone and stage for Christmas - he's not asking for much.

And yesterday was a day spent with the in-laws. The boys enjoyed it but we were all drained from a long weekend and 3/4 of the family has colds. Daddy only has a good case of poison ivy.

Not much else happening in this neck of the woods.
Talk to you later!

November 26, 2001 - Msg 3478: Mrs. Wiley, You're a bird in this world, you know that?
Hey Homemaker. Sounds like an action packed weekend for sure. Nice to see you posting again.

It was a Leave it to Beaver episode with (guess who) playing Beavers Principal Mrs. Rayburn? The actress who played Mrs. Wiley! I jumped out of the rocker and at the same time my Mom (76) jumped up and we shouted "it's Mrs. Wiley!!". See I ain't the only bird in this workd!

Nashville is only about 30-45 minutes from here. Hope all had a wonderful holiday. We signed up to join Columbia House so we can add to our TAGS collection. Thanks to whoever suggested it. I reckon that is what we will get for each other for Christmas this year is the whole set. It sure is a good thing that this is something we agree on or there could be a big feud over this.

It's great to see Flora and Jelsik and jennieboone, some names from the Porch's past. Welcome home, friends! Mrs. Wiley, that "mean face" you put on up there was a sight to behold. Better be careful though, if you close your eyes too far, your opponent will close 'em the rest of the way for ya. :-)

Hey Fun Girl, sore bottom or not, your posts are always welcome here on the Porch. I usually have a sore bottom after drivin' to the wife's in-laws, but this Christmas we're doin' something entirely different: We're gonna get on board one'a them little turbo-prop planes (aka "buzz-bombs") and FLY to Jonesboro instead of driving. THAT'll be an experience, I tell ya. Them little bitty planes make me NERVOUS. Kinda makes a sore bottom sound not so bad. I've only been on one of 'em before, and that was when I flew up there the day before we got married. Talk about adventure-flyin'! SHEEEEEEEEEESH!!!

Well, you all have a good evenin', and I'll see you all later, Lord willin'.
