February 23, 2006 - Msg 34366: Busy time here on the porch over the last couple days. Prayers for Mavis, Boo & Sean, and all the rest of my porch friends.

Your Laci story brought a tear to my eye, possum. Such a sweet memory for you to have.

So sorry to hear the news about Anthony Burger. Sure enjoyed his contributions to the Homecoming events. (Rev - I remember the Trio as Burger, Talley and Parker also. Didn't Shane Dunlap used to be with N'Harmony?)

Asa - did you get yourself some Baked Alaska at that there club meeting? ; )

Well, the wait is over to find out what we're expecting and I believe we'll name the baby Ellen Brown, since it definitely ain't a boy! ; ) Baby is growing just fine - right on target, development wise. We had a boy name picked out (Isaac Quinn) but now have to decide on a first name for a girl (baby will still have middle name of Quinn - my great grandmothers maiden name).

Well, it's been a busy last couple of days, so I better hit the sack.
Night all!

February 23, 2006 - Msg 34367: Boo I was thinking, does Sean like dogs? I could email him some pictures of my crazy kids. That one of Feather eating a pear is too cute & I got a new one of her "chillin" on the couch. Email me if you think he would like it.
Now I really AM going to bed this time.

February 24, 2006 - Msg 34368: Morning porch. It's Friday! Whoopee!
Kinda tired this morning. My head didn't hit the pillow till 10:30 last night. Boy these late hours are gonna do me in. I guess thats what happens when you join a club all the way over in the STATE CAPITAL! And yes MDC, we score good in golf up there, real good. How'd you know about the Baked Alaska AFD? You ain't related to Roger Moore are you? Old Rog is one of ours.

Congrats on the Daughter AFD. Does hubby know she's a she?

That was a neat story Possum about your Laci. Sure makes ya wonder huh?

Mavis, seeings how you have the weekend off, and seeings how it's been a while, suppose I could get a trim on Saturday? Yer a doll!

Well think I'll go to work early. The special at the diner is the businessmans special. It's a hollered out tomamto and it's goo-od. Top it off with a lemon phosphate. Then go over and watch them chanmge the marquee at the theater. Boy I love Fridays.

February 24, 2006 - Msg 34369: Mavis - please make sure you get Asa's sideburns even - just hate to see a man like Asa with uneven sideburns. You know he is important - he went all the way to the State Capitol for a meeting!

February 24, 2006 - Msg 34370: Hey to the porch...and mornin all!

Hey Rev...Shane's only been doing the Trio in the past year...since Kirk started singing again.

Possum...if only we all could see with the eyes of a child, we'd be a lot happier and more at peace with the world. She sees what the rest of us can't, or won't.

Ya'll have a great Friday...

February 24, 2006 - Msg 34371: Good morning every single bless-ed one of you good people! POSSUM: Wonderful story! Yours too, ROMEENA. We can learn a lot from our kids.

AFD: That's great that everything is fine with the baby. Looks like it'll be a race to see whose little girl will be the next citizen of Mayberry. We're still wrangling with names ourselves.

ASA: I was going to ask which club you were joining, but I ain't one to pry.

It's so comforting to associate with such a wonderful, caring group of people as you all. Sometimes I feel like going online is kind of like having to walk through a sewer to get to the other side of the road. Then I stop by the Porch and am reminded that His light can shine through any kind of darkness. Thanks!

Well, back to practicing for my solo. I-O-U...I-O-U...

February 24, 2006 - Msg 34372: Hey, GOOBER, I almost rocked one your foot there!

February 24, 2006 - Msg 34373: Mavis, I am sure Sean would love to see the pictures of Feather. He adores all dogs! He treats them all like babies (you should hear him cooing words of love to our dogs!). I am afraid that when I switched laptops all my email addresses got erased so I no longer have your email address. Mine is critter33@awesomenet.net. You could send the pictures to Sean when you get the chance. Thanks!

You have all been so sweet and understanding with your words, prayers and ideas concerning Sean. God bless you for that. It means so much to me because, the truth is I usually keep all my concerns and struggles to myself and don't often share them with my family and friends (except for you guys). Thanks for always listening and caring.......(sniff).."I like you Mrs. Mendlebright...."I like you too, Barney....(sniff)." heeheee

February 24, 2006 - Msg 34374: Oh AFD, I forgot to congratulate you on your sweet little baby girl! I'll never forget finding out that my Erin was a girl. I have 3 siblings who each have one son. Erin is the only girl in the family. We were pretty excited about it. She is also the last grandchild that will be born into the family until great-grand children come along. Erin's middle name is Elizabeth (its mine, too, and is a family name). It means concecrated to God. I think it would sound real nice with Quinn....Elizabeth Quinn...maybe. Its kind of a mouthful, though.

February 24, 2006 - Msg 34375: 'Mornin' all! It's going to be a nice day here in the Dallas area. Cloudy, but in the 50's, and warming up to the 80's next week. Yippee! I get to go out and play in the dirt. I love a day like this, when I don't have to go to work.

Asa, just what club is it that you're a member of, up in the capital? (I figured I'd better ask him before he busted something.)

AFD, I think you should name the baby Andelina. Andelina Quinn. Kinda has a nice ring to it, don't you think?

The "pitting prunes" quote comes from the ep where the Darlings bring Andelina in and try to get her engaged to Opie. Barney and Andy are sitting in the courthouse, and Barney is telling about when some hopeful father was trying to get Barney to marry his daughter. Offered him an interest in a prune-pitting company, but Barney described the girl as "Beasto-Mareasto" and wasn't interested. He said the old man finally sent the girl off to a charm school to try to improve things. Andy asked if she turned out to be beautiful, and Barney said no, she was still ugly, single and pittin' prunes!

My pair of red-bellied woodpeckers just came in, poking around on the tree outside my window, looking for bugs. Guess I'll go put a few mealworms in the feeder. Believe me, they'll find them! They are so pretty, with their red crowns and blushing bellies, and their black and white bars on their backs. When the male is courting the female, she just perches on the tree and he scouts up the bugs and brings them to her and feeds her. Kinda like my dear husband used to peel oranges for me, bless him.

Well, gotta get dressed, feed the Plum and put out critter feed. There are about fifty pigeons perched on the wires out back, waiting, and one silly squirrel swinging on the bungee, eating corn. Sugarplum says hey! --Romeena

February 24, 2006 - Msg 34376: ..or I think you might really want to consider Hogette, like I mentioned earlier...Hogette Quinn...hmmm, has a nice ring to it. Heehee

February 24, 2006 - Msg 34377: I pick Morgan for a baby girl name - Morgan Quinn. That was my pick for a baby girl if I had a baby girl but since I had a couple of boys, Morgan didn't quite fit.

February 24, 2006 - Msg 34378: ROMEENA: Are you near Dallas? I had relatives that lived in Plano and, up until they moved to Arkansas a few years ago, I used to go visit them every summer. It's a very nice place, but a little too flat for me. It's kinda funny, when I first started going down there, I would get real uneasy when I went places. For a long time I couldn't figure out why. I later figured out it was the flatness--I am used to hills and am not used to being able to see for such distances. It makes you feel kinda out-in-the-open-with-no-clothes-on, if you know what I mean. One time a storm rolled in and completely freaked me out. You could actually see the beginning and end of the storm in the sky. Here, by the time you see the clouds, you are minutes from feeling the rain. Funny how you get used to things.

I don't know about AFD, but "Hogette" ain't gonna make our short list. I would suggest a name, but people in glass houses and all.

February 24, 2006 - Msg 34379: Hey To The Porch! Sorry to be so long in visiting but I been up to Raleigh and got involved in a jewelry heist and some inept deputy mistook me for the crook and, well, I'm sick of travelin, sick of sheriffin', I need to sit home and read a National Geographic with Ange. Actually, I'm in the middle of moving from San Diego to Arizona. Thank ya kindly to SPOT for wondering about me. I'll write more once I'm settled. I'm really glad to have found this and get some of my Mayberry-ness out to people who can relate to my obsession. Soooo, tell the mayor he can put that in his smipe and poke it! YMK (Young Man Kelsey) says Hey!

February 24, 2006 - Msg 34380: They say it's so flat there if yer dog runs away you can still see him running three days later. :)

Well Romeena and MT, I didn't wanna say anything but my new club at the STATE CAPITAL is the ESQUIRE CLUB! I mean it's no big deal. You can mention it to others if it comes up in conversation, but I don't know what all the todo is about.

I have a niece named Morgan. Shes a cutie.

Goober, spring is about to sprung on us here. You guys warming up?

Romeena, Still to much snow for this weekend to play in dirt, but if these temps hold I'll be shining and sharpening up my shovel for next weekend. I may prune some tree's tomorrow though.

February 24, 2006 - Msg 34381: Yep, M-T, I'm in Irving, just across the Trinity from Dallas. I'm such a homebody, though, that weeks go by and I don't even get near Dallas. I know what you mean about getting used to local conditions, and feeling strange when things are different. I love hills and valleys - they're so beautiful, but do feel a bit hemmed-in there. I'm used to the wide-open spaces of Texas, and feel much more free when I can see for miles. Funny you should mention storms, because that's one thing I love about the openness. You can stand and watch a tremendous storm from beginning to end, and might never feel a drop of rain yourself. I think that's one thing I liked about Mongolia when I was there. It looks a lot like parts of Texas. Gently rolling hills, too flat to really obscure one's view, and huge, huge sky.

Well, gotta run. Sugarplum says hey! --Romeena

February 24, 2006 - Msg 34382: Jubel Jubel Jubel, Joooobel!

February 24, 2006 - Msg 34383: Goober: Judy Judy Judy
Cary Grant: I never said that!

February 24, 2006 - Msg 34384: I've been wondering what movie Cary Grant said that in.
Spot, where are YOU at? Haven't read the last archive, maybe you're stuck in there somewhere.
Asa, are you blowing your horn about being in the ESQUIRE club?
Ro, ever heard of the Dallas Cowboys? They're up there in Irving somewhere I think.
YMK, I hope your move goes smooth fer ya.

My son and his wife have just bought a house, and I'm helping him move this weekend.
Did I tell you porchsters that my daughter in law's great uncle is Glen Campbell (country music singer)? She's my claim to fame.

I hate chit chat.

February 24, 2006 - Msg 34385: Goober, where's that guitar???
Hey Goob, have you ever visited SoGospelNews.com? They have a great SG music message board.
Chuck O'Malley

February 24, 2006 - Msg 34386: CHUCK: I bet you hate the guitar, too.

February 24, 2006 - Msg 34387: Afternoon Y'all! Yeah,it is pretty amazing to know that Laci has that connection with Jesus. When they did her surgery, her heart was actually stopped for a period of time and they had her on a heart-lung machine.I've always felt that she must have gotten a peek at the "other side". We just hope she'll keep this spiritual part of her and maybe even be able to really tell us about it someday.
AFD,I like that name Quinn. I remember a tv show back in the late 70's called "Family"-anybody remember that? Had a young actress by the name Quinn Cummings on it.(Think she was also in the movie "The Goodbye Girl")I've liked that name ever since.
Boo,my daughter's middle name is Elizabeth also! Pretty name isn't it? AFD,how about Rachel? Rachel Quinn -I like it! Of course, you've got to consider your last name and how it all sounds together. I'm sure you'll find the right name for your little girl.Congratulations are in order,by the way!
Boo,wish you lived near me.The sweetest little boy in the world lives next door to me-I can just imagine him playing with Sean. They'd be great pals,I'm sure. Hope things get better for Sean-bless his heart.
Well, going over to visit Mama Possum.Be back later for supper.Whatcha cooking tonight Spot?
possum under a rock
P.S. The ESQUIRE club,Asa? Wow! Just don't get too big for your britches and forget all us little people here on the Porch!!

February 24, 2006 - Msg 34388: Hey Asa...nope...warm here today..but back around 30 tomorrow and Sunday...I need it to get warm. The motorcycle is calling my name...

Chuck...probably wont get the guitar till May...that's about the 1st time that my and the Isaacs schedules cross. HAte to wait that long, but the good part is it'll be at a gaither show here in Chicager...so we'll get to hang for a while.

YA'll be good now...

February 24, 2006 - Msg 34389: Here's a point to ponder: Never believe that a few caring people can't change the world. For indeed, that's all who ever have... --Margaret Mead (but it coulda been Rev. Breen or Mayberry's preacher, even though he can be dry as dust)---YMK

February 24, 2006 - Msg 34390: Hey to Goober! I didn't know you were from Chicago. I was born in Skokie and lived in Mt. Prospect as a kid. How 'bout those Bears last season? Are you Cubs or Sox?....YMK

February 24, 2006 - Msg 34391: Here's a nice'n for Mayberryans: Talk happiness, the world is sad enough without your woe, no path is wholly rough...--Edna Wheeler Wilcox (I could see Ange or Aunt Bee offering that to Opie)---YMK

February 24, 2006 - Msg 34392: In the same vein as your last quote, YMK, my boss likes: "Sometimes the best thing you can do for morale is to fire all the unhappy people."

February 24, 2006 - Msg 34393: Have I ever heard of the Dallas Cowboys? Chuck! Are you serious?? Texas Stadium is less than a mile from my house. My husband and sons used to walk over there to attend the games. I was a Cowboys fan until the J-birds (Jones and Johnson) came in, treated our dear Tom Landry so shabbily, and totally alienated about 90% of the fans, including me. Any newcomer that would hire a New York PR firm to try to improve his image with Texans is an idiot. It didn't work, of course. Also, I quickly lost my loyalty to the team, because the team went waaaay downhill in their conduct after Landry left. As far as I'm concerned, about all they do is cause terrible traffic jams on Sunday. They're moving to Arlington soon, and I'm delighted. Now, would you like to know how I REALLY feel? (teehee)

Have a great day, everyone. Sugarplum says hey! --Romeena

February 24, 2006 - Msg 34394: Maybe if the Cowboys traded for Flip Conroy...

February 24, 2006 - Msg 34395: Afternoon Porch! Boo tell Sean them pics is on the way! I tell ya, I sure wouldn't want to have a little one right now, but I do miss Jake being small, he's so much bigger than I am now & yet I still remember the little cute things he used to do. Glad to see you back YMK I was beginnin to get worried. Ro I can just pic. your critters playing, Got a deal for you, I'll come over & groom the Plum for you, if I can spend some time at your window eating some of your cookin. Asa if you MUST have a trim this weekend, you better be on time, I tell ya, he joins himself a club & he turns into.....girl can't even get a day off around here.

February 24, 2006 - Msg 34396: Hey to M-T! Yeah, that's one way of preserving happiness... Hey to Romeena! Aren't the Chicago Bears truly America's Team? After all it seems from those I've met there's gotta be more ex-Chicagoans living around the nation than in Chicago itself!...YMK

February 24, 2006 - Msg 34397: Howdy Mavis! Keep keepin' the animals happy. Boy, if we only treated each other like we treat our pets in most cases, (petting, treats, love)...YMK

February 24, 2006 - Msg 34398: Hey Ro come on over to the other side, us Redskins fans will welcome you with open arms, 'sides, Joe Gibbs is one of the most awesome men! Any coach that holds prayer before & after a game or a race is alright by me!

February 24, 2006 - Msg 34399: Well fellow Porchsters, I gotta go for now and check my old man's woods and creek, but I won't be a stranger. Abysinnia (spelled right?), YMK

February 24, 2006 - Msg 34400: Where is Spot? Did he fall in the lake? Or take that boat with a hole in it out on the lake?

February 24, 2006 - Msg 34401: Barney-talk: inarculated--larynix--cleptominerac

February 24, 2006 - Msg 34402: elctronalized, & moulage, don't forget those

February 24, 2006 - Msg 34403: Ernest T.- I can't hear your emininees!
Barney- Darn you Ernest T., you don't go shoutin' out eminities!

February 24, 2006 - Msg 34404: Hey YMK...I'm actaully translplanted from Ky (originally) and Ohio (after that). So I'm first and by birth a Ky Wildcats fan. On Bball..I'm first a Reds, then split pretty evenly between the cubs and sox. Football...first the Cowboys (lifelong, even with the pain), then bengals...then bears. :-)

Enjoy the woods...

February 24, 2006 - Msg 34405: Barney- if you flew a bird through here every woman would point!

February 24, 2006 - Msg 34406: Hey Goob! I'm similar with being a Chicago & Pittsburgh fan due to family and where I've lived. What's funny is I've lived in So. California most of my life but just can't give in to supporting much of anything Californian. Except for Franklin Park in L.A. where the TAGS opening was shot. Abysinnia, YMK

February 24, 2006 - Msg 34407: Hey Boo I added a website for Sean to visit in my last email, Murphy, the fire safety dog. I sponser him, buy his food for him. He goes to the area Elem. schools & teaches kids all about fire safety. So far, he has 2 KNOWN saves, when the kids were asked how did you know what to do in a fire, they said "Murphy told me" Len, his trainer does an awesome job with him. If anyone else wants to see him, Murphy check him out.

February 24, 2006 - Msg 34408: Ro, looks like you HAVE heard of the Dallas Cowboys!
YMK, I love the scene where Barney is talking about "Cleptameniracs", but Andy line cracks me up...he looks at Barney and says "a what?" with such confusion.
"It sad when people steal things" ~Barney
"Yea, they ought not to do that" ~Andy

February 24, 2006 - Msg 34409: Mavis, I couldn't get your link to work.
Hey, how do you make stuff in color, and bold letters?

"Gomer, get down there with them spiders!"

February 24, 2006 - Msg 34410: Heeerrreee spot, here boy!

February 24, 2006 - Msg 34411: Heeeeerrreeee spot, come ere boy. I've got some treats for ya. *whistling*

February 24, 2006 - Msg 34414: Better try that whistle again guys.

February 24, 2006 - Msg 34415:
Spot went fishin' yesterday, i think he is still there.
He was suppose to bring us dinner! ha
Who was that comedian who used to do his whole routine with mispronounced words. I want to say Sid Ceaser but know that's not it.

AFD- congrats on the baby info! How 'bout my wife's lovely name- Cecile (French for cecilia)
I like it! ha
Boo- Always meant to tell you that your kids are so precious! Great pix of them! Prayers continue for Sean.
Possum, that is WAAAAAY cool!
Romeena, ya got me LOL this morning with your prune pitting bit! haha again!
Any new photos lately?
Where's Buckeye?
Asa- SPRING TRAINING is Here! The smell of the cut grass and the crack of the bat is back!
Prayers for all our solders in harms way, and for the world. To see a neat website go to

February 24, 2006 - Msg 34416: Mavis, thanks for sending the email to Sean. He enjoyed the pitures but we never got any of Feather??

What you said is so true, Ro. When you are used to wide, open spaces your whole life you start to feel kind of claustrophobic in the mountains after a while. I adore the mountains, though. When you are up in the mountains you feel like you are in the wide open sometimes. I remember being at Estes Park Colorado and being so high up above the timberline that there was no sound, no birds, nothing but still quiet. It was amazing! Kind of like the sea, the mountains are pure magic.

Gotta go put some clothes in the dryer and get ready to go to the movies. I am taking Sean and a friend to see The Pink Panther. Hope its worth the money (what are the chances (sigh).

February 24, 2006 - Msg 34417: Thanks, MDC! So kind of you. You are a very nice gentleman.

February 24, 2006 - Msg 34418: Congrats to AFD! Andelina and Hogette are fine names, but I've always been partial to Lydia from Lydia. Good to see you, YMK, stop by anytime. Asa, I don't know how warm it is in Utah, but it's mighty chilly here. Will I get kicked off the team if I stay in the clubhouse a might longer? Glad to see you postin' more, Mavis.
Charlotte Tucker

February 24, 2006 - Msg 34419: Glad to see you too Charlotte I sure missed this place. That link didn't work cause I spelled it wrong try again here I could have sworn I sent one of Feather, but I'll try again, I'm batting 0 today, wonder if I can still be on the softball team. Is Plum going to be the drink mascot again this year? If she is, we can get her a bigger wagon & hook Feather to it, she can pull the Plum around & Plum can serve.
don't they ever clean this crock?

February 24, 2006 - Msg 34420: MDC- I know Tommy Smothers used to mispronounce words, one of the best was a bit about Daniel Boone where Dick says he was a trader & a trapper and so Tommy continues the song intro. with gusto and says Daniel Boone was a trailer & a tractor! Hilarious if you hear it...YMK

February 24, 2006 - Msg 34421: Well I had fun in my Old Man Kelsey's Woods, saw Barn taking in my Mom's laundry with little Leon. They're good people, even if Barney did complain about laundry not being important official business...YMK

February 24, 2006 - Msg 34426: Howdy gizzmo! I'm just passin' through the porch on my way to the Bluebird Diner for supper. Gonna have the special of course. I'm new too since a week or so ago. I'm YMK (Young Man Kelsey)

February 24, 2006 - Msg 34427: I'm on the pacific coast so I really am having dinner. Hey to ever'body! Abysinnia, YMK

February 24, 2006 - Msg 34428: YMK as much as this porch eats, I don't think anyone notices the times anymore. LOL
Hey to you gizzmo how are you today.

February 24, 2006 - Msg 34429:
Howdy porch...this ole rocking chair sure feels good. Good to see everyone.

Hey thanks Goober..I didn't know that Shane had been with the TRIO for the past year. What kind of motorcycle do you have? I ride a Honda Shadow (1300). I grew up on motorcycles.

Mavis...I agree, Joe Gibbs is a God loving man. Thank God for folks that are in the spotlight and still not ashame of their faith. (I just hope he's praying for his driver Tony Stewart cause I think only prayer can change him.)

Romeena...Could you be a little more clearer on your thoughts about the Cowboys? ..LOL... Arlington is already growing like crazy but when they build the new stadium it will be unreal. Over in the Cooper and Collins Street area, it grows (changes) every year that I'm there.

Well folks I'm heading to bed. You all be blessed and have a great night. Prayers for you all.

February 24, 2006 - Msg 34430: Hey Mavis, got those pictures of Feather. Boy, is he cute! I'll show them to Sean tomorrow, thanks. We had the neighbor's little rat terrier puppy get into our yard today by slipping under the fence. He was barely bigger than a tea cup, wish you could have seen him. What a cute little critter. The kids went crazy and what is funny is when we returned him to his mother she just fussed at him. You could tell she was scolding him for crawling under the fence and wandering off. Dogs are so amazing. My 2 have started playing chase with each other just like kids do. Its hilarious to watch them. Jingles will hide behind the shed and wait for Leah to find him and when she does, he takes off with her chasing him. They do this over and over. It amazes me that they are so smart that they can make up games to play with each other just like children. That Jingles is one smart dog. I have to trick him to get him to do things because he learns so quickly and has kind of a mind of his own!

Well, saw The Pink Panther and it was pretty silly. I laughed at a few things but most of it wasn't really my kind of humor. My advice is wait until it comes out on DVD if you see it.

I want to see Michael W. Smith's new movie Second Chances. Its supposed to be out now, I think.

Well, time to go to bed. Good night All,

February 24, 2006 - Msg 34431: Somebody go ahead and make the scene. Go on, gas it up Chickie! (and don't worry about the other Checkpoint Chickie cycle cop)

February 24, 2006 - Msg 34432: Has anyone ever heard of or read the book The Way Back To Mayberry? It's a great book about the values of TAGS and the relevancy and need for it today. ---YMK

February 25, 2006 - Msg 34433: Rain! RAIN! RAAAIN!! We finally got some rain here in north central Texas! Did we ever, and it's still coming down. I went out to my son's house this afternoon, and when I started home tonight, it was pouring. Driving home was a nightmare. Could barely see the front end of the car, let alone the road. I finally just tucked in behind a big old truck and hung in there. I figured he was big enough to shove aside anything that was in the way, so I let him just clear the path. Fortunately, he was going the same way I was, so I followed him almost all the way home. Fred Goss, if that was you in that big rig, thank you! I made it just fine. At least Barney wasn't out giving tickets. Good thing, he'd have been washed away.

Folks, I'm having some problems with the photo album site, it won't let me upload anything new right now. I'm in email contact with the provider, and we're working on it. Just a glitch somewhere, I'm sure it'll be fixed soon. Please keep sending pictures, and I'll get them posted as soon as I can.

Mavis, the Plum says she'd love to have Feather pull her refreshment wagon. Feather is much stronger, I'm sure, and the Plum will enjoy just riding and serving everyone's sodas, cookies and moon pies. Can someone please make Feather a mascot suit like the Plum's? I think they'll make a cute team, sturdy Feather and fluffy Plum.

Sugarplum says hey! --Romeena

Heeeerrrreeee spot, here boy.

Mavis, that's a Saint Bernard (P. Fife) and a big pretty dog.

YMK, never read the book, but sounds good.

February 25, 2006 - Msg 34435: Chuck yes, he is a St. Bernard (P. Fife) & let me tell you, he eats ALOT, he's got Spot and Asa beat hands down. My sister & I sponser him by buying his food, he eats 40# every 2 weeks! I don't mind tho, he does such a service to the community. Ro I figured Plum would like that part about riding along with Feather, whoever decides to make Feather's uniform, remember, her & the Plum are both white, so pick something that shows off thier good side. Rev I agree about Tony Stewart, from what I understand, he stays in trouble with Joe all the time, just wish he would start listening to him. I'm off to bed.

February 25, 2006 - Msg 34444: Morning Buckeye. I don't remember the cushman, but you jog my memory on something else. When I was 18 I bought a brand new motercycle. It was a Honda 175 on/off road bike. I had just left the dealership after buying it and was pulling up to a red light. In the lane next to me was a carload of girls, so naturally I wanted to be impressive. They are all watching me as I pull up next to them and as I stop I go to stick out my leg so I don't tip over. Problem is my pants cuff got caught on a foot rest and I couldn't gey my leg out, and so over I went. BOOM! The girls in the car are laughing like mad. I'm so devastated I can't hardly stand it. My brother inlaw was in his car right behind me as he was the one who took me up to get the bike. He was crying from laughing so hard. He said I looked just like that guy on Laugh In who would ride his trike to a stop and fall over. Boy, glad at least I had a helmet on, not that I hit my head but to hide my face.

Mavis, I read Joe Gibbs book years ago and am very impressed with the man. It sounds like he is still faithful. Success can sometimes change folks. Glad to see he is still humble.

Who wants to give me a gift of Saturday? Any takers? I have a list as long as my arm of honey do's.

They say we will be in the 60's today. Ain't seen that since October. That just might melt the rest of the snow.(big smile)

Good to see you back YMK. How's your ocean looking?

Boo, what breed is Jingles again? My Barney loves to play hide and seek with me. I have to be the hider though. I throw his rubber hamburger and then duck in a closet or somewhere and he goes running all over the place trying to find me. He loves it.

Well best get started on this list. You all have a good one. And act like you got some smarts.

Of course I meant say oops?

February 25, 2006 - Msg 34457: Oh Man, I just wrote a long post and hit a wrong button and lost it! Arrrg!

ASA, HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! That story was hilarious! Thanks for sharing! Maybe we should all share a funny, embarrassing moment....I'll have to think on it.

Mavis, this morning I discovered a tiny white, furry puppy crying in my garage. I am some kind of puppy magnet! Found out it belongs to a neighbor who isn't taking care of it. She is a young girl whose dad buys her dogs and then she doesn't take care of them. My Lab Leah used to belong to her but she didn't feed her so now she is our dog. I cannot take another dog! The girl's uncle is the local dog catcher so I know he won't pick it up. I am so frustrated by the people around her who are too irrespondible to take care of their pets. I can't wait to get out of here and onto my 5 acres with a big fence around it. The other day Jingles dug under the fence and got out and the girl's brother kicked him in the head. Bruce saw it and had a strong conversation with the guy. Bruce is outside right now digging all around the bottom of the fence to put in chicken wire to keep Jingles from digging out!

Asa, to answer your question, Jingles is a terrier mix. He looks alot like a Jack Russell with wirey hair and is a blondis-red color. Ro has a picture of him on her photo site. Hey ASA, is Barney still obsessed with that rubber hamburger?

February 25, 2006 - Msg 34463: Well, I got it out, thanks to **Barn. I think that's why they tell us to be careful using colors and bolds. I've gotten it stuck twice myself. Hey to Asa...thanks for your help earlier, buddy. You're the cats! Bulbsnatcher

February 25, 2006 - Msg 34464: 'Morning, everybody! Having emboldened the whole porch myself a few times, I've learned a trick that helps. I confess I don't always do it, but it's still a good idea. Whenever you've used a bold entry, just for safety's sake, at the end of your post, add another unbold command, just for good measure. That way, if you forgot one up above somewhere, the one on the end will cover it. Your whole post will be bold, but it won't spread to the rest of the porch. If you didn't forget, an extra unbold command won't hurt anything. Just a thought...

We have had some serious rain, and it looks like there will be more today. So glad, we really needed it. I hope everyone who needs it is getting their share.

Well, gotta run. Sugarplum says hey! --Romeena

February 25, 2006 - Msg 34466: Asa - can't believe you never heard of cushmans. . .my neighbor owns three I think and my brother a couple as well. They go to big conventions of cushman folk. In fact, my first ride was on my brothers many years ago. He bought black snakeskin upholstery and my mom did the seats for him. Pretty cool in the 70's!

We ended basketball today. . .trophies for all were awarded.

Ya'll remember Star (my goat) - she is doing great and she is back in the pasture. Just wanted to say thanks for all the critter prayers.

WE have one goat left to kid for right now - we have had 32 babies, 27 survived (which is a really good rate). We are now (with babies included up to 60 goats). That makes me tired just thinking about all those goats. I have been taking baby pictures to put on my website. . .just gotta find to get r done!

February 25, 2006 - Msg 34467: Mavis -- do you have my email address? I'm needing to get in touch with you, if I can. Bulbsnatcher

February 25, 2006 - Msg 34468: Happy Saturday everyone! Thanks for all the congrats (and names) for the baby. Lots of good one's to add to my list. And who knows Me-They, we could have our little porchsters on the same day - that'd beat everything wouldn't it? ;)

Asa - hubby does know. He was running late so I had the tech tell me. Once he got there and the tech was finishing up all her measurements, he asked if we knew what the gender was. I tried to keep a straight face, but it didn't work and so he figured out I knew. He said if I knew then he wanted to know. I think he was a tad disappointed it wasn't a boy, but I think he'll enjoy getting another girl to bless.

Boo - my grandma's middle name is Elizabeth. I'd be her favorite granddaughter if I chose that name. (Actually I told my hubby I should name the baby Quinn Elizabeth - and I'd call her Queen Elizabeth).

Just wanted to wish Mary Wiggins a very happy birthday today. Hope it's a great one. Hail to thee, Miss Junior Mayberry. :)

I'm a 'Skins & Gibbs' fan, too.

Congrats on all your "kids", homemaker!

Good to see bulbsnatcher, YMK and spot! Missed ya!
