October 24, 2008 - Msg 67344:

I hate to hear about your grandson, Ro. I know it must be awfully disappointing to miss the rest of the season.

Boo, so sorry Bruce's back is causing so much pain. I've had surgeries and a plethora of ailments in my 5+ decades, but I have to say one recent incident of back pain was the WORST pain I've ever experienced. It was the kind of pain that makes you question the meaning of life. Ok, maybe not literally, but it was sickening and intolerable. My prayers go up for him, and for you, who takes care of him. I hope the docs can figure out something to help him. Can't have him walking crooked.

Asa, my dad had that fusion surgery and it helped a LOT. His disk problem was causing extreme pain in his legs, yet he recovered well. I'll lift you up in prayer. Back pain might just be the worst pain ever.

Great to see you, Salty Dog. Don't be a stranger!

Me-They, like Hazel, I wasn't the least bit offended either. I can't tell you how much I enjoyed the video. Whatta hoot!

Possum, prayers for you and your husband. I'm so sorry you're going through this. That alcohol is a powerful force.

October 25, 2008 - Msg 67353: possum I'm sorry for your troubles, if I can do anything at all, please let me know. I've "been there, done that" with the alcoholic husband, right down to getting a call in the middle of the night from the police department telling me they had mine at the hospital, then were transporting him to the jail. I left mine sitting too. Prayers for you my dear friend!
SALTY DOG!! what a sight for sore eyes! I'm so glad to see you back in your rocker! Hope there wasn't too much dust on it, we been trying to teach Asa how to clean, but he keeps using the excuse that he can't, he works nights ya know. ;) Me-They even when you try you can't help but moulage, must be in yer blood, or is it the fallout, it IS affecting our milk after all. Rev crawdad/crayfish meatloaf? count me in, sounds wonderful! Spot you & possum can fix those for us can't you?
CHARLOTTE! boy feels like a family rebellion on the porch today! So many faces we've missed seeing. As for the skin issue with your little furkid, could be any number of things causing it. Fleas, diet, allergies, just to name a few. What breed is it? email me k9hairstyles @ aol.com (without the spaces of course) I could figure it out better that way. One thing I will say for the smell, 1 part apple cider vinegar to 3 parts water, mix in a spray bottle & spray on the areas she is scratching at the most. It helps soothe the skin, course, she'll smell like a salad, but it won't last long. :) I keep a bottle mixed up on both floors of the house & in the motorhome.
I think we need an incant for back misery, mine has been giving me down the road lately too.
Well, best get off here & hit the ironing board, if I can sleep that is.

October 25, 2008 - Msg 67355: Wow, it's 11pm and I am finally getting a chance to read today's posts. Some serious stuff. First of all, I will pray for you, ASA. It is unsettling, to put it mildly, to think that it might get worse and effect your job.

Secondly, I am very concerned about Possum's situation. I remember something about her life before she remarried her husband and it did seem like she was doing well. I know she can move on and make a good life for herself. My prayers for you Possum. You are such a nice person and you deserve better. Prayers for you husband, as well. God help him stop destroying himself before it's too late.

Prayers for your dear wife, Floyd.

Very nice to see the missing porch-sitters today! Wonderful to hear from Charlotte..."What's yer hurry?"...slow down a bit and visit us more often.

Thank you REV, for your prayers on our behalf. It is a comfort.

To Me-They I will say, sorry you found yourself in the middle of a messy moulage that you never intended! Hope you don't feel too bad. I know your meant well. Guess most people are on edge right now with the election so close and so much at stake.

Well, I think I hear my bed calling me and I am pretty tired so I will call it a night.

PS-Possum, like Hazel said, please feel free to email if you would like to talk. You can get my email address from Romeena. ((((big hug))))

hm my niece has Cystic Fibrosis & bless her little heart, she goes through alot for such a little one (she's 3) she's one tough little cookie though & I think it's because of what she has had to endure with the CF. Her Dr. told my brother when they had first diagnosed her to lick her, she would taste VERY salty. He (the Dr) said it was an old "country doctor" test he learned while studying the disease. Bill (my brother) said it's true, he tried it. Just a little something interesting I thought.
Sorry Me-They if that made you want to go wash your mouth out. Wasn't trying to cause you to shiver, just conversatin' :)

Land sakes, Charlotte Tucker, how nice to see you again. First Salty Dog, now you. This is great. I'm gonna tie you both down to your rockers so you can't leave. You too Des. You don't drop by near often enough. Thanks for your prayers for my back everyone.
Floyd, was Jan's surgery a fusion? That's typical of the ones I have heard about that are not so effective. I will add her to my prayer list. It's just plainm miserable.

Mavis, you're such a dear. I know your last few years have been tough, but it's so wonderful to see you back and happy and content. Hope your back gets feeling better soon.

Hey folks, I think Romeena's still snoozing. What say we sneak in her room and tuck her sheets under her bed legs. I can't lift the bed though. Spot, you lift and I'll tuck. It's always fun to watch her fighting to get out when her alarm goes off.

October 25, 2008 - Msg 67367: Good morning, all. Wow - just look at the folks who've dropped by. Charlotte Tucker, De§, and of course, Salty Dog. It's always so nice when home folks come home.

Possum, I'm just so sorry you're having to deal with this. It has to be awful, having to enter a world that's so unfamiliar. Not to make light of it, but just to make you smile (maybe) here's the closest I ever came to that, and it wasn't very close. Our oldest son was a junior at North Texas U, and living in Denton. One night he was stopped by an officer, and when they ran his license, they found he had several unpaid traffic tickets in Dallas. Like many young men, he had just blown them off, thinking the world would forgive and forget, like Mom and Dad had always done. Well, the world doesn't forget, and the cops hauled him to jail. He had about $10 on him, so couldn't help himself at all. He had a problem, because believe me, he KNEW he'd better not call us to get him out of jail, especially since his dad had warned him never to let a ticket go unpaid and his mom (me) had warned him to never get the bloomin' tickets in the first place!! So, he called a girl with whom he'd only had a couple of dates. Believe it or not, she came and bailed him out, but it cost him dearly. She ragged on him all the way back to Denton, and probably still is doing so, because she eventually became his wife and they're still happily married. Don'tcha love it??

Maybe you should take your husband and drop him off with his mother. I have a friend at work who tells this story. As it happens, they're Hispanic, and in most Latino homes, mom often has the final word, especially with the sons. Anyway, this friend and her husband were having problems. He was drinking a lot, and was becoming verbally abusive to her. One night he came home drunk, got loud and slapped my friend! He didn't know his mother was there, in the kitchen and she saw it all. She came out of the kitchen with a broom in her hand and started whaling on him with that broom. Then she grabbed his ear and twisted it until she had him on his knees, then started yanking his hair and whacking him with the broom again, until he was blubbering like a baby, had knobs on his head and quite a few broomstick-shaped bruises. Finally, she handed the broom to the wife (my friend) and said, "Now, that's the way you handle this kind of behavior. You'd better do it next time, but if you can't, just call me, because I sure can! His father learned, and so will he!" My friend said the guy cleaned up his act, and they have been married for about forty years.

Funny stories, but true. I know your problem goes much deeper, but I just wanted to make you laugh. Praying for you, love.

Now, I've got to run. Breakfast casserole is in the oven, I need to get in the shower, then Eloise and I are going out to a brunch/meeting of Mongolia trippers - the missionary we worked with over there is here, just to maintain contact with friends and report on the work there. Should be a great morning! Be blessed, all. --Romeena

October 25, 2008 - Msg 67368: Haha, fooled you, Asa. I've been up for two hours, I was just working in the kitchen, trying to be quiet and not wake everyone else. --Romeena

October 25, 2008 - Msg 67369: hahahaha, that is an hilarious mental image, ASA...thanks for the laugh. Poor Romeena.

Hope all goes well for Possum today...Lord be with her.

Sorry you have to go back to work tonight, SPOT. I will try to come back and chat if I'm up late...went to bed late last night and was up early so we'll see. I know you miss Millie. It is so hard to lose a good friend.

Mavis, I learned about the "country doctor" test in nursing school. I never forgot it but never had the chance to use it. I have never worked pediatric.

This for you, Chuck...."GO HOGS!!!"

Andy: "You got Otis to confess? He came crawling in here on his hands and knees hollerin' "There's and elephant behind me!""

October 25, 2008 - Msg 67370: Oh hey there Romeena, you're up (darn it)...the plan failed...maybe we can catch her tomorrow, guys. I LOVED the stories...the one about the mom might be my new favorite story. Now, if more moms did that, we would have alot less domestic violence, wouldn't we? haha

Boo

October 25, 2008 - Msg 67371: Oh, almost forgot, Ro. My mom tells a story about one of her relatives whose husband came home drunk and beat her up. She waited until he passed out on the bed, then she sewed him up in the bedsheet and proceeded to beat him half to death with a broomstick. He straightened up. The way I see it, these guys were lucky (Remember Lorena Bobbit?).

Boo

October 25, 2008 - Msg 67372: I guess you have to get up pretty early in the morning to pull one over on Romeena. We'll get her next time Boo. Is Bruce feeling any better?

Possum, it sounds like your Husband could use some quality time with Bloody Mary. Seemed to help Otis for a while. I'm not trying to make light of your situation but rather trying to hopefully make you smile. I am truly sorry with what you are dealing with right now. But things will get better and life will be good again, and as Andy told Goober once "the sun will shine in your backdoor again soon" or something to that affect. Blessing for you dear.

October 25, 2008 - Msg 67377: Hey Y'all-first of all, I can't say enough about how your care & concern helps me. You are truly Godsends to me.
Ro,I wish his mom would whoop up on him like the lady in your story! But he has the kind of mom who babies him-he's her only son,you know the type,I'm sure. She's Italian-she feeds him! Plus, his mom lives next door to his sister on property she (sister) owns and she is adamant that he better not come back there! So,I'll be stuck with him until I can figure things out. I rely on his income and was not working in order to be here for Laci. My daughter takes her certification on Nov. 7th,then expects to get a job. She will pay me for keeping Laci.We don't want to just toss her into daycare or preschool. She's not quite ready,as she is developmentally delayed. The Lord put Laci into this family for a reason.I worked with disabled kids for over 20 years.I have helped her so much (not bragging, but it is true) and I want to be here for her until she starts school next year.Right now my husband and I can't afford to maintain two households.I don't have enough in the bank to live on,so I may end up having him here for a while, until he can get his ducks in a row, find somewhere to live and all that. Then, between my daughter paying me,I will expect(make that GET) some money from him as well, and I think I'd be okay then. I just can't chunk him out onto the street right now. But,as I said, this is it.Enough is enough.
By the way,he's still in jail. They haven't set bond on him yet. So,it's tomorrow morning around 9am.Lovely way to spend a Sunday, before a judge and all, huh? As far as his truck goes,he's going to have to deal with that himself.I went over to the town he got stopped in and their police dept. is closed on Sat.& Sunday! So I hit a dead end there. I did go to the jail to take his prescription medicine to him. I'd want mine if I was locked up (heaven forbid!) so it was the right thing to do,because you will get very ill if you stop taking an antidepressant,as he does. I dropped it and left.Didn't want to see him. That'll come in the morning and I'm not looking forward to it,but I have to. I called his mom to tell her he had to stay in one more night, but I would get him out and she was so pitiful-crying,etc.wanting me to try to work things out with him,she loves me,etc. So sad how an alcoholic can hurt other people so.But,I have pretty much lost hope where he's concerned.
Well,I've taken up enough space here,so guess I'll shut up! I will be okay, friends.I am a child of the most high God and I know who holds my tomorrows.
I love y'all.

October 25, 2008 - Msg 67388: Good evening, folks. I love My Cousin Vinny! One of my favorite movies.
I was bored tonight, so I decided to search thru the archives and see if I could find when Asa and Salty Dog invented the Asalty Dog 2k. HA! I found it, and what a stroll down memory lane it was. They actually invented it to help with peoples necks, but it became a neck/back/general ailment fixer-up. I had forgotten, but it was actually me that named it for them. Here's the post:

November 05, 2001 - Msg 3098: SD and Asa, you better include me in that informercial. After all, I was the first customer. I would of course be the featured star. I would come on and say "yes indeed, that neck hanger sure worked for me. Before the treatment I was all crumpled over in pain. And now I feel so much better. I look different too! After the treatment, I stand 5 foot 9 inches. Before I was 5 foot 5 inches. With a few more treatments I may not be overweight at all! And the treatment is all natural... some concoction made out of mulberries. Tastes great! hic Yes sir, I would definitley recommend the "Asalty Dog" treatment. It worked for me, and it can work for you too!!" (How'd that sound?) I think you two could make a lot of money on the project. Beats growing mushrooms in the basement, or weaving old tires into floor mats and purses and other attractive items.
- Hazel

Sure brought back memories. And in my travels thru the posts, it sure made me miss some folks. Fungirl, Bulbsnatcher, Mary Wiggins, Rock, Ms. Weezee (who later changed her name to Ellen Brown), and other folks as well. Sure wish they'd come back. I even found auh2o's first post. I also found a pep-talk that Asa gave to us when he was coaching our softball team. (Msg. 11533 on January 18th, 2003) Too funny.

Well, see ya later

October 25, 2008 - Msg 67389: Glad to see you are doing so well, Possum. Prayers continue..

Praying for you from here, you can get through this, not saying it will be easy, but you can do it. Hazel that is just too funny, I had almost forgotten about the mulberries being an important part of that contraption, I seem to remember, it just wouldn't work without them. hehe I miss all those folks too, I wish they would check in. One thing about this porch when folks just quit showing up, I worry about them, that is why I have instructed both Mr. Neff & Jacob, if something were to ever happen to me, to PLEASE come on here & let you good folks know. Boo you could help me look for paint & I could help you look for tile & things like faucets and things. It would be a ton of fun! Right now it looks like the papers will finally be signed next week, I am so ready for it, after all the hurdles we've had getting this far. Thank goodness we haven't lost the contract on the house. Long story about the first lender we were using, what a bunch of jerks they turned out to be! Mavis, you make a good point. I have asked my sister to let you all know if anything ever happened to me...let's hope she and I don't "go" together! ha.

Hey SPOT, I saw that The Lost Voyage was on but opted for the TAGS episode...unfortunately they were rather dull, color eps. Wish it was 50 degrees here tonight. It's humid and feels warm. We are supposed to get another front early on Monday, though...which will cool us off into the 70-80's during the day. I'll pass on the snack. I made some M&M cookies tonight for Erin and had a couple already with some milk. Would you like some?

Better think about hitting the hay so I will be able to stay awake for sunday school in the mornig! Goodnight friends (((hug)))

October 26, 2008 - Msg 67401: Prayers for you, Possum.

Mavis, I just went back and read day one of the porch and it was so funny. Some of the porch names were great (Plain Claude, Mr. Cookie Bar, Judy Judy Judy). Very clever. Funny quotes, too. I am enjoying the trip down memory lane.

Better break free and get ready for preachin', though...who's wearing earrings?

Boo

October 26, 2008 - Msg 67402: Good morning, all. Beautiful Sunday morning, just 60 degrees here, will probably make the mid-70s or so. Good pansy planting weather, which I'll do tomorrow. My friend has a good stock in his garden center, will go get some.

Hazel, thanks so much for sharing your archive adventure with us. I haven't made the trip yet, but probably will this afternoon. Sounds like a lot of fun.

Hmmm. Guess I'd better tell my family to let you all know if anything happens to me. Hadn't thought about that. They probably would, though. If they didn't, I'll bet Eloise would think of it. REV, you could contact the church, now that you know folks there - they'd know. I do wish we had some way of checking on folks who disappear, so we aren't worried. I'm very concerned for Mary Wiggins and for Merri Weather, among others. Those two just dropped from sight. I've emailed both of them, and the emails don't come back, so I know the addresses are still good. Very strange. I miss them.

Well, time to get ready for church. Starr is informing me that she hasn't had her breakfast yet - I suppose that should be my first move. Blessings, friends. --Romeena

October 26, 2008 - Msg 67403: I thought I'd wear some, Boo. They're kinda dangly, though. Do you think that's okay? --Romeena

October 26, 2008 - Msg 67404: Sure...my hearings are big, silver hoops, so I think dangly would be ok...don't you?

Boo

October 26, 2008 - Msg 67405: uh,...I mean earrings...oops..

Boo

October 26, 2008 - Msg 67406: By the way, I thought you had asked Rob to let us know if something happened to ya, Ro?

Boo

October 26, 2008 - Msg 67407: You know, Ro, another one I worry about it Dixie Belle. I keep hoping maybe she found "Mr. Right" and is now to busy to check in...Last we heard from her, I think her mom was dealing with cancer and she had started a teaching job, so maybe she is just very busy.

I sure do wonder about Merri Weather, though. Remember that Mary Wiggins checked in again not long ago, so she is probably ok...I wonder about Mrs. Wiley and Fungirl.

Got to go to preachin'....waiting for MIL to finish her make-up....

Boo

October 26, 2008 - Msg 67408: Good Sabbath to ye friends. I'm working today.

POSSUM: I'm so sorry to hear about your troubles. I think others have said anything I could have said, and better. You know you have friends here and we're praying for you.

Man! With all the back problem around here lately, I feel like I'm standing in stag line with Mr. Schwamp and bunch of slumped-over teenage boys. Seriously, prayers for all your aching backs. Having been there before, I know it's no fun.

CHARLOTTE: So nice to finally hear from you! We thought maybe you'd changed your name to Helen Alexian Dubois and were on tour with your new book.

You, too, DES, and thanks.

I'm also wondering where AFD is lately. She usually checks in every few weeks or so, at least, but it's been quite awhile now.

I don't remember MERRIWEATHER checking in.

The last we heard of DIXIE I recall that she was enjoying her new job and was getting ready to go out on a date. Hope things went up from there.

HAZEL: You always know when to buzz in.

BOO: I didn't wear any earrings to church today--thought it'd be too much. Can I have a cookie?

MDC: Thanks.

October 26, 2008 - Msg 67409: And MAVIS: This is a "no licking zone."

M-T

October 26, 2008 - Msg 67410: Not a lick?
- Hazel

October 26, 2008 - Msg 67411: Hey Y'all. Well,Mr. Possum is out of jail and boy, what happened with him is totally crazy. To put it bluntly,it seems he was a victim of small town police corruption.I think I told y'all that the town he got stopped in has a reputation for being corrupt.Well, here's what happened-will try not to make it so long:
He was on his way home thru that town Thurs. night after going to check on some work equipment in a nearby town because they were to work over there Friday. He had his Nextel charging on his passenger seat & it fell to the floor. He bent down to pick it up and went over the center line. A cop lying in wait saw him swerve, pulled him and asked if he'd been drinking. He said "No" and cop began to plunder through his truck, looking for whatever. Did breath test/sobriety test-nothing. He was NOT drinking. I have seen the ticket-blood analysis- null. He went in the in the back of my husband's camper shell and in a cooler found a half empty can of Bud Light. He does not drink that-if anything,he would have whiskey and he'd probably have it in the cab of the truck. He says his workers sit on the tailgate and eat, drink after work sometimes and trash his truck.I've seen some junk of theirs before. I told him that needs to be stopped-ASAP. He knows who it belonged to. Anyhow, the cop sees his hunting rifles in the truck and takes them. Husband begins to protest, cop shoves him a bit, husband shoves back, and that's the disorderly conduct charge & the reason he was locked up.He admits he got really mad at how he was being treated..He said the entire police force of the town was there, making a big scene & that some man walking by with his dog even stopped to say how crazy things were with how they were treating my husband. He was taken later that night to county jail. He was put in lockdown-small cell,no windows, mat on concrete floor.Pretty much solitary confinement, but with about 4 guys.
They make you spend a night in there(Thurs. night) then go for bond on Friday morning. He did, happened to see a family friend in court who was a bail bondsman, and he was bonded out & should have been out Friday by noon.Bondsman said he'd see him in an hour or so & when he never got released,he didn't know WHAT to think. He was pretty much cut off from the outside world-no one would help him in there. I went this morning to meet with another bondsman who didn't show when THIS man approached me and asked if I needed help. After talking a bit,he said he had bonded my husband out Friday! I said "Well,he's still in there!" They lost his discharge papers & he spent 2 extra nights in there.
Same sister-in-law who was spitting mad at him, thinking he was drinking & in trouble,is now wanting to sic her lawyer on the county. She could buy the county if she wanted! Other sister in law is friends with the county sheriff-she's getting him involved. The mayor of the little corrupt town was my stepdad's best friend-I'm going to contact him. Still don't know where the guns or his truck are.(Sister in law just called us-she has already called the sheriff!) Got a family of mad Italian women here!! He should be compensated for the two days he was in there. They (little town) wants to charge him $711 in fines.Plus,he'll have to pay for his truck being towed & impounded. It is ridiculous.
Anyhow,I know he's not perfect,he is and will always be an alcoholic, but he really was tangled in a mess not of his making. We all know him & know he is telling the truth.I think it was good for him to have this experience.Might make him really think if he's ever tempted to hit the bottle again. One of y'all said maybe God had a reason for this or something to that effect.Maybe He did.I think so.
I appreciate your prayers. They obviously were heard, because things did not turn out the way they seemed to be,which was quite bad.
On a lighter note,we went over to the little town because he wanted to find his truck & guns. I told him I'd already been over yesterday & they are closed on the weekend. He went & knocked on the door, came back to the car & said: "This is worse than Mayberry! At least you know Barney would be there at the jail!"
Boy am I worn out from all of this. I thank y'all again so much.I felt the prayers, friends.
Love to all.

October 26, 2008 - Msg 67416: Well, Possum, when we were all praying for you and the situation, who would have dreamed it would turn out like this? I am so glad to hear it. Sounds like the Lord may be working several things out with this. Aside from your husband's brush with the police in that town, I would imagine there are others who have felt the injustice of their little gang, and maybe that will be remedied now. Anyway, I'm very glad for you that things turned out like they did. God is good, all the time (to quote REV.)

I finally had to bite the bullet and order a couple of combs for Starr on the internet. My grandsons misplaced (that's a grandma word) her comb, and I have been unable to find it after much searching. She's badly in need of grooming, and just any old comb won't work. Plastic "people" combs don't work at all, and the only combs I've found at the pet stores have stationary teeth. She needs the kind where the teeth rotate freely in their sockets, which greatly reduces the snagging and tearing of her hair. I finally found a couple online, very reasonable at around $4. I ordered two of them, in spite of the fact that the S&H is $20! Yep, twenty dollars. Highway robbery, but I was spending that much in gasoline, running around trying to find them somewhere. It's just crazy. I'm spending $27 for two dog combs. Ridiculous, but I can't let her get matted, she has to be combed, and nothing else works in her hair. So, I did it. Woe be unto those kids if I catch them with one of those combs!

So, Tom, what are you doing to get ready for the holidays? I need to think about that, too. There's some really serious cleaning that needs to be done around here - cleaning OUT, actually. Stuff, stuff. I'm drowning in unnecessary stuff. I need to clean out closets, drawers and cabinets, and have a big old garage sale. That's what I need to do - but the question is, will I do it? Probably not. I should though, because if I should leave this world suddenly, and leave this mess to my children to go through, they would rise up and call me something for sure, but I doubt it would be "blessed" (Prov 31:28).

Here come my little squirrel friends, nosing around the feeding stones. Guess I'd better go put out some feed. One is sitting on the tire swing, looking in at me as though to say, "Hey, lady, where are the groceries?" So cute!

Be blessed, all. --Romeena

October 26, 2008 - Msg 67417: Ron Howard has just produced an ad endorsing Barak Obama, with Andy Griffith.
Well, at least Ron Howard admits he's "desperate." He must be: the vast majority of respondents indicate that celebrity endorsements have no effect on their opinion, or how they vote.
As a lifelong fan of the Andy Griffith Show, I am disappointed in Griffth's endorsement of Obama, but not in the least surprized. Not many conservatives in Hollywood; even those who hail from North Carolina.
I can't help but wonder how Andy Taylor would have explained Bill Ayers, extreme liberalism, Marxism, media bias, Jeremiah Wright, Louis Farrakhan or ACORN to Opie. After all, the worst they citizens had to worry about was Ernest T's rock through a window. There was no domestic terrorist character planting bombs at the Mayberry courthouse, or the Taylor home. "Free speech" didn't yet extend to terrorism back then. Nor was the local minister a hate-filled black liberation theologist. And, I wonder how the citizens would respond to a politician's anti-gun voting record? Ah, those were simpler times!
Griffith made his fame and fortune with the Andy Griffith Show, portraying a down-home, Southern conservative, good ol' boy sheriff. For forty years, liberals have scoffed at the "hokey, cornball" residents of Mayberry, while working-class folks have seen Mayberry and its' citizens as quintessentially American conservative: clinging to their guns and their religion. Now, I suppose, the left has fallen in love with Andy Griffith.
Unfortunately, Mayberry will never be the same for millions of Andy's viewers - the bulk of his fan base. I for one have lost all respect for Andy Griffith, and not only will never see the Andy Griffith Show the same way, but will avoid watching it ever again.
Hard to watch Andy and Opie and remember simpler times faced with the reality of the actors growing up - and quite old - to support someone who in no way stands for what America means to millions of Americans, the media messiah Barak Obama.
The desperate Mr Howard and the geriatric, senile Mr Griffith have only made me more steadfast in my opposition to Obama.
So, in this case, celebrity endorsements HAVE had an effect on a me, and I dare say a large number of voters; just not the one they hoped for.
I shall not be amongst the Global Village Idiots for Obama on November 4th.
Griffith has utterly destroyed my fond memories of Mayberry with an endorsement for the most dangerous, unqualified politician ever to run for president.
