September 08, 2002 - Msg 8880: Well friends, I am coming along fine after my hang ove...I mean my sinking spell earlier today. Maybe it had something to do with BDJ's special recipe for "mulberry syrup" and maybe it didn't. I ain't at liberty to say. I'd have him tell you all how to make it, but them we'd have to kill ya and we kinda hate to go that far. I reckon them squeez...I mean syrup is good enough that we could forgive him for going off and leaving us to think that he done fell of the R.E.Lee Natural Bridge, and made us drag the waters and ever thang. So what do you all think. I think he even beats the sisters medicinal recipe they made out in their hot house. What were their names? I know it wasn't the Baldwin Sisters, that was another show and it was color t.v. Somebody help me out here.

Gonna run and throw a load of clothes in the washer. Hugs to all.

Thanks for the poptarts cept I'm back on my diet full force again - hoping to drop another few *$(&%*&! pounds - got them weddings next year and I don't want it to be known as My Nephew's Big Fat Redneck Wedding - it has enough problems with "outlaws" going into in it. The couple is fine - it is just the "outlaws" that may stir up a rucus.

And Homemaker, I'd be much obliged to fill up on some of those green eggs, (oops, I mean eggs) and ham!

I sure am scattered in my thoughts today. I hope that's not an indication of how things are going to go. I guess I need an incant too!

Oh, and one more scattered thought, Boo did you read the archives to find out what you did yet? I am sure you don't remember all the Brew-ha-ha of the weekend!

September 09, 2002 - Msg 8889: Morning porch. Fun Girl, I don't believe I've ever seen anything like that before. Posting twice and causing the porch to sweep, so that the first one is in the archives and the second one is on the current page. You beat everything, you know that? Sorry I couldn't make it to the porch yesterday, but I'm here today to say thanks Romeena for a great weekend. 2 nights of TKAM! It was great. And I know you said you didn't want us over again for a good long time, but... did I ever tell you guys that I am a huge Wizard of Oz fan? I've got a whole room devoted to Wizard of Oz stuff. So, I have the tape, and I'll bring it to Romeenas this weekend for another round of entertainment. Or would you rather have it at my place? Let me know. Well, I'm off work for at least 2 more weeks, so I plan on doing a lot of porch sittin.

We could wait til it comes out on video and rent it and all go over to Ro's house and watch it...if she'll let us in the door. And speaking of movies....does anyone want to come over to watch Camelot. That is one of my favorites. It was made the year I was born, but I have it on tape and I just love it. I'll make a big old bowl full of popcorn and some of my famous taco salad ya'll bring whatever twangs your buds. No ramps though. I am afraid I would never get the smell out of the house.

Well I am off to Big Lots! Does anyone have a Big Lots where they live? I reckon people who live in the midwest know what Big Lots is. homemaker, do they have one out your way? It is a bargain hunters paradise. My favorite things are their cleaning products. They also have some home decorating stuff that is really neat. Well, I hope you don't get to upset about the movie, maybe we can take a vote on another one. Hmmm, let's see, I suggest we watch "Harvey". I haven't seen that in years and I just LOVE Jimmy Stewart! But anything with Gregory Peck sits well with me too, he's the cat's too!
Oh by the way Charlotte, where did you and Hazel get those earrings? You all looked so stylish. I think they'd go well with my blonde wi.... er hair!

All that Wizard of Oz talk created havoc here. Had a tornado touch down om Sunday in a small town here in Utah. We hardly ever have to deal with them things here so I thought that was a little odd. It wasn't very close to me though so I wanna see the picture show this weekend. I just love how that wicked old witch melts away when she gets a little water on her. I tried that on my evil boss but it didn't work. If anything he got eviler. LOL
Y'all have a great day. Got a big meeting this am that will say a lot about my future, so say a little prayer for me if you could. Thanks Friends.

Mary Wiggins

September 10, 2002 - Msg 8915: hey homemaker...come on over to my house and we will watch Camelot. I never was that crazy about the Wizard of Oz. I guess it's cause the WW of the West always reminded my of my step- mother. Or my ex-step-mother that is.

Well I went plum wild at Big Lots yesterday. (No offense to the Plumster!) I spent $125.00 in no time. I did get my niece her Christmas presents. She is crazy about Kelly, Barbie's little sister.(I think) I got her a Kelly with a bunny outfit on and several outfits. That's little Charlene that I was shopping for. My darling boys will be quite the challange. They have EVERYTHING, and are so smart it ain't even funny. Charlene has everything too, but you can never have to many dolls. Her philosophy is .....You can never be to rich, to thin, or have to many Kellys and clothes. Actually I don't think she cares about money or being thin as she is only four, but bring on the dolls. So folks, help my out here. My darling boys are eight and six. They love music and Legos. But I think they have enough Legos to build the a full scale model of the city of Indianapolis. Konnor plays the guitar and Emory the fiddle. Last year I got Reagan a "tangerine" so she could join in the music. "Got time to breathe, got time for music."

So has anyone seen Camelot? It's a great movie. If anyone don't like WOO, come on over and we'll pop in Camelot. Come in your jammies as it's a rather long movie.

Yak at ya'll later.

In many ways my life continues untouched. But not really. I cry quite often at remembering what happened. I hear women talk about how they are getting on with their lives, having to raise now fatherless children. I hear big strong men cry as they tell of the last moments they spent with a colleague before they chose different directions to seek an escape route. And I heard of a woman, just last night, who talked to her husband on the phone, saying their goodbyes and I love you's until she heard sounds which could only have been his building crashing to the ground as her world crashed around her. No, nothing personal happened to me, but sometimes I can't stop crying...

September 11, 2002 - Msg 8946: (((({{{Everyone!}}})))) Gosh, I love all of you. The sweet sentiments expressed over the last couple of days, the good-natured teasing, the wit and humor in the incants and all, the generosity in prayers offered for those who are hurting - you're all just the cats, you know that??
homemaker, I have a copy of "Arsenic and Old Lace", and I have a TV and VCR in my sunroom. If the gang wants to come over this weekend and watch TWOO, why you and anyone else who wants to can just watch AAOL instead. Got a couple of rockers out there, and a couple of recliners - you can get real comfortable! Now you might have to share space with a baby lizard or two - don't know how they get in, but they do. Find 'em all over the house in the summer. Little bitty pink guys, cute as can be. I trap them under an upended glass, slide a card or something under, flip the glass and voila! One caught baby lizard, unhurt. A quick trip outside and they're put in charge of de-bugging a flower bed.
Anyway, anyone who wants to come over this weekend, just come on. We'll rustle up some grub, got lots of tea and Pepsi, and can watch movies. Actually, I can set up a third viewing area in another room if we need it, like if somebody brings a copy of "True Grit" or something. I don't have that one. There are four TVs and VCRs in this house, so we're flexible.
Asa, I'm praying that God's will should prevail for you in your job situation. I know you've made yourself available for whatever He wants to happen, and that's all you can do.
There is still no definite news in our situation with the grandbaby, but it's still looking very grim. Please keep praying.
Thanks, friends, and goodnight. The Plum says hey! --Romeena

Makes you appreciate what you have. May God bless our wonderful country and let us appreciate our freedom and the brave living and dead, who protect our liberty. Now let us go forward with new resolve and courage and show the world that we may be down, but never out. "That which does not kill us, makes us stronger." (Clarie Dupuee Steel Magnolias) And speaking of SM, that would be choice viewing one of these Saturday nights. I think it is in my top three movies list.

Be brave my friends. "Let's Roll!"

Gotta go, Toby Keith is on CMT singing Courtesy of the RED WHITE AND BLUE.

Your flag waving, tear shedding, liberty loving, country appreciating.....
fun girl

September 12, 2002 - Msg 8948: Ok, I know that Toby says a bad word in the song, but he also expresses the feelings that we all have and need to vent. Only he gets away with it.
I do think they need a boot in the butt though.

September 12, 2002 - Msg 8949: I have a copy of "Steel Magnolias", by the way. We can watch it anytime anyone wants to. It's one of my favorites, of course. Great movie, some superior acting done there.
I never considered myself a political "dove", but not really a "hawk", either, but after the events of a year ago, I think we need to adopt "Let's roll!" as our national motto, and do whatever it takes to get this country back where it belongs - on top! Someone has to occupy that position, and it had better be the USA, where freedom, individual liberty, opportunity and free enterprise reign supreme. If we don't move into that position, it will be filled by another country, or group of countries, where those rights do not exist. So, whatever it takes, Let's Roll! --Romeena

September 12, 2002 - Msg 8950: I'd like to add, not as an afterthought, but rather as deserving of its own space, the importance of the religious freedom that the USA represents. As Christians, we are evangelical. That's part and parcel of our faith. Muslims, too, seek to spread their beliefs, but there is a terrible difference. We offer our faith as a matter of choice. Unbelievers can decide to accept and be welcomed into the family of God, because of His love, or they can reject and go on their way. Muslims seek to impose their faith by force. God is a God of love, and offers peace, hope and love to those who choose to accept him. Allah is thought of by his followers as a fierce god who considers non-Muslims as infidels and instructs his followers to convert the infidels or eliminate them.
I have a friend at work who is from the Middle East, a former Muslim, who has converted to Christianity, and is attending a seminary, studying for the ministry. He can tell some chilling stories, believe me. Many Muslims do not realize that their religion ultimately teaches violence and force. At the level of the common man, the teachings which are found in the Koran are peaceful. At the level of part of the religious hierarchy, there is a vast difference. Misinterpretation has led many Muslims to the point of extremism that gave rise to the Tower attacks, and will continue to promote violence and death until that branch of Islam is cut off forever.
It has come as a terrible shock to me to learn how widespread the extremists are. Indonesia, the Phillippines, parts of Africa, and many other parts of the world are heavily infiltrated by these fanatics, and death and destruction are rampant. I always thought of Islam is something that people in the deserts of the Middle East followed, and had no idea that they were in the process of trying to subjugate the entire world.
Is it possible that God allowed the tower attacks to occur, to shake us up and wake us up to what is going on, to the world-wide threat that has been spreading like a poisonous gas all over the globe?
If we as a nation don't stand up and do something about it, who is going to? Let's roll! --Romeena

September 12, 2002 - Msg 8951: Good Morning Porch, Good to read all these posts about our freedom and our religon. I like "Lets Roll" too. Seems to just be the right phrase. have a friend whom I haven't seen since October of 01 he has been in Afghanistan ever since but he got to come home yesterday. I haven't seen him yet but am hoping he will come by work today. I cant wait to just give him a big hug and thank him for what he has done. Well I left some coffee and hot chocolate on the table gonna need it. It's 55 degrees on my porch. Yall have a good day and Asa, good luck today sweetie been praying for your job situation. Best Wishes Asa - we have all faced our job situations with heads held high on the porch and we support one another too. Make sure you tell 'em you are good with bullet maintenance! (or is that maintenence) - ance and ence always confuse me:)
My hubby would say lots of things confuse me! I know things will be the very best!

Arsenic and Old Lace would be fine too - anything but that movie with witches and munchkins and monkeys - and tornados! YUCK!

Oh well - must get the boys up and me dressed and get on my way to school!

September 12, 2002 - Msg 8954: oops - sorry I didn't get breakfast made - diet mt. dew anyone!

September 12, 2002 - Msg 8955: Morning Porch, and best of luck Asa! ~ Mrs. Wiley

September 12, 2002 - Msg 8956: Thank you everyone for your well wishes and prayers. What a wonderful place to come and be lifted up. You guys are something else. You all have burdens and issues going on in your lifes that probably make my little problems seem so insignificant, and yet here you are, ready to help out an old bugger like me with a ball of tin foil and green bullets and a gun that falls apart. Y'all are the best. Thank you for your kindness.

September 12, 2002 - Msg 8957: I don't wanna hear about no 55 degrees! It's still hot here, dang it! (Sorry, the heat is makin' me a might cranky). Yesterday the weather man said we are expectin our first cool front of the season, but,"it may not actually get here and if it does it really won't affect our temperatures". What in tarnation does that mean?! I feel like the Wicked Witch of the East...I'm meeeeeltiiiiing.......Boo

September 12, 2002 - Msg 8958: Morning porch. I hope everything goes ok today, Asa. I'm keeping a good thought.
It's nice to sit on this porch and visit with friends, and hopefully we can all accept each other, even if some of us have differing opinions about religion.
Boo, you called my favorite movie a sissy show! Them's fighting words. I may just have to give you a knuckle sandwich. I kinda hate to go that far. Everybody have a good day. And act like somebody.
- Hazel

September 12, 2002 - Msg 8959: Yummy hot chocolate, Salty. It has cooled down some here too but not 55 yet! Last night was Mr. Mac-Beavey! (however you spell that). I love that one. Boy, Andy sure was being hard on Opie. I love the scene where he shakes Mr. McBeavey's hand! What a classic/classy television show! It's TAGS for me! Why don't we have a marathon TAGS night at Romeena's instead of bickering over all these movies! Sounds like a winning, idea, Charlotte! (Even if I do say so myself!)
Lotsa luck to you and yours! BTW, Asa, what is your job anyhow? Prayers for you.
Charlotte Tucker

September 12, 2002 - Msg 8960: Where's our Dixie Belle gone to? Anyone heard from Rock? Is he on the Cutlass?

September 12, 2002 - Msg 8961: A classic TAGS night! Charlotte Tucker, what a great idea, and I have the tapes to swing it! You all let me know if that sounds good to you. We could have TAGS going on in three or four different places, all at the same time. I even have, uh....color eps! Sugarplum will be available for any laps that need to be sat upon, especially if the lap's owner has carrots. --Romeena

September 12, 2002 - Msg 8962: Hello all! I'm off to the mountains for a few days. I'll be back Tuesday with a fresh batch of squeezins.

Right before every race before the green flag drops he'll say All right we're Locked Coked and ready to Rock lets ROLL!! Just thought I'd throw that in too. See yall later!!--Salty Dog

September 12, 2002 - Msg 8964: Hey CT!! I've been busy. i would have checked in yesterday but I was busy with all the Memorial stuff going on. Everything was really nice.

I know what you're really missing. It's the Guywatch Updates;-) Here's one for ya.......

Guywatch '02 Update: Making least I think so! We get along quite nicely. Everything is swimming right along. Ya'll pray for me. He's coming over tonight to work on another essay......Wonder if I'll be able to concentrate!

I'm taking an Experiencing God class at church. I tink it is going to be great. Let ya'll know all about it once we get farther into the course.

September 12, 2002 - Msg 8965: Afternoon Y'all! Hazel,I got your back, darlin' if you plan on taking on Boo for bad-mouthing the Wizard of Oz! Let's not whup up on him TOO bad though-he catches it from Beulah nearly every weekend it seems! Might be best to let them fellers (Boo & Asa) have a guy's night out at the movies. That way Mrs.Asa & Mrs.Boo can't blame their antics on the rest of us! Can we make it a double feature? WOO and Steel Magnolias? I love SM too!Are you playing hostess again,Romeena? We could do the TAGS marathon on Sat. night.I have tons of TAGS shows on tape that I can bring.Think I'll bring the little sandwiches this time too.

Oh, and by the way, I vote for the TAGS marathon, Barney is the Best! I loved the Mr McBeevee ep, I love how Andy says he believes in Opie!

Well, all, I am just gonna put a little calomine lotion on all these bites and then hit the hay. Wish I could visit a little longer but I'm just "itchin" to get to bed!

September 12, 2002 - Msg 8967: Sorry, ladies. You are certainly not sissies! I don't care what we watch but I would like a TAGS marathon. I think I'll bring that whoopie cushion after all. Watch out, ladies!!
Have a wonderful night and God's blessing on all of you tommorow.---Boo

September 13, 2002 - Msg 8968: Night porch, Have a good Friday the 13th. I just love Steel Magnolias and Fried Green Tomatoes too. Maybe one night us gals can have us a chick flick marathon and leave Boo and Asa to their shenannigans. Nite yall oh and by the way Boo..... September 13, 2002 - Msg 8969: I would rather we have a musical event like the best of Fred Astaire or Bing Crosby or Danny Kaye or Gene Kelly. . .some of my personal favorites (White Christmas, Holiday Inn, Easter Parade, etc. . . .)
I've got cinnamon rolls in the oven and the water is on for the tea and if you dig in the cabinets - you might find some instant coffee.
I am about to get ready for school then it's get the two youngin's ready for school and then it will be out the door. Asa and Boo - clean up after yourselves. . .messy, messy, messy (to quote my favorite line from Frosty the Snowman).
By the way Boo - we need jackets for school this morning! :)

September 13, 2002 - Msg 8970: Morning Porch. It's Friday! YIPEE! Found out yesterday my job is safe, just don't know who my boss will be so thank you one and all for your love and concern. Speaking of love, I saw Andy and Peg on the porch last night singing, I just gotta say they looked to be in love there. That entire scene was one of the best ever, and I think Andy was crazy letting her get away. There, I said it and I ain't taking it back.
We still on for Romeena's tonight? What movie did we decide upon, or is it gonna be the marathon? Let me know so I know what to wear and how to act. There is a difference you know, kinda like when Barn was showing Ernst T how to enter a room and wanting Andy to tell him what kind of gathering it was. I need to know that to so let me know please. I don't want to use the wrong amenities for the wrong occasion. That would emberrass me.
Prayers and hugs for all who need them.

September 13, 2002 - Msg 8971: Also, Asa, you don't want to look too Ivy League. Morning, Porch. I vote for the TAGS marathon.
- Hazel

September 13, 2002 - Msg 8972: HOORAY FOR ASA! I'm sure your new boss will be a peach! Glad to hear your job is safe.

I vote again for the TAGS marathon. To spend the evening in the presence of all you fine porchsters on Friday the 13th, watching Andy and Barney, well, nothing could be finer! I'll bring some chips and dip, (no, not Barney!, sides, he ain't no dip, he's a nut!)

Mary Wiggins

September 13, 2002 - Msg 8973: Mary Wiggins, YOU'RE a nut! But we love you. ~ Mrs. Wiley

September 13, 2002 - Msg 8974: Morning porch, off to work again. Say a little prayer fpr my boss. He had went to the doctor yesterday to run tests on his heart and while he was on the treadmill his pulse went up to over 140 so they put him in intensive care. Dont really know whats wrong but they think it was a light heart attack. I am all keyed up about the tags marathon. Later--Salty Dog

September 13, 2002 - Msg 8975: I'm new in this town. I like it here and think I want to stay. I've been reflecting a lot this week and can't help but wish that Mayberry were real and we could all set and jaw on the real front porch about America, patriotism, and how glad I am I was born in the US. Momof3

September 13, 2002 - Msg 8976: Hey Mom of 3 pull up a chair and get yourself a Mayberry name. We mostly use character names--some (like mine and Hazel's) which are rather obscure. Welcome! We're planning a TAGS (The Andy Griffith Show) marathon over at Romeena's house on Sat. night. We been trying to plan movie get-togethers here on the porch about every week lately. Hope you can be there in cyberspace. I'll bring the popcorn. Hey Dixie Belle, I took that Experiencing God class (by Henry Blackaby?) at church a couple years ago. It is very good. Hope you enjoy it. Is Mr. Right taking it too? I agree, Asa, Peggy was my all-time favorite. But Andy made a big mistake there not eatin' those snails. Escargot are my favorite food. Maybe if he would've eaten the snails ("I've stepped on a few in my time but I've never eaten any."), then maybe he and Peg would've gotten married. There would've been no chance for Miss snippy, grumpy, Helen Crump. There, I said it and I ain't takin' it back. (No offense to our Helen.) I better go get to work and hold my tongue.
Charlotte Tucker

September 13, 2002 - Msg 8977: Speaking of Helen where is she. By golly she nor AngeFan has posted in a while. Helen, let us know you is ok dear.
Welcome to Momof3. This cyberporch is just about as good as the real thing. We have a lot of fun and the folks here are just a delight to be around. I love em, one and all. Enjoy your stay.

September 13, 2002 - Msg 8978: WhoooEEEEE! Asa, I'm glad to hear the good news. A sweetheart of a guy like you deserves a break, and a good boss. If it turns out that your boss isn't nice, well, you just send him over to the porch, and we'll work him/her over for you.
You know, Asa, we think alike. I saw that ep last night with Peggy, and when they sang "Down in the Valley" together, you could just see it in their eyes - they were both falling in love. And wasn't that song just so pretty? Kinda clutched ya, didn't it?
We're on for tomorrow night as far as I'm concerned. I've got all the tapes, and four TV/VCR setups available, so we ought to be able to please just about anybody's taste. I'll make a big jug of plain tea for those of us who have to avoid sweets, and I've got a big pot of chicken mole (no, not a mole, it's pronounced MO-lay, say it kinda fast) and it's some kinda good. You serve it over rice, with a tortilla or two, and mmmmMMMM! It's good! So, come one, come all. Mom of 3, we'll find you a TAGS handle, and you're welcome to join us. Just pull up a rocker near the TV that's playing what you want to see. If you'd like to bring a little bag of baby carrots, my Sugarplum (my furkid) loves them and will be your friend forever. Everyone have a great evening now, you hear? Sugarplum says hey! --Romeena

September 13, 2002 - Msg 8979: Welcome Home Momof3, we'z glad to have you! This is a great place top get away from the real world. Did anyone see the commercial TVLand ran the last few days on "Ideals"? It clutched me. Deep. Yep, TAGS is one heck of a show! And your new "Porch Pals" are one heck of a bunch! See you at Romeena's for the Marathon! I'll bring some cashew fudge.

~ Mrs. Wiley

September 13, 2002 - Msg 8980: Afternoon Y'all! Goody for ya,Asa!Things have a way of working out, don't they? Welcome to the porch Mom of 3! You will love it here,I'm sure! Do you like Poptarts? I always pass out Poptarts for breakfast here on the porch. If not,one of these other fine folks will cook ya up something.
It's Friday the 13th and Asa is suddenly concerned about making a good impression on movie night, getting his a-men-a-nees right and all....hmmmmm,anybody smell a rat? Ha Ha I think he's up to something(with Boo,no doubt).Anybody know an incant to ward off mischief on Friday 13th? If not, don't worry.I was in Romeena's kitchen last weekend and saw all them big cast iron skillets she's got back there. Those fellas get outta hand and we'll NIP IT IN THE BUD!
See y'all at Romeena's later on!

September 13, 2002 - Msg 8981: Welcome to Momof3. The only requirement to sitting on the porch is you have to love the Andy Griffith Show! I'm glad you joined us, do you want us to help you pick out a name? And Asa, I was wondering about Helen too. Where the heck is she. Do you reckon she went up to Raleigh? I hope she didn't run off with that dishcloth salesman. Also, we are missing Ellen Brown. And I need a manicure. See yall tonight at Romeenas.

September 13, 2002 - Msg 8982: Mrs. Wiley and Possum, you were both posting at the same time as me! Can one of you pick me up on your way to Romeenas party? I don't want to have to ride that cow again.

September 13, 2002 - Msg 8983: Why,oh why do ya'll wanna hurt me?!! Would I ever like to see the temperature in the 50's!
I'm lookin forward to tonight and the TAGS marathon. Me and Asa might have to sneak out a little early, though....just to, uh, run some errands....bein' its Friday the 13th some people might just be up to some mischief and Barn said he wants to swear us in as deputies for the night (sure hope I can catch that tomato this time!). See Ya'll later.....Boo

September 13, 2002 - Msg 8984: Hello to the porch....I must say that Friday the 13th has been a good one for me. The hubby and I went down to Belterra. Its a fancy resort and river boat casino on the Ohio River. I won 45 dollars playing black jack. It was my very first time too. The hubby was much impressed.

Boo if Barney deputizes you, there is one thing that you need to remember, "There's only two kinds of cops, the quick and the dead."

BDJ I hope that your travels are plesant. Did you tote a penny that's been smashed by a train with you? You know it will keep you safe in your travels. And we wouldn't want you to take any risks bringing THE DEEEELICIOUS squeez... I mean syrup over the R.E. Lee Natural Bridge.

I am there for the marathon tonight. I will let Asa bring the carrots as I got most of the attention from the PLUM last time. You know if I know of a party, that's where I am gonna be. I ain't a complete hedonist. But you know what they say about my girls just wanna have fun.

your party goin', snack eatin', card playin',

I may have to get to Ro's by row boat tonight if this keeps up. Oh and I don't wannt hurt Boo for nuthin atall but I had to break out a jacket this morning. Thats all imma saying. Coffee and hot chocolate are on the table. Later--Salty Dog

September 14, 2002 - Msg 8987: Mornin' Y'all! I sure enjoyed that TAGS marathon last night! Romeena, you are some kind of hostess! As for me,I didn't see any mischief out of Boo & Asa at the party, but noticed they did leave kinda early.Anybody hear of any shenanigans around Mayberry last night? Boo said he was looking to be deputized-hope he didn't have to arrest Asa! Wouldn't THAT be something? Ha Ha
Thanks for the coffee/hot choc. Salty! The rain is coming at us too. I'm gonna hunker down under my rock and ride out Tropical Storm Hannah. We sure need that rain.Weatherman says possible tornados-hope not. Good wishes for everyone in the storm's path.Hey,good wishes for EVERYBODY!

September 14, 2002 - Msg 8988: Mom of 3 here. I would love for you all to get me a TAGS name. Is Thelma Lou taken? I grew up on Andy Griffith and now my kids love it. We travel a lot in the Foreign Service, and TAGS really draws us together (unless we're reading and roasting marshmallows by the fire). AFN doesn't show TAGS yet, so luckily I got several shows on tape before I left. Anyway, if the "front porch" is anything like my grandparents' growing up, then I'm here to stay!

September 14, 2002 - Msg 8989: Momof3 again. I penned some more lyrics to TAGS theme song. I hope it's all right. I'd like to share it with you. Also, I'll be adding my great-grandmother's lemon pie recipe to Aunt Bee's cookbook. It's really special, and I don't mind sharing it with y'all!
Hey there, come down to Mayberry
And set a spell while Andy sings.
While he plays on his ol' guitar
you'll never wander far.

Come on in, join our lovely church
Then we'll go fishin' for some perch,
and we'll head back to sweet Aunt Bee's
for chicken, corn, and peas.

Settin' a spell.
Jawin' away.
Life is sure swell,
when you make time to stay.

So just sit back while Andy sings
on his front porch a pluckin' strings.
While he plays hymns on his guitar
you'll never wander far.

2nd verse

If you wander into the town,
you'll meet a smile and not a frown.
Come and take in a show with me,
we'll see an old movie.

Now let's head down to see the pond.
A moonlit night...what could go wrong?
Hey there's Barney with his young miss,
a tryin' ta steal a kiss.

Andy jes laughs
at Barney's face.
Thelma Lou's lips
all over the darn place.

Down in our town of Mayberry
where people stop to shoot the breeze,
Ain't got too much heaped on our plate
'cept stayin' out real late.

Hope you like it!

September 14, 2002 - Msg 8990: Mom of 3, we don't have a Thelma Lou. At least I've never seen one. I'm glad you decided to stay.
- Hazel

September 14, 2002 - Msg 8991: I would LOVE to Thelma Lou. How do I get and keep it? Just start using it?

September 14, 2002 - Msg 8992: Well Thelma Lou, in the words of Briscoe Darling, "Jump in and hang on!" That's all there is to it really. We are really glad that you are here.

I am really glad that Asa and Boo weren't acting like fools last night. We are proud of you boys. Of course we don't know what they were up to after they left the party to go get "deputized."
They may have gone home loaded as old Jimmy. I hope that Mrs. Asa and Beulah didn't have to get out the frying pans.

have a mayberry day....
