M-T- I just lost a nice, long post to you! dang
I hate when that happens. Anyways, has some good info.

Number one is DIET!! Get rid of the polyunsaturated fats as much as possible, tho i
currently dont know your diet situation. But if you are living off the darlings old bacon drippings, nothing will help! ha
Try fish oil capsules for a few months then re-test. About three a day. Also garlic tabs can help.
Hope that helps. I indeed suggest the natural before the RX.
MDC Good s-w-e-e-p !

March 05, 2009 - Msg 70764: My doctor tried putting me on statins, against my better judgment, and they did lower my cholesterol, but I felt so bad that it just wasn't worth it. I stopped them, and told him to forget it. He really didn't argue much - I don't think he's too sold on them himself - and he suggested I buy Cholest-Off, over the counter. You can get it at the grocery store, and it works. The control isn't as dramatic as the statins, but combined with fish oil, garlic and cinnamon, the levels are acceptable. The hard part with Cholest-Off is remembering to take it. You don't just take it in the morning and forget it, you have to remember to take it a half hour before a meal. I forget - a lot - and it probably would work much better if I didn't forget. Still, I'm doing okay, according to my doc. Here's a link to a Q&A about it:

Well, I'm thinking I might be able to sneak a nap in before going to work. Think I'll go try. Eddie has been here and mowed and been paid, so there's nothing else to disturb me. I'm going to need that nap, because tomorrow is going to be another of those can't-go-to-bed-after-work days. Joe will be here to plant, prune and continue getting the yard ready for the wedding, and I have bunco tomorrow night, a potluck for which I'll have to cook something. Argh.

Be blessed, friends. --Romeena

March 05, 2009 - Msg 70765: Thank you for those links, PH...I dread the news and have stopped watching it, altogether.

So sorry about Mrs. Asa's recent trials, bless her heart. Prayers for you both.

What no mention of Oregano, MDC?

Romeena, has it been 4 years since you got your carpet?! Time surely does fly. I take my shoes off the minute I come in the door and they stay by the front door....I have this little problem with thinking about how the bottom of our shoes sometimes walk on public restroom floors and I don't want to carry that into the house...yikes! I guess we all have our hang-ups...maybe.

Still waiting for the new computer..maybe it will get here tomorrow. I hate using Bruce's keyboard because I mess up alot with it.

Did anyone notice that PH called Miss Sherry SPOT's wife...I like the sound of that (sorry, you know i can't control myself).

March 05, 2009 - Msg 70767: SPOT and Sherry sittin' in a tree,

Then comes SPOT with a baby carriage (again)! ;)

March 06, 2009 - Msg 70768: Oh my yall...Boo im gona get you and someone!....back at 2 to go right nervous...marrage...SPOT

March 06, 2009 - Msg 70769: Mornin' Dears! Looks like I scared poor SPOT...come to think of it, I guess Miss Sherry wouldn't want to become a mother again at age 50...I know I sure wouldn't. I really feel for all of those poor grandparents out there who are raising their grandchildren due to their children's inability to do so. It must be so hard to start over.

It's warm and very humid here in S. Texas this morning. I would rather it be cold, but at least I don't have any snow to shovel this morning. I am dressed for the day in (no kidding), shorts, a t-shirt and flip-flops. This is typical wardrobe for us in this part of the state. Lots of beach bums around here. We even wear that kind of stuff to church here on the coast. I don't wear shorts on Sunday morning, but I do usually wear jeans and a nice shirt. Wed. night, anything decent is worn, including shorts just above the knee and flip-flops. I am always clean, and sweet-smelling with make-up and hair done, though.

Me-They, I forgot to mention that I will be happy to do the shorts...PLEASE don't consider switching to thongs. I know people often make wise CRACKS about thongs and many are DIVIDED on the subjest, BUT to each his own, I guess.

Better get Erin out of bed...which reminds me, do any of you have children who walk in their sleep? Recently Erin has occasionally woke up in the night and is crying. When I ask her what's wrong she just keeps saying, "I don't know", or "Nothing" but she is crying like something is really hurting her. Last night she came into my room crying and I asked what was wrong, she said "nothing" so i told her everything was ok and to go back to bed. She immediately returned to her bed and went right to sleep. She has no recollection of any of it when she wakes up so I guess it is happening in her sleep. Any of you have any similar experiences with your children?

Morning Porch

Boo-I hope you enjoy those sites. For myself, I just want to know the facts regarding the news, I'll add the adjectives on my own. For example, who would have guessed, by watching the evening news, that homes sales in California were up 100% when comparing January 2008 to January 2009. Now, I'm really not trying to whistle by the graveyard but, like Joe Friday, I just want to know the facts. I'm under the belief that, every once in awhile, good things may be happening out there. Other than George Clooney saving Africa that is.

Morning Spot.

M-T I know you was funnin' me buddy You've always seemed to enjoy poking with a stick.

March 06, 2009 - Msg 70771:
Oh, hey Boo! Morning!

March 06, 2009 - Msg 70772: Morning y'all.

Good grief Boo, you must have been up all night working on thembuns... I mean puns.:)

Spot's getting hitched? Our Spot? Wow, congrats old boy. When's the big day? And why are you panting and so nervous?

Auh2o, There does seem to be an attempt by the administration to talk things down. I know times are tough. We all know that. But I am looking for something in this administration to give me some hope. I'm not seeing it. The market has lost 3,000 points since BO came into office, and he seems oblivious to it. The biggest worry seems to be didding a talk show host. I know he has been in office a short time, but it seems everything he's proposed is not sitting well on Wall street and in the process many, if not most Americans are losing their lives savings. Retirement accounts, college savings, whatever are dwindling away and all he seems to be concerned with is enlarging govt, and Rush Limbaugh.
Well enough of that. It's Friday on the porch. Maybe I'll go get some goodies from the bakery and we can enjoy.

March 06, 2009 - Msg 70773: Didding? That should read dissing.

March 06, 2009 - Msg 70774: Good Morning my family, I hope everyone is having a good Friday so far. It is going to be beautiful here today we might hit 70. Thats a far cry from the 12 degree weather we had Tuesday morning.
Prayers for you Lucy, keep up updated as you can. And prayers for the ones I've missed too.

I guess this economy has really hit everybody hard. People around here are loosing jobs right and left. Places are shutting down. My hubby works in construction and his boss told him they have about two more weeks of work left to do, and then not sure after that. They do have several jobs lined up, it's just the people wont commit to having the work done. God was definitely looking out for us as far as my hubby's retirement goes, right before the big crash last year, for whatever reason, his boss had the foresight to change banks so thank God his retirement wasn't affected. It's just a scary time right now. We dont have any major payments to speak of so we should make it through whatever happens. We've been blessed though, we've heard of so many who have lost their homes and vehicles just because theres no work available right now.

REV--just wanted to tell you congrats on the guitar, my hubby has had a Taylor for about 15 years now, and it's his baby he loves that guitar. They just have a sound to them that you dont find anywhere else.

Well I guess I've rambled enough best get at it and head to work. Asa those bakery goodies sound good. Hope ya'll have a great Friday prayers for everyone and their situations love ya'll--Salty Dog

Believe me I can't sing, so people will leave!ha, just kidding with you spot.Boo, I have an older son who was a sleepwalker, he kind of grew out of it, well, let's put it this way, the last time I remember him doing it he was about 14,he's 22 now.Boo, I will email you again soon, I've been so busy I haven't had time to type anything.Well, I have alot to get done today and not much time to do it in, so, guess I'll run,see you later friends-ky girl

March 06, 2009 - Msg 70778: Don't worry about it, KYGirl...right now I don't have email anyway...not until the new computer is up and running.

Bruce has lost LOTS from his retirement account and I have a friend that works for an oil company that has lost 50,000 since January. He was really counting on retiring early, but it doesn't look like he will get to unless he gets laid off. We are seeing plenty of lay-offs and businesses going under here, too. Pretty sad. I am thankful that Bruce seems to have a secure job working for the government, but you never know. Since I am a nurse, I guess I could always go back to work if I had to. These are trying times, though, that will require faith in God and we may end up like the early church, sharing with one another before it is all over.

Better go get the laundry finished...

March 06, 2009 - Msg 70779: Hey all,

Just read a bit of the archives and Mavis, I also wish Hallmark wouldn't have taken The Waltons off. Looks like I am going to have to do what Tom did and buy the dvds.
I was thinking about doing that anyway, as I can't really watch too much of it anymore anyway, except on my day off on Fridays. But I used to grab a little of an episode before I drove off to work.
I suppose it could be worse, they could have replaced it with some stupid "reality" show like Tvland is so in favor of nowadays.
I see they(Tvland) have another winner coming on about some older woman dating younger guys. Yippee.
You'd think if they are so set on putting those types of shows on that they would think some up that go more along with the type of people who (used) to watch Tvland. Like, maybe have some people who have to try to live together in a small town set in the 50's or so. And they have to elect someone to be sheriff, and someone to be deputy, and they would have a barber, a grease monkey who has to run a gas station. Well, you know where I am going with this. ;)
I might watch something like that. As long as it was kept clean.
...The language and situations. I'm not talking about cleaning the cobwebs from under the bandstand. But they could do that too.

Well, I'm off to pay some bills. Oh happy day. :)

March 07, 2009 - Msg 70792: Good morning, all. And good morning to you, ol' Spotty dog. You're such a good-natured old doggie. No wonder everyone loves you.

I sure do feel better today than I did yesterday. I worked Thursday night, a very long, hard shift. There were two patients who nearly killed us with their demands. I had one of them, the other nurse had the other, but they kept us both running. One has a post-surgical abscess (because of her poor personal hygiene, yuck) and she can think of more things to want than anyone I ever saw. I kept a little mental count for a while, and in a thirty minute period of time, she called with some "want" or other eleven - count 'em - eleven times. The room was too hot, the room was too cold. Turn on this light, turn off that one. Close the blind. Can I have some milk? Can I have some crackers? (This when I returned from the pantry with the milk.) I dropped my pencil, can you find it? What time is breakfast? (This was asked at 10 p.m.) Just such as that. I wanted to smother her with a pillow.

The other one is a 26 year old who had a c-section two days ago. You would have thought she was dying. Try to get her up to the bathroom, she goes stiff as a board, screams "I can't do it" and falls back on the bed. Also refused a bedpan. Hmmm. This presents a problem. Her mother was a lot of help, standing there saying "do something, she needs to go", and threatening to call the doctor. I finally told her that the doctor would not be happy if we called him with the current problem, but if she wanted to do so, I'd be happy to give her the number of his answering service. That shut her up on that point. When the doc came in at 7 a.m., we asked him his opinion of the girl, and he made a little circle with his fingers above his head, and said simply, "D.Q." Drama Queen. Boy, is he ever right. She'll be gone home by the time I work again, thank goodness, but Dirty Girl may very well still be there.

Then Joe and Jorge were here all day yesterday, so I never got to go to bed. Played bunco last night, and I was a zombie when I finally got in bed about 10:30. I slept until 9:30 this morning! I think I'm getting too old for this.

Be blessed, all. --Romeena

March 07, 2009 - Msg 70794: Hi All.
Boy two nice day and more on it way for up comming week.

March 07, 2009 - Msg 70795: Good afternoon Porch, tried to get here for coffee this morning, but for some reason the porch gate was closed & I couldn't get to my rocker. I spent all day out at the new house yesterday, it was lovely, a beautiful day outside & don't think I didn't take advantage of that! :) We had the floor man there laying more tile & also had the ADT installers there putting in the security system. Hubby has had ADT here in this house for 9 years & when we called about getting a system in the new house they told us since we had been customers for so long, we qualified for a free alarm system! We had that installed & also a system they call "SafeWatch VideoView" it's WAY too cool! We have infrared cameras set up outside & inside the house hooked into a DVR system that records everything. We can also log onto their website & see all the cameras from anywhere in the world over the computer. It's pretty cool & it gives us a sense of safety since we can see what is going on when we are at work or out of town. Now let Miss Crazy woman show up & think no one will know! She told hubby when he informed her that we now have a chain up across the driveway, "that's fine, I park at the split & walk through the woods anyway" well, she'll not do that now without being seen on camera! So far this morning, I've watched a crow pick the pieces out of my indian corn I forgot to take down, so guess you could say I've already caught a thief! HA
Well, I'm off to work on my stained glass. Catch ya'll later. Spot who's Mark Martian is he related to Bill Bixby?? (I just kill me! LOL)
Who's Malloy??

March 07, 2009 - Msg 70796: Boy Mavis, you went and got bigger wires and have gone all hight tech on us. Probabaly a good thing though, with what you are dealing with. Sure hope she will leave you guys alone.

Oh sure Possum. Everytime there's a High School reunion on we don't see hide nor hair of you till it's over. Don't go blaming the computer. Admit it. You're addictited to it. Get help now. :)

Homemaker, so good to see your post. I can't believe you guys are not in that house yet. Man, I bet you'll be happy to finally get in.

Glad it's warming up for you Tom. Spring is on the doorstep. And as Rev reminded us, move them clocks forward 2 hours and then back 1 tonight.

Spot, glad you can take our teasing. It's all in love.

Where's Aunt Boo? She ain't been on yet today?

Well better go see what I can rustle up for lunch. I'm in the mood for something, just gotta figure out what.

I couldn't get on the porch this morning, either. I figured maybe Floyd was doing some porch maintenance or something.

Romeena, your post got me right here (pointing to my stomach). It brought back so many unpleasant memories of difficult patients and their mothers! In my unit, sometimes I just had to tell them straight, "Well, the baby in room nine won't wait until I bring you more ice chips, so....see ya". Of course my attitude might explain why I never got a thank you note from anyone...

Better go...need to clean the kitchen. We had breakfast for supper tonight and it was pretty good. I made really crisp bacon and the kind that bends at the waist, so I thought of Romeena while I was cooking it. I also made biscuits and cream gravy. Try as I may, I cannot make it like my mother used to, but it was good enough, I guess....maybe...well, not really.

March 07, 2009 - Msg 70800: Almost forgot..wanted to share something neat with you. My brother-in-law is from Michigan but has been here in s Texas for over 30 years now. He has a good friend in Michigan named Larry that he grew up with. Larry has always been an unbeliever, kind of considered himself an agnostic, I think. He came to Texas for a visit 30 years ago and my sister, bro-in-law and I were new Christians. We were concerned for Larry and my BIL has stayed in touch and talked to him about the Lord for all these years. Larry married a wonderful woman who became a Christian and about 6 months ago she was diagnosed with liver cancer. It really tore Larry up because she was his whole life. Sadly, she passed away a month ago and we were so concerned about Larry. It turns out that during the time of his wife's illness, Larry became a Christian and he is a changed man! At the funeral he talked about how Jesus is everything to him. It is so inspiring to see God change someone that you have been hoping and praying for for so many years. Unfortunately, it took such a painful experience cause him to see his need for Christ. My BIL spoke to him yesterday and he is doing amazing. He told my BIL, "I don't understand why God took her but I know she was ready to go and I will see her again."....Larry is realizing the only true hope in this life....Christ is the answer, the redeemer, and our eternal hope. Praise Him!

Interestingly, I have told you all the story of how our preacher in the methodist church that I grew up in was an alcoholic and sometimes came to church intoxicated (to put it nicely)...I told you a story of how my brother-in-law had a friend visiting one christmas and we all went to candlelight services at the methodist church. The minister was late and came staggering in drunk. Larry was the friend that was with us that night back in 1977 and boy did we laugh about the drunken preacher! Funny how things turn out...

March 07, 2009 - Msg 70801: Father Mulcahy: "Friends, let me tell you something, however compulsory it may be. There's no film. I'm live. Now back to where we were when you last heard from me. It was with Leviticus on the 10th I believe. Drink thee not nor thee thou sons, lest ye die. Nor congregate at the corner tabernacle. I'd like to take a short sabbatical. Or a cup of coffee. Or I wonder is there a doctor in the tent?"

Sorry Boo. Your story about the intoxicated minister made me think of the M*A*S*H episode where a nervous Fr. Mulcahy drinks some wine before a service to calm his nerves, and his sermon comes out something like that. :)

Nice story about Larry though.

March 08, 2009 - Msg 70802: Good evening, porch. Just headed for bed, but wanted to stop by and say good night to all.

I got a haircut today, (No, I didn't go to Floyd, he cuts it too short.) Anyway, I took Toye Starr with me, as usual. She loves to go. When Cheryl puts the cape over me, she covers Starr up too. I pull the bottom of the cape up and let Starr stick her head out, while I hold the cape closed around her neck. So there's her little fluffy white head, topknot, bow and all, and nothing else visible. Looks pretty funny, and she attracts a lot of attention. Everyone who comes in has to stop and pet her, and she just loves it. She is the sweetest little thing.

Well, off I go. Gonna lose an hour tonight, so I'm trying to hit the bed a little earlier than usual. I really don't like to get sleepy in church. Our pastor is a wonderful preacher, and I like to be alert for every word. Be blessed, all. --Romeena

March 08, 2009 - Msg 70806: Hey Possum, it has been a busy day for me, for sure...I wonder if folks might be taking a nap on this fine Sunday?

Had preachin' this morning and then had a birthday lunch for a nephew who turned 10. His mom made really good spaghetti (must have used the secret ingredient). It was great to eat somebody else's cooking.

I went to the dollar store this afternoon and when I got out, the suburban wouldn't start! That fuel pump that has been singin' so loud finally gave out...and just a week before we were going to use it for a trade-in. Now we have to have it towed to our mechanic and have it fixed for 400 dollars. We have a good friend who is a car dealer and he has been looking at auction for a used suburban that has all the features we are looking for, and he found one last week. It is a GMC Yukon and is really nice, like new but a small dent in one side from a collision with a deer. Apparently the former owner decided to get a new car instead of fixing it and just traded it in. Whoever owned it took good care of it because it's a beauty. Nice leather seats with the four chairs instead of a bench seat in the back. Our friend is putting it in the body shop tomorrow to have the dent fixed and then we were going to close the deal and trade in our suburban...oh well. It will work out for the best. I would have hated to give it to our friend as a trade-in only to have the fuel pump give out right away...just doesn't seem right. Anyway, I am very happy at the prospect of finally getting another car that will be reliable. I was going to get a van to get better mileage but Bruce wouldn't hear of it. He said he feels better knowing his family is in something that size on the road. I didn't want to argue with him about it. It is nice, though and it really is exactly what we were looking for (DVD player for watching TAGS on trips, even), except we didn't want a gray car. Our friend told us this one was gray but when we saw it, it was almost black. You have to look twice at it or you think it's black but it's actually a very dark metallic charcoal color with lots of chrome on the sides, so it's ok. Hope I don't have to wait long because spring break is coming up next week and I would like to take the kids somewhere.

Anyhoo....sounds like you had a nice day, TOM...hope you enjoyed yourself with all those kiddos running around.

Sterling, I remember that MASH episode well...loved that one.

Well, time to hit the's been a long day.

Wanted to tell you something funny that someone said in church today. This guy named Aaron, who is from Georgia, was telling us about his grandfather who passed away last week. He went up to the pulpit to share a scripture verse and he said something about the difference between Baptists and Catholics (This is for you MDC). He said that his grandpa told him that the difference was that Catholics get out of church at 12:30, and Baptists get out at 12, so they can beat the Catholics to KFC before all the chicken is gone! hehe....what was funny is that church was over and we went out to our cars, there were all these flyers on every car advertising a community fundraiser that was selling chicken. On the advertisement was a logo that said, "I love my chicken!"...thought that was pretty good timing.

See you all in the morning.

PS-Just one more thing. SPOT, we finished the houseplans completely today and all the decisions have been made about the exterior design and the architect should have it all completed very soon...should be able to start soon.

Hello porch family.....Just got in from my concert so this is going to be a quick howdy.

Spot...I didn't get to see any of the race but just saw the highlights a few minutes ago.

Prayers for all you folks and have a great night. Remember that Jesus loves you...sleep good.

March 09, 2009 - Msg 70809: Hey guys, boy what a beautiful day today. It felt more like summer. I just wish it would stay that way. Did ya'll hear about that preacher in Ill that was killed this morning? So sad to read about that. It's just unreal that you cant go anywhere anymore and be safe.

Well I wasn't too happy with the race, never have been a Busch fan either one of them, but thats the way it's going here lately.

REV-- My hubby's Taylor is a 510, although I have no clue what that means, but hopefully you do lol. Pretty much all I could tell ya is that it has strings ha!

I hope you all have a good Monday take care love ya'll--Salty Dog

March 09, 2009 - Msg 70810: Hi Salty, it is really sad about the Baptist preacher you mentioned. I wonder if the guy was just mentally derranged (the shooter) or why he should do such a thing. Speaking of shooting, did you happen to see the story of the 11 yr old boy in Pen. who shot and killed his dad's pregnant girlfriend? Turns out the kid had his own "child-sized", what's wrong with this picture?!! Sounds like maybe his dad needs to go to jail, too. I just can't understand parents making firearms available to children.

Did anyone happen to see any of the show that were on TLC last night about what they call "super morbidly obese" people in this country? I'm not trying to come down on fat people (of which I am one) but they were talking about the epidemic of morbidly obese people in this country and it was very scary. They showed the story of a 900 lb woman who a doctor in Houston agreed to do gastric bypass on. It was the saddest thing and the woman ended up dying after surgery. They say that 65% of the population of Texas is obese and there are about 2 million people in this country (they estimate, of course) that are over 500 lbs. It's about to become a huge (no pun intended) medical crises in this country. I worry about Sean because he is nearly 200 lbs at age 13 and it seems that nothing I do helps. We are going to the gym but I guess we need to be going at least 4 or 5 times a week. I have cut out the fast food and am trying to be better about cooking everyday. To tell you the truth, I am tired, fat, stressed and nearing menopause! I need help!...did I hear MDC say "Oregano"? HA On the show last night they said that statistically, only 5% of obese people who lose weight keep it off and those who lost, usually gain back more than they lost, causing a change in metabolism, that leads to more weight gain. It's like a vicious cycle.

Better go get Erin out of bed. Hasn't this been a cheerful post this morning? :)

Hey Folks

We nearly lost all of our snow base here at the house this weekend. Almost most down to terra firma!

Boo- My BIL is Catholic and after he attended church service at a Baptist Church he said the first big difference was that Baptist hang there coats up and we (Catholics)hang onto ours. I thought that was cute.

Tom-That's sounds like a fine day you had with the family. Those are always good to hear about.

Spot-How did Miss Sherry's B-Day turn-out?

I hope my posting of those web sites hasn't led to any harsh feelings. It truly wasn't my intent. But, things did seem to slow considerably after that post. Either way, I'll refrain from posting similar things in the future.

God Bless,

Man,that was weird-When I went to type "Ha!" somehow I hit the wrong keys & it came up "hal".My friend Hal died a year ago on this very day.Had him on my mind, but wow, is that strange I hit those keys like that.
So sad about the pastor being gunned down. Anything can happen anywhere these days.
Well, let me go crank up the possum mobile.Anybody wanna go to Waffle House just holler & I'll swing by & get ya!

March 09, 2009 - Msg 70814: Hi All .
Had a good weekend wat my siss and gandkids.
Stepdad gong fish Sunday .
Two more day of nice weather and the cold come back.

March 09, 2009 - Msg 70815: Hi friends! We are having some great weather here too, and, finally, my oldest son who lives in Tennessee got to come home for the weekend! Praise the Lord. I got some grandma time in with my grandson, he is such a little man, and, getting so big!Needless to say, had a wonderful weekend, Saturday we had a cookout, all the kids and grandkids were there, plus great grandparents. It was truly an answer to prayer.Spot, sorry I haven't had time to mail, been so busy. Boo, that story about the boy in PA., that shot his dad's girlfriend, I know what you are saying, That's the first thing I thought of when I heard that he was in jail, and, may be tried as an adult. Why did the child have a firemarm that he could access and be able to get the ammunition also? Even on the news here, the reporters were saying "Oh it was his gun" like that explains it. And, unfortunately , around here there are some people that have that mindset.Which makes absolutely no sense. I don't care if it was his gun, the parent should not give him access to it anytime he wants, and, be able to get to the bullets . They should both be locked up and only used with supervision.I definitley think the father should have severe consequences, and, the child should have consequences but, within reason, he is a child. Yes, I also have seen reports about obesity in America. I think several factors are responsible. One is fast food, the other is that if you have a child that has asthma, or something that keeps them from going out in the cold or hot very much, then there isn't always a gym or somewhere to go and just play. I know my youngest daughter doesn't like to stay indoors and workout in the winter, but, with her asthma, if we stay out sledriding or skiing too long, she is really short of breath. O.k., gotta get some studying done on med terms. We are studying the heart right now, really very interesting. Prayers for all-ky girl

March 09, 2009 - Msg 70816: "Hey' to Auh2o, TOM and Possum!

Auh2o, those programs on super obese people make be uneasy too, but I know why!!...I worked out extra hard at the gym this morning after watching the show last night...maybe I need to watch it once a week... ;)

Good to see you KYGirl and glad you had a nice time with the family. You deserve it. I think you are right about the firearm problem. It seems that making the parents more responsible might help. I mean at age 11, if a gun had not been available in the home, it would be very unlikely that he could have gotten ahold of one elsewhere and that poor woman and her unborn child would still be alive. An 11 year old is going to be impulsive and might do something he can't possibly fathom the consequences of in a fit of rage or jealousy. It's just terrible and it wasn't long ago that a boy that age killed his dad and a roommate with a gun. Unfortunately, we might be hearing more of that kind of thing in the future.

Better go...I have to take Dad to the doctor.

March 09, 2009 - Msg 70817:

Rev- I had to laugh when you said, all the courts were full. Remember when we were doing the homonyms a while back? Well, one could think,
"Why would having all the judiciary dockets
full with cases, effect one's tennis play!" ha
OK, that was quite a stretch for a laugh!

Auh2o, your links have caused no issues for me friend. Good to see you.

MDC, You remember a couple of years ago after the Cards lost a game to (I think it was) the Bears. And Dennis Green, then the Cards head coach had an absoulute meltdown at the post game press conference? He was screaming and ranting about "they were who we thought they were"! Ha! That pretty much sounds like me today concerning our current administration. No surprises. They are exactly who I thought they were. How depressing.

Sounds like you had a great weekend KY Girl. Ain't it great being a Grandparent?

Well better go move some snow.

Later gang.

Asa, I sure do and it was indeed the bears. "We played like we thought they were...$#@&*..!"
In fact, the week before the superbowl, our local
NBC affiliate did a video promo showing all our coaches over the years and their "infamous lines."
It was well done, and amazing to see that we had like nine or ten coaches in the 20 years here.
As for BO, yes indeed, he doing exactly like he
said he would do, and like Pat B said on the McGaughlin group, with his budget, he's trying to do it ALL at once, and it just wont fly.
Today he signed for MORE taxpayer dollars to destroy human life. Very discouraging!
I think I need to go watch a Preston Foster

March 09, 2009 - Msg 70822: At lunch with a friend yesterday, she related a story that happened to her. She was talking with another friend of hers, an avid Obama supporter, and mentioned that she was sorry he had signed the bill for US tax dollars to fund abortions around the world. Her friend sputtered that "He wouldn't do something like that! You must have gotten that off that Christian news thing that's always bashing him." (She meant One News Now.) My friend agreed that she had read it there, and dropped the subject. The next day it appeared in the "Dallas Morning News", so of course my friend couldn't resist calling her and giving her the page number for the article! Wonder what that woman is going to do now, with this latest death sentence? Poor lady. I think the rude awakenings are already starting. Pray, friends. We really MUST pray for him, for wisdom, for compassion, and for him to be willing to let God lead him. Without that, we're in deeeep trouble!

Well, I've got a few things to get planted, then try to grab a short nap before going in to work tonight. Eloise is having a knee replacement tomorrow, so I won't be coming home to go to bed, I'll be staying up there with her, at least until she's in her room and settled. She has really needed this for a long time. I'm glad she's finally getting it done. It had gotten so bad that she would allow me to let her off at the door when we went somewhere, and go park the car and walk back by myself. That's saying a lot - she's a very independent person.

Well, be blessed, all. --Romeena

March 09, 2009 - Msg 70824: MDC, Erin was complaining with her ear again today and sort of tugging at it and saying she can't hear well, so I got some Oil of Oregano from the health food store. The label says it can be used topically and added to fruit juice or something. I don't remember if you said I should put it in her ear or make her drink it??? Hope you're out there.

March 09, 2009 - Msg 70825:
Romeena-Your post is right on the mark. I must say, I pray for BO (our fearless leader not the body odor)every morning.

Boo -Hope Erin's feeling better soon.

Asa-Thanks. You folks and your snow. hehe

March 09, 2009 - Msg 70826: Prayers for Eloise as she goes through knee replacement...bless her heart, that is such a tough thing to go through. I pray all goes as smoothly as possible. She is blessed to have a terrific friend like you watching over her, Ro.

Who is Preston Foster??

Better go... have the rehab tonight.

March 09, 2009 - Msg 70827: I have a question for MDC too,Boo.I've been having trouble sleeping-well,staying asleep.Just wake up all kinds of crazy times during the night. I bought some melatonin, but wanted MDC's opinion on it before I use it.Seems like I recall you (Boo) saying you have tried it,so perhaps you can tell me how it worked for you.I just don't want to be too groggy the next morning,or sleep forever! If it'll help me get a good 8 hours of rest,I'll take it. Maybe MDC will pop back onto the Porch.Sorry to hear that Erin is having ear problems again.I don't know how the Oil of Oregano is used.Wish I could help. Hope she feels better. We need to nickname MDC "Dr.Bombay"! Remember him on "Bewitched?" Same actor that played Malcom Merriweather. He was Samantha's doctor.
"Calling Doctor Bombay,Calling Doctor Bombay..Hurry,come right away!" (Or something like that! Anyway,we're calling ya,MDC!

Spot,I'll bring "My Cousin Vinny",but not sure what movie Asa's bringing.I'll bet it doesn't have any snow scenes in it though! Maybe he'll head over to the video store as soon as he's finished shoveling all that snow & pick a good one out! See ya later!

El "doc-tor" is (IN)
Boo- Put a drop into several drops of olive oil, mix it up,then put a little bit on a swab, and just swab it
gently in the complaining ear, take a dry swab and get out any excess. Remember oregano is a hot spice, so diluting a bit is important.
Put about 5 drops in a "juice glass" sized glass OF juice, swizzle well, and have her drink it down. It is an "acquired" taste, however. She may say that her mouth feels hot like after eating mexican food with hot sauce. Since it is a
liquid form of the spice oregano.
The juice acts as a "buffer" or "suspension."
POSSum- Try 1/2 tablet at first.
One thing I like about melotonin is that is is
natural, not a drug, so you should not be groggy in the AM. I never have been.
Hope that helps you both.

March 09, 2009 - Msg 70830: Thanks,Doc,I mean,MDC! Will do. And I sure hope lil' Erin gets some relief. I'd rather have trouble sleeping than an earache any day.
Thanks again MDC.
