June 17, 2006 - Msg 39520: Hey Sterling!

June 17, 2006 - Msg 39521: Hey Millie, congratulations on sweeping the porch. You did a great job.

June 17, 2006 - Msg 39522: PH, I'm working a few more hours now just because I have a lot to learn to do better and more efficiently. It won't be this way for too long. But the reason I'm up at odd hours is I have some sleeping problem. Lately I'm getting about 4 hours a night, but it's starting to take a toll on me.

June 17, 2006 - Msg 39523: Millie, are you still working on the answer to my last question?

from Poor Horatio

June 17, 2006 - Msg 39524: SSSWWWIIIIIISH!

June 17, 2006 - Msg 39525: Ouch Millie, only four hours? Do you have the chance to nap anytime during the day?

from Poor Horatio

June 17, 2006 - Msg 39526: We're installing computers this week.

June 17, 2006 - Msg 39527: No naps. But I'm still so excited I go on adrenoline...and Mt. Dew!lol

June 17, 2006 - Msg 39528: Soory, ph, I'm still working on the soup...

June 17, 2006 - Msg 39529: That's "sorry"....

June 17, 2006 - Msg 39530: Yes adrenoline can work wonders on the human body. It gives you super strength.

I hope you don't continue sleeping so little for too long.

What are you using the computers for?

from Poor Horatio

June 17, 2006 - Msg 39531: That's hubby's field of expertise.....we have them upstairs for ringing in orders....you know, the touch screen type, which prints orders back to the kitchen or bar , but we're putting two in downstairs, in my office and the stockroom. Hubby is trying to get files from upstairs to use downstairs to do inventory electronically. We just got a bar code reader......they've come way down...$37..

June 17, 2006 - Msg 39532: Wow, just read my post....any interlopers tonite would be bored to death!

June 17, 2006 - Msg 39533: Yes, I'm seeing more and more restaurants using computerized food order processing and payments.

Millie, I feel I'm keeping you from finishing up with your soup preparations. I don't want to be responsible for keeping you up later than you expected.

from Poor Horatio

June 17, 2006 - Msg 39534: Millie, I think you found the solution to our security problem!!! Talk about things that interest us but are boring to others!!!

from Poor Horatio

June 17, 2006 - Msg 39535: Oh, ph, I'm happy for the company. The soup'll be done in 10 minutes anyway.
You're a bird in this world!

June 17, 2006 - Msg 39536: lol! Good one, Poor Horatio!

How have the customers been? Have they been increasing in number? What kind of marketing (advertising) are you using?

from Poor Horatio

June 17, 2006 - Msg 39539: msg39533...do you work with restaurants?

June 17, 2006 - Msg 39540: It's a very established neighborhood crowd....June is a typically slow month, but business is good.

June 17, 2006 - Msg 39541: Millie, I posted Msg 39533. And no, I do not work with restaurants ... I just eat in them.

from Poor Horatio

June 17, 2006 - Msg 39542: I'm planning to do radio ads in july, then maybe direct mail.

June 17, 2006 - Msg 39543: sorry, ph,wasn't reading well.

June 17, 2006 - Msg 39544: Millie, you seem exhausted. Am I right? Would you rather take a nap while the soups simmering?

from Poor Horatio

June 17, 2006 - Msg 39545: What's your favorite restaurant? What's it like and why do you like it?

June 17, 2006 - Msg 39546: (I'm not, I'm actually I'm a little jazzed up....soup is done!)

June 17, 2006 - Msg 39547: remove one 'I'm', please.

June 17, 2006 - Msg 39548: I eat in a variety of restaurants. Not sure if I can pick a favorite. But I do like buffets because they have a wide variety of food, the opporunity to try small portions of something new, and the ability to customize my selection in any portion I so desire. I prefer chicken and turkey to steak.

How about you?

from Poor Horatio

June 17, 2006 - Msg 39549: I usually like 'joints'....you know, little out of the way places.....But I also LOVE Ruth's Chris.....have you been there?

June 17, 2006 - Msg 39550: I never heard of Ruth's Chris. What do they serve there?

from Poor Horatio

June 17, 2006 - Msg 39551: It's a steakhouse, but they do lots of stuff.....REALLY good...they have a website, I go there for ideas sometimes..

June 17, 2006 - Msg 39552: They also have the best coffee I've ever had.

June 17, 2006 - Msg 39553: cool show on A&E....celebrity home videos....

June 17, 2006 - Msg 39554: I just checked out their menu at the web site. I see they have soups and salads ... favorites of mine. And their Stuffed Chicken Breast has my mouth watering. mmmmmmmm

from Poor Horatio

June 17, 2006 - Msg 39555: That chicken dish is unbelievable! Just thinking about it is making me hungry!

June 17, 2006 - Msg 39556: I had a great tomato and mozzarella salad there recently.....mmmmmmm....I'm a salad lover myself.

June 17, 2006 - Msg 39557: I checked their location list and found Toronto listed. I'm near there so I will have to find it and check them out.

from Poor Horatio

June 17, 2006 - Msg 39558: What do you think is my best bang for the buck advertising-wise?

June 17, 2006 - Msg 39559: I want to take out ads in school papers and yearbooks....what do you think?

June 17, 2006 - Msg 39560: I would think a web site is your best advertisement for the bucks. Use photos, detailed menu descriptions, driving directions, maps, special announcements. Put your web address on all business cards. In fact, you might want to use outdoor signs with your web address. And light them for nightime.

Also, make up single page advertising flyers. You can hire kids cheaply (or use your own) to place them on car windshields at grocery store parking lots, and commuter train parking lots.

from Poor Horatio

June 17, 2006 - Msg 39561: School papers are a cheap way of advertising. Also contact local churches to advertise in their church bulletins.

Hey Floyd, I'll support anything you want to do here with the porch. Things of late just ain't the same.

Millie, we are getting a Ruths Chris steakhouse here finally in a few months. I hear Sean Hannity going on about them all the time on his radio show.

My goodness Poor Horatio, you have an extensive education. Good for you.

Spot, What is Waffle House? We ain't got any of them around here.

Have a good Saturday everyone. I'm in a golf tournament this morning. Wish me luck. Barney Fife is my golf instructor.

June 17, 2006 - Msg 39605: Hey Spot, thanks for breakfast!! Just returned from seeing my kids and other church family off for their mission trip. What a wonderful sight to see. Before they boarded the buses we all stood in a circle, held hands and had prayer. Those of us not going, stood and watched a mini bus, 15 passenger van, 2 tricks pulling trailers and a car leave in a caravan traveling to La. It was an awesome experience to see. They should arrive there sometime tomorrow afternoon. Again, lets keep them in our prayers. This is the first time both my kids have been gone for an entire week!
House seems kinda quite already. Asa, good luck with your golf tournament. Tom, it is good to see you. please keep sending your poems, don''t let anyone stop you. You guys have a good day and thanks! Big Maude

June 17, 2006 - Msg 39606: Hey folks,

I removed the posts from our "friend" from Irvine, CA. Sorry for the mess.

Tom, you keep right on posting man. You one of the things that make our little corner of Mayberry a special place.

Asa, I'm working on some stuff to do to help with this junk. We'll see if it works.

In the mean time, everything is okay...in Mayberry.

June 17, 2006 - Msg 39607: Hey Big Maude...I didn't see you there!

June 17, 2006 - Msg 39608: Maude....It is amazing how often you post right after Tom. You two dancing up at Omally's cabin? :)

June 17, 2006 - Msg 39609: Poor Horatio, I don't remember exactly the years of the Mayberry at Meadowview Reunions. It was sometime back proabably in the 1990's. Floyd can probably tell us the exact years. I don't remember who asked but Don Knotts was there. Floyd thanks for all you do. Big Maude

June 17, 2006 - Msg 39610: Glad to do it. --Floyd

June 17, 2006 - Msg 39612: Morning Warren! Good to see you.

June 17, 2006 - Msg 39613: Good morning, everyone. Gosh, the porch sure does look a lot cleaner. Thanks, Floyd! --Romeena

June 17, 2006 - Msg 39614: Woah! What happened after I left the porch?! I guess I am glad I went to bed when I did. I didn't forget to wipe my feet when I arrived, did I?;)
Yeah, more and more, I'm thinking the password thing is the way to go, Floyd. (And I still think you should change your name to Andy.;))

June 17, 2006 - Msg 39615: What happened last night? Was their any spam on the porch?

Deputy Warren Ferguson

June 17, 2006 - Msg 39616: I'm so glad things have settled down this morning compared to what we experienced late last night. And a HUGE thanks to Floyd for cleaning up The Front Porch. It's been a trying experience for all of us so far. I'm just glad Floyd is on our side.

TOM Msg 39604, in spite of what happened last night, I'm glad you will continue to visit and read the postings here. If you ever left, we would definitely miss you BIG time. You are a welcome bright spot in our day.

Thanks Maude Msg 39609, I did not realize the Meadowview reunions were that long ago in the 1990's. I'm sorry I missed out on them.

To Asa Msg 39603, yes I've spent a lot of years studying after high school. I'm hoping someday to return and graduate with that third university degree.

To Deputy Warren, and a good morning back at ya. Yes we had more problems that started around 2:45am eastern. Although the postings were very lengthy, I did not notice any offensive language. Some of the postings were poetry about relationships. Some dealt with military and political issues. I personally felt they were just copying from somewhere and pasting in here. It was totally unrelated to what Millie, SPOT and I were discussing at the time. I chose to leave rather than engage the "visitor" in conversation.

from Poor Horatio

June 17, 2006 - Msg 39617: You gave 'em the "BIG FREEZE", Poor Horatio. Good work. That's the best way to deal with folks trying to get a rise out of us. --Floyd

June 17, 2006 - Msg 39618: Ha! That was funny about Omally's cabin!

Boy, I'm gone 2 days and it takes almost 2 hours to catch up on the archives! Lots of opinions flying around. Think I'll keep quiet except to say that awhile back I received some nasty little emails from someone who got my email address of the porch so I would strongly sugggest to the ladies that they only send their email addresses to Floyd.

Wanted to also let you ladies know that I did talk to my friend about the incedent with her little girl and she listened to me and talked to the little girl. The little girl told her mom everything and it turns out she had been molested by a teen-aged friend who is 16. The boy and his family are members of our church so it is going to be a tough situation to deal with, but it WILL be dealt with. My husband is a deacon in our church and he will make sure something is done to protect the other children in our church because the boy has worked in the nursery with his grandmother from time to time. I just hate the whole situation because his mother is a wonderful person and I know how hard it is going to be for her when she finds out. Has to be done, though.

Well, lots to do...will check back later. Just want to say that I don't know if you all realize or not just how much this porch means to me (and all of you)..I think it has been the difference between sanity and insanity for me at times! Its still Mayberry to me and I will always come here because you guys are family to me. I don't desert my family when things get tough. You can count on me, no matter what.

June 17, 2006 - Msg 39619: Just watched "Barneys Sidecar". Easily top 10 AGS material. I think it's better then the top rated episode "Man In A Hurry". "Barneys Sidecar" and "The Pickle Story" wil allways be my favorites, but "Barney And The Govenor" is right up their for me.

The spirit on the porch seems moody in the last few days. I wish it would get back to the old carefree Mayberry porch it allways was, or at least while ive been here. It used be fun and fresh, but now it seems un-interesting and stale.

Where's Barnwannabe? Has he left the porch? I hope he come's back. Im still rocking in my chair at the porch for now. Untill Floyd changes the systam or if the porch stays moody and grumpy Im not leaving.

However I made up my mind if Floyd dous change the systam Im out of here. Im sorry everyone. You are all extermy nice, but youve heard my reasons and points befour.

Look on the bright side. Maybe Floyd will keep the systam we have now, or change it the way I suggested yesterday.

Deputy Warren Ferguson

June 17, 2006 - Msg 39620: My goodness, Boo! How sad! My heart breaks for the boy's mother, and I'm sorry for the boy too, in a way. He's definitely got problems, and I hope they get him some help. I'm so glad you talked to the mom, because now she has talked to the little girl, who has been able to unburden herself and will probably move on now and be okay. Left "undrained" so to speak, that incident would have stayed in her mind and caused a lot of problems later. This just points out the truth, that we need to be so watchful with our kids everywhere, and especially at school and at church.

At church, we tend to be so trusting and to let our guard down, but we just can't do it. A predator is going to go where the pickin's are easy, and where better than a church?

There's a flip side to that, too. Staff members and teachers need to be sure they're not alone with vulnerable kids, because false accusations can be made, and even if proven false later, the doubt has been raised. I know of an instance where a "misfit" weird little teenage girl made some allegations against a young minister, and pretty well ruined his career. I never believed it, and it fell apart in court when she broke down and admitted she was lying. Afterward, she said she was lying in court because she just wanted to get it over with, but that it really did happen! So, once again, the doubt was planted and he had to resign and move on. So sad.

Well, guess I'll go rustle up some lunch. Sugarplum says 10-4. --Romeena

June 17, 2006 - Msg 39621: Hey Warren,

I hope you don't run off no matter what we have to do but either way...stay warm way up there. I bet the winters are tough. --Floyd

June 17, 2006 - Msg 39622: Warren, I'm sorry you're so uncomfortable on the porch right now. I don't think anyone is grumpy, exactly, more like concerned. There's a "presence" with us, and it's not the Count! As I've said before, you're new here. There may be a few things in the background of which you're not aware. Those of us who have been here for many years can feel it, almost smell it. Because of our extensive experience with the porch and with Floyd, we don't have the same reluctance you seem to feel toward giving him your email address. Yes, you've stated your reasons, and personally, I think they're a bit flimsy, but that's just my opinion. Maybe you should reconsider. You are saying you don't want to give your email address to someone who is tried and true, yet you encourage Floyd to give editing powers, however limited, to people about whom he knows nothing! Frankly, I hope he doesn't do it, though I'll cooperate with whatever he decides. I really don't like the idea of unidentified people, including you and me, having any power on the porch.

The BIG FREEZE works with silly kids usually, but I think what we've got lurking around here right now is a bit more than that, and the freeze isn't going to discourage them. Also, even if it's just kids, some of the stuff they have posted in the past has been so foul that I've stayed away for days, afraid to step on the porch for fear of what might greet my eyes. Floyd doesn't sit on the porch 24/7, he does have a life.

So, Warren, as others have said, you just do what you feel you must do. You have your reasons, and they seem valid to you, obviously. Who knows, maybe you could build your own porch, where you can do things exactly the way you want them done. As for me, I intend to keep on rocking right here, whatever Floyd decides. If ever things change to the point that I'm uncomfortable with it, but everyone else seems happy, then I'll leave so quietly that you'll never know I'm gone. --Romeena

June 17, 2006 - Msg 39623: Romeena, I couldn't agree more. Well put. Last night, (this morning, actually) someone started posting lyrics to Fionna Apple songs, and, unwittingly, I may have encouraged it by not giving the BIG FREEZE sooner....I'm sorry for that. These are the realities of an 'open' forum, and I understand that. I completely trust Floyd, and I hate to sound cold, but if you don't, don't let the door hit ya....I WILL be here, count on that. You guys have been a touchstone for me, and I owe you all. I LOVE this place, no jerk is going to scare me off.

Now, back to the business of Mayberry.....

June 17, 2006 - Msg 39624: Wow, Im sorry you guys feel that way about me.

Deputy Warren Ferguson

June 17, 2006 - Msg 39625: I guess Warren's never really fit in, in Maybery. After the last two post's by Milie and Romeena, I really don't feel welcome on the porch anymore. The only person I feel is supporting me on the porch at the moment is Poor Harioto. He allways has made me feel welcome, evan in the last few day's.

Deputy Warren Ferguson,

Possibly signing off FOR GOOD.

June 17, 2006 - Msg 39626: I intend no offense to you, Warren. I just don't happen to agree with your assessment of the current situation here on the porch. I don't blame you for that, I just think you haven't been here long enough to make a valid judgment, and wish you'd take another look at things. If you don't wish to make your email address available to Allan, that's fine. It's your choice. It's funny, though. The last time I purchased an airline ticket online, they wanted my name, address, credit card number and email, and I gave it to them. Wouldn't you? It was either that or drive out to the airport to buy a ticket. The last check I wrote at the grocery store was handed to a pimply-faced kid with a tongue stud and an infected eyebrow ring, and that check had a lot of personal information on it, including my checking account number. Still, it's that or carry large amounts of cash, which is a dangerous practice, too.

I guess it comes down to this. If you're going to stay, then stay and you are welcome. If you're going to leave, then leave, and we'll miss you. Just don't keep warning us about it - "do it my way or I'm leaving" - it begins to sound like a threat, and no one likes that, including you. I truly don't believe you intended it that way.

My hope is that we can all stay together here on the porch, remain friends, and allow Floyd to do what he must do in order to preserve the spirit of Mayberry that we've always enjoyed. Our world is changing, both real and cyber. I used to feel free to leave my garage door open during the day, as I went about my business. No more. An element has invaded our town (and my street) that makes that practice very unsafe. So, I have a keypad lock on the door, and if I go around back even for a couple of minutes, I shut the door. It's too bad, but it's necessary. The times they are a-changing. --Romeena

June 17, 2006 - Msg 39627: Warren, I didn't see your last post until I posted mine. It's certainly not my intent to make you feel unwelcome, nor do I believe Millie had such as that in mind. If it felt that way to you, then please accept my apologies. All I'm trying to do is calm your fears, and encourage you to stick around and be a part of things, if you want to. If you don't, that's your choice - this is America, after all. If you wish to stay, stay and be welcome. If you wish to go, go with our blessings. Just know that as a general policy, here on the porch the majority rules, and Floyd's vote constitutes a majority, since he built it, runs it, sweeps it and maintains it, and he works pretty cheap. The only pay he ever receives is the occasional "Thanks, Floyd.

My best wishes for you, Warren, would be that you relax, let the Mayberry breezes blow for a while, and watch to see what happens. You're as welcome here as anyone else, and I really hope you can get comfortable with that.

Sugarplum says 10-4. --Romeena

AUh20- I hear what you are saying-- we need a good old fashion quote-a-thon like we did at Barney's passing. Get that mayberry spirit back on the porch.
Also, we have missed several of our long timers, like Charlotte, hazel, Salty dog, Ellen brown, Mrs Wiley,AFD, etc. Sure would be nice to have them back again. Sure nice to have new ones to, as long as they understand the meaning of the "banner line" at the top of the page.
Well, tomorrow is te big 30th Anniversdary celebration, so I shall see you, Lord willin', on Monday!

I talked to my friend a bit more today and she has decided to go talk with our friend and Pastor to talk to the family of the boy soon. Very sad, indeed, but I feel like the family is one that will do whatever is needed to get help for their son and prevent it from happening again.

I asked you folks to pray for my friends Keith and Linda last week and I found out today that Linda is probably not going to make it. Her lungs are just too bad to support her and she can't make it off the ventilator. The family is gathering this weekend (probably to discuss removing the ventilator) so please pray for them, if you would. Thank you.

I had to decorate for Vacation Bible school today and I am ready to rest for awhile. Next week is a busy week. I'll be teaching Kindergarten kids in VBS. That will be a first for me, I usually have the older kids. Better go....

June 17, 2006 - Msg 39641: And Ro, if you ever left, everyone would know.
You are the reason I kept coming here, even before I ever posted.

June 17, 2006 - Msg 39642: Boo, prayers for Linda and Keith....I'm so sorry.

June 17, 2006 - Msg 39643: Don't worry about it, Millie, I think everyone knew what you were talking about. You are an A-1 nice person, so don't feel bad.

June 17, 2006 - Msg 39644: Oh and thanks for the prayers for Keith and Linda..

June 17, 2006 - Msg 39645: Millie, message 39643 refers to your post about using the word "jerk". My, what a nice thing to say about Romeens. She really is something special.

June 17, 2006 - Msg 39646: Oh no!! That last post sounds like I was saying you called Ro a jerk!...I certainly didn't mean that!

June 17, 2006 - Msg 39647: Boo! You're so funny! Thanks for the smile.

June 17, 2006 - Msg 39648: Hahaha! Who's on first? No, Who's on second, What's on first, etc. --Romeena

June 17, 2006 - Msg 39657: No offense, but I think I'll skip supper, Millie. A friend called and said she's hungry for shrimp and crab legs, and those are magic words for me. We know a buffet that has both on the line on Friday and Saturday nights, so we're there! Save me a little dish of that mac and cheese, though, will you? One of my favorites...

June 17, 2006 - Msg 39658: Romeena you and those crab legs!!..ha ha...but boy they sure are good I boiled some mid week...garlic butter....whew.....you like soft shell crab?...we need to have a sea food night on the porch...I will plan it....SPOT

June 17, 2006 - Msg 39659: I'm serving softshells at the restaurant all weekend.....big seller.

June 17, 2006 - Msg 39660: OK, Spot, you be in charge and just tell me what I can bring besides a bib and an appetite. I don't know that I've eaten much soft shell crab - I like the king crab or snow crab legs, crack 'em open, pull out that big old hunk of crab meat and dip it in lemon butter - oh my goodness! If the Lord made anything any better, He kept it for Himself! Anywy, you plan the seafood thing, and I'll bring some slaw, the Plum will bring a bag of carrots for any vegetarians in our midst, and we'll all bring an appetite. Sugarplum says 19-4. --Romeena

June 17, 2006 - Msg 39661: Hey Porch,
Hope y'all had a great day! We have been busy the last 2 days with errands and such. Do y'all have big plans for Father's Day? Hubby bought a class and his plane fair so we're tapped out. I'll make a pie and his favorite salmon/steak dinner. We're gonna watch Lady and the Tramp tonight. I like it more than Bryson, him being a "cool" 8 year old boy. Cheaper by the dozen comes on TBS tomorrow night.
Boo- I'm sorry about what has all transpired with the situation, but maybe now the boy will get help. I wonder why the victim didn't tell her Mom sooner then maybe it wouldn't have happened with Erin. I think you've handled it all beautifully! We love you too!
Warren- Things may be a little different right now, but even bad things happened in Mayberry. We'll all just pray that it'll get better real soon. I hope you stay. Remember, enthusiasm is contagious. If you want everyone to be happy then be encouraging yourself.
Tom- Please send another poem soon. I haven't read one lately.
Big Maude- That's wonderful for your children. When I was 15 I went on a mission trip to Mexico and it changed my life. Unfortunately my Spanish was terrible and accidently told one kid to sit on God, but it was wonderful none the less.
MDC- Happy Anniversary! What a milestone. What's your secret?
Romeena- How old is Sugarplum?
Millie- You should take some valarian to help you sleep. Its a relaxing herb that you can find at a health food store. I take an epsom salt bath with lavendar every single night to go to sleep. I have restless leg syndrome and it helps.
Rev & Mavis- Hey and hope you're doing well!
I'd better get the pizza in before the movie starts. Y'all take care! God bless you all!

June 17, 2006 - Msg 39662: Mil, how do you prepare softshell crab? --Romeena

June 17, 2006 - Msg 39663: Hey Spot and Floyd! ~lucy

June 17, 2006 - Msg 39664: Oh, hi, Lucy! Sugarplum is eleven and a half, and still thinks she's two. Full of energy, nosy as a cat, playful - you'd never know she was that old. I hope for another five or six good years with her at least, God willing. I do take very good care of her, limit her "people food" to tiny tidbits (except her carrots, which her vet approves of), get her checkups yearly, use heartworm preventer, annual dental cleaning, all the little things that help to keep them healthy. Also, she is strictly an indoor dog, which eliminates the threat of a lot of environmentally-acquired problems. --Romeena

June 17, 2006 - Msg 39665: Ro, you batter it up and cook it....you eat the whole thing......mmmmmmm, good!

June 17, 2006 - Msg 39666: That's battered and fried.

June 17, 2006 - Msg 39667: I serve 'em with a mustard horseradish sauce.

June 17, 2006 - Msg 39668: I'm backing you Warren!!! And I thought that ya'll were like Mayberry, not judging anybody for their opinion!!! I have been at a fish fry all day, and didn't know what was going on. I don't like it one bit. If it continues, I'm gonna be leaving right along with Warren, and you'll know it, I'll make you know it. Barnwannabe, mad Mayberrian

June 17, 2006 - Msg 39669: Okay, Okay, I get the message. I'm outta here....

June 17, 2006 - Msg 39670: But I'm miffed.

June 17, 2006 - Msg 39671: We all need some of the Indian elixir or rum fruitcake!

June 17, 2006 - Msg 39672: HI ALL.

June 17, 2006 - Msg 39673: hi ya'll - I heard about the porch from barnwannabe and thought I would drop in for a visit. What's going on in Mayberry tonight. I'm in Florida and might want to mosey up for a visit.
Thelma Lou Wannabe

June 17, 2006 - Msg 39674: The Thel! Welcome to Mayberry! I hope you'll enjoy your stay. We've had just a bit of trouble with "Ben Weaver" type folks of late so if you spot one...just ignore 'em and give 'em "the big freeze." I'll take care of 'em as soon as I can.

Tom - Good to see you. I'm glad you'll be around our little corner of Mayberry.

Hey to everybody else I didn't mention by name. Today's been a good day here on the porch (after the early hours of the morning at least)..no interlopers.

June 17, 2006 - Msg 39675: I'm not gone ya'll, I just got miffed that certain people were judging Warren for his opinion, and not his personality, and I wasn't talkin' about Millie. I'm sorry she left. I told Thelmalouwannabe about the sight, and she's kin to me. Thanks, Barnwannabe

June 17, 2006 - Msg 39676: thanks for the warm welcome to the porch - I hope I can visit from time to time but I stay busy working and raising the kids you know so don't have too much free time - but I love the Mayberry Family and am excited to be a part of such a loving town - see you soon - thelmalouwannabe

June 17, 2006 - Msg 39677: Barn...NO MORE THREATS. Leave or stay. No more FBI threats. No more "If it continues, I'm gonna be leaving.....and you'll know it, I'll make you know it. " I'm sorry but I won't put up with it.

You are a guest here on the porch. You are welcome to stay but I'm tired of dealing with you acting like a 5th grade boy (or Goober) and making threats over and over.

You and Warren both make up your mind and if you leave...that's fine. We'll all hate it by you are adults (not 5th graders) so make up your mind and stop making threats.

I don't know how I can make this more clear.

Now, "Act like somebody."

June 17, 2006 - Msg 39678: Welcome Thelma Lou Wannabee. Your friend Barnwannabe just told us he was leaving and was going to, "make us know it". So, you are welcome to stay but wanted to let you know your friend left, in case it matters to you.

Come back and chat, Millie...it's ok.

June 17, 2006 - Msg 39679: (lurking in the shadows)

June 17, 2006 - Msg 39680: I've been reading archives, can't recall this kind of 'moulage' ever happening before here.

June 17, 2006 - Msg 39681: Thel...I'm sorry you're getting here right in the middle of this behavior. We really are a good can caring town and I hope you'll drop by and get to know everybody.

I'm sorry if I sound harsh with Barnwannabe. If you'd like to read the archives for the last few days, you'll see why I'm having to behave more like Andy right now when he's dealing with Barney.

I feel like Barn has turned in his resignation letter three times and written me a letter from "Benard P. Fife, Attorney at Law" telling us all we better watch out or his FBI cousin will get us.

It's really not like this around here most of the time. Every three months or so a "moulage" occurs and it gets dealt with. It'll all blow over in a few days.

Until then, we really do welcome you to Mayberry.

June 17, 2006 - Msg 39682: Hey Millie,

The Moulages happen....this one will go away soon enough. Don't worry about it. I've been here for 15 years doing this. They always blow over.

June 17, 2006 - Msg 39683: Thanks, Floyd.
Thanks Boo.

June 17, 2006 - Msg 39684: Lucy, you are so funny!...Indian elixir! ha I forgot to thank you for your kind words to me. I hope I am handling everything well. Erin was talking to me about it again and she said that she had a hard time saying "no" to her friend. I said, "Well, you can come to me and I will say no for you. Mamma is here to help you." and she said, "Are you on my back, Mamma?" (meaning to say "Have you got my back Mamma?"). I said, "Yes, Mamma's got your back, Baby" and you should have seen her smile!!

June 17, 2006 - Msg 39685: Good for you Boo. You're a good Mamma.

June 17, 2006 - Msg 39686: Let's all sing: "I'm sorry I broke your heart, Mother"....

June 17, 2006 - Msg 39689: Toot Toot! That piano is jumpin'!
You're welcome, Boo. Its important for your daughter to know that you're always there. Good job!
As y'all may or may not know, I have a bachelors in fashion marketing so I spend a lot of time noticing fabrics, designs, fittings, colors, and so on of clothing. I have decided that Thelma Lou's shirtdresses need to make a comeback. vermontcountrystore.com has a small selection, but they are quite costly. What do y'all think of Thelma Lou v. Helen Crumps attire? I think Aunt Bea's is a little too Queen of England. Don't ya wonder what in the world they carry in that little clutch purses hanging on their wrist?
~lucy matthews

June 17, 2006 - Msg 39690: Oh, well, excuse my lack of manners there for a minute. WELCOME Thelma Lou wannabe to our fine front porch. Pull up a rocker, grab a glass of tea (sweet of course), and relax with friends.
Blessings to you and yours,

June 17, 2006 - Msg 39691: I agree, lucy, I always liked Thel's shirtwaist dresses......I saw some similar at the mall. Maybe they are making a comeback. Remember the blue dress Helen wore to Howard's 'bash'? I thought it was maternitywear!

June 17, 2006 - Msg 39692: Didn't Lucy Matthews wear those same dresses like Thel?

June 17, 2006 - Msg 39693: Hey Lucy,Big Maude,Mil...Romenna you will be in charge of the slaw when we have our sea food cook out...you make good slaw....Floyd you do good work thanks again..Thanks TOM for the poem once again...quite here at work...makes for a long night but the singing will help!...hey boo,haratio,...welcome Thel!..good to have ya..i try to do alot of the cooking for the porch..Im in Ga. the southern end of the porch...well back to this crazy movie "Mothman"...Mil you bettr not go anywhere...SPOT

June 17, 2006 - Msg 39695: I love it, but with RC.

June 17, 2006 - Msg 39696: Millie- Yep, my character namesake wore shirtwaist dresses. They are flattering if you have a small waist and bigger hips like myself. I know I live in GA, but I like Pepsi's!

June 17, 2006 - Msg 39699: bubby baby buuggy bumpy

June 17, 2006 - Msg 39700: Good evening porch. My goodness, lots of goings on here today.

Floyd, I think you said what had to be said and did so very well. I hate to see folks feel like they are not welcome here, but as far as I can see folks have been warm and friendly to everyone. So I don't understand where Warren and Barnwannabe are coming from at all. I do know that I don't like the threat made by Barnwannabe. No call for acting like that. I have seen two folks apologize to you (in both cases I didn't think they needed to). Maybe you need to calm down and consider doing the same. I don't mean to talk down to you or anything, but these folks are my friends here, and when you come after them like that you're going to find we will all stick together. Please cool it with the threats and silliness. Play nice, and like Floyd said, act like somebody, and you'll do fine here. Deal?

Millie, I have me a hankerin for a nice chocolate pie. You got it in you to whip one up for me tonight?:)

Spot, how was Apollo 13? Thats my favorite movie ever. Loved the book.

Hope you all have a blessed Sabbath tomorrow.

June 17, 2006 - Msg 39701:
Hey Porch

Lucy-With all that is going on here at the porch lately your description about Aunt Bea made me laugh out loud, "I think Aunt Bea's is a little too Queen of England." Excellent!

Floyd-Keep on keeping on. Nothing like a Law-an-Order barber. Hey, wasn't that on NBC for a while.

MDC-Here's one of my fav's,
"Do you have any idea how hard it is to work with someone who thinks he knows everything?"

God Bless,
