Hey MDC, Kai(yes you spelled it correctly) is still doing well in her schooling. She has a best friend there now and they are always playing together and they always hug when school is done.
Unfortunately it looks like we will be moving in the near future so they are going to miss each other since it is about an hour away, so she will not be going to that school next year.
Yeah, we're buying a house. It is a little house but it has been kept up pretty well and is almost flawless. I think the biggest flaw is that it only has one bathroom actually.

Hope everyone has a nice day!

April 14, 2005 - Msg 28240: My wife is doing fairly well. She had back fusion done on March 10th and she's recovering. Right now she's having problems with her legs cramping which is expected. The doctors say that's because the nerves are healing where they had been compressed because of the ruptured disc. All in all, the Lord has been very good and things are progressing. It should be about another 2 months before she'll be healing up and it might be even longer. Thanks for asking. --Floyd

April 14, 2005 - Msg 28243: Thanks for the deletes Floyd, you're the CATS! I'll keep the prayers going for your wife, I sure can relate to compressed nerves and the pain they cause. Be patient with her - God is so good!Having surgery myself today at 5pm for the same thing, just not related to my back ("it's your shocks, YOUR SHOCKS!"), y'all keep a good thought for me OK? This should help me a great deal. homemaker, how are you feeling these days?

Gomer: "I did it again didn't I?"
Andy: "Yep, Gomer - you did it again."

April 14, 2005 - Msg 28244: Hey homemaker. The folks in New Castle, IN thought it would be good to take a year off from doing Mayberry in the Midwest. It's a lot of work and truthfully, not as many folks came last year as the year before so they figured it was time for a break.

Mrs. Wiley, we'll keep you in our prayers that your surgery will go extremely well and you'll be back at the keyboard in no time.

April 14, 2005 - Msg 28247: Hello friends! Hope all is well in Mayberry.

I just finished the grocery shopping and stopped in for a visit with my sister. I am going to ask my husband to think about setting me up with a computer at my parent's house....it is hard to do without it sometimes. Seems like I am always thinking about something I want to look up on the web.

Thanks for your prayers for strength, I must say I have been feeling stronger and have been walking and eating right.

We do have cable now and TVLand so I am able to catch TAGS sometimes. I am so much busier now that I am at my parent's that there is not much time for TV.

Better run along now...always something that needs doing (I am sure you can all relate).

Boo

April 14, 2005 - Msg 28248: Thanks for asking Mrs. Wiley - I am doing much better than I was but I get tired pretty easily. I am supposed to go back to work on the 25th but I am thinking of asking my doctor to restrict me to 1/2 days until I can get my strength built up some more.
Mrs. Wiley - best wishes on your surgery. . .prayers are said for you today!

April 14, 2005 - Msg 28249: Good evening, everyone. I just got home from spending most of the day at the hospital with my friend. The news is not good. Her husband had a scope exploratory, and they found cancer throughout his abdomen. Not sure where it originated, pathology will determine that, and that will in turn determine the treatment regimen, but it's not promosing. Probably pancreatic cancer, a very bad actor. My friend is devastated, but her husband is taking it well. Actually, both of them are dear friends. Henry came and mowed my lawn for me when I was in Fredericksburg when my dear husband died so suddenly down there. He must have been raised in Mayberry! Both of them would do anything to help a friend. I just hope God will direct me so I can help them now. Please, friends, pray for them. This is going to be tough.

Well, gotta go feed lonesome little Plum. She has been shut up in the bedroom all day, and wants some attention. Have a great evening!

April 15, 2005 - Msg 28253: Happy Tax Day! They say that we work "for the
government" until MAY 15, then the paycheck actually is ours! That's weird to think of it that way! The played the Beatles "tax man" a bit ago on the radio. I hear taxes are really bad in England these days! (Ar'nt ya kind!)
Oh well, prayers continue for all on the porch, and Henry and others. So sorry Romeena. Will remember him this Sabbath day also!
papa bear- yes, that is quite a sight with that cannon hitched to the back of the squad car, but even horsetradin wouldnt work!
kygirl - I've never had cable cuz I can get about 12 free channels in the Phx area. Of course, only about 2 are worth watching! One shows tags 3 times a day!
Daniel, we try to stick to our nicknames rather than real names here on the porch. Hope your SAT test went well! School will soone be out. Do you have a big summer planned?
Have a good day all!

April 15, 2005 - Msg 28254: Good morning, all. I just called my friend's hospital room, expecting the wife to answer. Instead, Henry answered, and I got a big hearty "hello". Sounds like his old self. Says he feels pretty good physically. I talked to his wife, and she says he's showing a real peace about the whole thing. Says it's in God's hands and he has no fear, whatever the outcome. I'm not surprised, he is a man of very solid faith. Still, please keep praying for them, for God's strength and grace. Thanks, everyone!

Daniel, we need to find you a name. Folks, do we have a Johnny Paul? Or an Arnold? Just some suggestions. It doesn't have to be a proper name, it can be a description, like our dear "Possum", who is actually "Possum under a Rock," or something that is meaningful to you, even if it doesn't appear on the show. We're happy to have you here, so think up a handle, grab a rocker and set a spell!

Well, gotta run. I may go kidnap my friend out of that hospital room for a while and take her down to the diner for lunch. Or maybe not. I think the special is fish cakes and I don't think I could handle that. They lay on my chest! Maybe we'll run out to Morelli's and have some pounded steak. They pound it right there before your very eyes, you know. Have a great day, everyone. Sugarplum says hey! --Romeena

April 15, 2005 - Msg 28255: Here's one more prayer for Henry,Ro. I'm headed up to Clemson tonight and see the Tigers play Virginia in baseball, play some golf in the am tomorrow, watch the spring football game, see more baseball and one more game on Sunday before coming home. Boy, the chair sure rocks better on this clean porch. Ya'll have a great weekend and see ya Monday! Got the planting done for a week or so ,so gonna take a weekend off! Quiet Sam!

April 15, 2005 - Msg 28256: Afternoon Y'all! Boo,it was good to have you rocking on the porch again-I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say we miss you around here! Come back and sit a spell again soon,ya hear? Oh, and get well wishes to Floyd's wife, homemaker and Mrs. Wiley(Mrs. W.,you had me giggling at that comment you made about "shocks" You're a hoot!)
Ro,I've prayed for your friend's husband and I specifically asked for God to bring peace to him during this time. I am glad to know that Henry DOES have that peace. Please keep us updated on him.
Hey Daniel! Yep,we need to hook him up with a nickname.I'm trying to come up with a suggestion for a critter related nickname-you know like Spot and I have. He could be Blackie the horse, but then he'd have to be make believe! Can anybody think of one? Spot & I need some more critters up here with us!
Thanks again for the prayers for Lamont. The last I heard is that he is home from the hospital and hooked to some machines (I'm thinking life support type stuff)and that he has lost the ability to do anything he did before the seizures and brain damage. He was always immobile and in a wheelchair, but he could move certain fingers, make facial expressions and sounds to communicate with people. If that is gone.. well,it's just sad. His smile was out of this world. It just hurts my heart.
On to something a bit more cheerful- I haven't told y'all how Laci (can you believe she's 19 months now?) loves the TAGS theme song! We get 2 episodes back to back on a local station in the mornings and if she's on the floor playing and hears that music she freezes as if in a trance, lies as still as a stone and then when the music's finished she springs back to life and starts playing again! And here's the amusing thing- they've been showing the color episodes lately and she doesn't act like that when the color ones are on! She just keeps on playing! I've got me a Mayberry grandgirl! Yee Haw! Ha Ha Ha
Well, better go see about my laundry. Y'all have a good evening!
P.S. Hey to my SC porchmates- Rev. Jr. and Quiet Sam! Don't let the wind blow you off the Carolina end of the porch! Geesh!

April 17, 2005 - Msg 28280: Hey, hold on there, Daniel R. Nobody is judging anyone by their name, and I apologize on behalf of the porch if it seemed that way to you. On this porch, you can call yourself by any name you choose, and if you want to go by your real name, that's fine with us. We were only suggesting "handles" because most of us use them, and we wanted you to feel at home. If you prefer to use Daniel R., then that's who you shall be. You're so right, many of the names used here weren't used directly on the show. Some are references, and some just came out of the imagination of their owner, and they're all just fine. So stick around, Daniel R., you are welcome here.

Spot, that was a good meal! Sure did enjoy it. We need to do this more often. And what about softball? Are we gonna have a team? We talked about it earlier, but haven't said any more. Got home to find a note taped to my door, evidently posted all over the neighborhood. A neighbor has lost their Senegal parrot, a very dear little pet, talks and everything. So, I put out sunflower seeds and peanuts, and I figure if I was a bird, that's where I'd be - in my back yard! I plan to spend some time at this window this afternoon, just watching.
