July 21, 2009 - Msg 74057:
Hi gang. Just got back to work this AM, and
have been swamped! No chance to read archives,
but I see that M-T had the baby!! Congrats!
Who won the pool?
I'll be back later to tell you of my harrowing
return flight (thru a storm) from Santa Barbara. I thought we were going to buy the farm!
See you again soon.

July 21, 2009 - Msg 74058:
Wow, the storm even made it to the porch and
swept it clear. Soory, I didnt mean to blow
all the chairs off the porch too!

July 21, 2009 - Msg 74059: Welcome home safe and sound, MDC. Glad you didn't buy the farm yet.

July 21, 2009 - Msg 74060: We missed you,MDC- Welcome home to the Porch!
Oh,Hazel came closest with her guess, but she declined the "prize" of baring her tootsies to Me-They. Mavis was first runner up,so she's planning on wearing her Birkenstocks next time she's near Me-They's rocker!
P.S. Glad you made it thru the storm,MDC!

July 21, 2009 - Msg 74061: Lots of folks missing today...some on back.

July 21, 2009 - Msg 74062: Glad to see you back MDC!! Just wasn't a lot of friendly, goodhearted bantering whilst you were away. Come on, let's get this party started!!!
Where's that Asa? I got something to tell him... ~New Neighbor

July 21, 2009 - Msg 74063:
MDC-Welcome back buddy! Did you happen to see the clip of "The View" this morning? Those deep minds on the show were discussing if the moon landings actually occurred. I kid you not. Why do celebrities think they can speak without a script?

July 21, 2009 - Msg 74064: HAHA...love it, Auh2o. :-):-)

Thelma Lou: "Andy's gonna talk to the hawk!"
Barney: "That's his problem."

July 21, 2009 - Msg 74065: Oh, almost forgot...they are pouring the concrete for the foundation on Thursday. Yippee! (I'm taking pictures) OK, now I need your opinions about paint colors for the exterior...think farmhouse, big front porch, upstairs dormers....I have always wanted to paint the house white but Bruce is thinking that he wants to paint it with some other color. The only other color I have seen that I liked was a pale yellow with white trim but he doesn't like it. I am thinking white house with green shutters. Any thoughts?? All opinions appreciated.

July 21, 2009 - Msg 74066: Oh, also consider that the barn will be traditional barn red with white trim and will be easily seen from the road...so, the house color needs to look good with the barn.

July 21, 2009 - Msg 74067: Well, that last statement sounded stupid, but hopefully you know what I mean.

July 21, 2009 - Msg 74068: Good Heavens, auh2o. I think they occurred. I watched 'em myself. But... maybe we're all in the Twilight Zone?
Welcome back, MDC. We missed you.
And about refusing the prize for guessing the closest weight to the Me-They child. I wasn't trying to be rude, or un-grateful, or anything like that. My reasons are personal, but I'll sum it up in one sentence. "Lotta bad feet in this country..."
Where the heck is Asa? Dude, the alarm's going off at the bank! And Weavers is being robbed blind, right in the middle of the day. We need your help.
- Hazel

July 21, 2009 - Msg 74069: You snuck in on me, Boo. I'll take the matter under advisement and get back to you. (Regarding the house colors)
- Haze

July 21, 2009 - Msg 74070: Oh, and Boo and Ro, I keep forgetting to give an update on my husbands friends son. We've only heard from her twice since the first couple days, and he is now in a hospital in San Antonio, and she is now with him. He is back in the Critical care unit (he was in a regular room for one day). I guess it did turn out to be clots on the liver, and at one point his heart stopped, and they thought a blod clot went to his heart. The last time my husband heard from his friend was yesterday around noon. So, I don't really know what's going on.
-Haze again

July 22, 2009 - Msg 74071: Yes, where IS Asa?

"Hey" to Hazel. Thank you for the update concerning your friend's son. Hope he is on his way to a full recovery. I'll be waiting anxiously for your opinion concerning the paint colors ;-)

July 22, 2009 - Msg 74072: Oh, and by the way, in case someone suggests it, I don't care for the green color of Andy's house in the color eps...Doesn't seem like everything is painted green in Mayberry sometimes? Didn't they even paint the inside of the courthouse that color?

July 22, 2009 - Msg 74073: Oh, and one MORE thing...(sorry). Websites like Sherwin-Williams and Valspar have "color visualizers" in which you can test out paint colors a house. You just pick from the one that most closely resembles your house and you can paint it and the trim any color imaginable...if anyone wants to try. You can also paint different interiors. It's fun.

July 22, 2009 - Msg 74074: Good morning everyone.

PURPLE HAZE: Prayers for your family friend.

BOO: You can't go wrong with white, in my opinion. How about dark green trim? On the porch, I'd do the railings white and the floor in the trim color.

MDC: Welcome back!

Now, I ahve just one question...We were on the moon?!?!>

July 22, 2009 - Msg 74075: And to correct you, HAZEL, all feet are bad.

July 22, 2009 - Msg 74076:
Morning porch family.

Good to have you back MDC.

Boo....I'll have to check out the online paint chart. I'm needing to do some painting when I get off the road.

Well gang.....after today I will be in an area that I won't have internet so I'll be away for awhile. I get back home the first Wed in August. Of course I will have you all in my hearts and prayers. Be assured of that!
Sending my love to you all and remember....Jesus loves you, HE really really does.

July 22, 2009 - Msg 74077: Purple Haze? Who let Hendrix in here?? auh2o they ran a special on the History Channel over the weekend about the Moon Landing being a hoax, I watched it and the guy did have what seemed like "valid" points, even went as far to say NASA "took care of" at leat 10 astronauts that knew it was a hoax and threatened to let the cat out of the bag! Now, I may have only been 7 years old, but I remember well gathering around a tv in a classroom watching the program on tv. I know we landed on the moon. History Channel also showed the original special that was aired back in 1969 on Monday. Anywho, some folks just ain't happy unless they are stirring the "poop bucket" at top speed. Boo I checked out those virtual paint visualizers and they are pretty cool. Home Depot also has one right there in the paint department. That Tweety Bird yellow on our house has GOT to go and we are looking at browns/maroons with black shutters, something that looks "woodsy" still haven't settled on a color. Wish we could go "new house shopping" together, we'd have a ball, but I bet Home Depot would kick us out & tell us not to come back. hehe
Let me get off here and get some stuff done, I have our tv anchor's Standard Poodle Claude to groom today and he takes alot out of me, but he is a sweet boy and his mama is very good to me so he's a keeper.
later taters,
(maybe we can get Asa to come back if we ask him to go to Home Depot with us Boo ya reckon??)

July 22, 2009 - Msg 74078: Hey Rev I forgot to say watch out, I'm rockin forward hope I didn't mash yer toe. Please be careful out on the road and know you are in my prayers everyday, as are all of you!

July 22, 2009 - Msg 74079: Boy was that post of mine confusing, I meant he had valid points, but not that he was right about NASA taking care of those astronauts. Oh well, that's what happens when Boo is running around here painting everything, the fumes are getting to me, or is that Barney's cologne??

July 22, 2009 - Msg 74080: "PURPLE HAZE"?!...how do you like your new nickname, Hazel?

Thanks for the opinion, M-T, sounds great.

Yes, check it out, REV. There are several sites that offer the cyber-painting. God speed, REV.

It would be fun to shop together, Mavis! We could go get some Frappacinos from Starbucks, got to Home Depot, gather our paint samples and home improvement mags/books off the shelf and find some comfy lawn furniture...put our feet up on the tables and make ourselves at home (well, they call it HOME Depot, don't they?). Then we could take turns napping in the display hammocks and sitting in the bathtubs and on the toilets!

Mave, did you ever consider green for the house? Not dark green but maybe a light sage green? It would look woodsy and blend well with it's surroundings.

A standard poodle named "Claude"?! His owner had a sense of humor.

July 22, 2009 - Msg 74081: Oh and, yes, ask ASA to come with us, Mavis. I'll bet I could get him to try on some toolbelts for me! (smiling dreamily) |=)

July 22, 2009 - Msg 74082:
Rev- What?, I thought Al and Bill wired the WHOLE country!? ha Prayers for good concerts spreading
the Word.
Don't know if any of you have every flown thru
a thunderstorm, but I experienced my first on
sunday evening. In a little 40 seat commuter jet
it was darn scary, even with all the dramamine
that I took! The plane would rise and fall 5 feet or so at a time, and then tilted back and forth, etc for about 20 minutes.
I prayed hard! Even the pilot said that he didnt think it would be THAT rough. So that's my story
and I'm sticking to it.
Haze- I think O'Malley makes orthopedic shoes for those bad feet! (:
BOO- waht do you think of a very light blue,
mostly white-ish with a hint of blue?
AUh20- "One giant leap for mankind, one small
step backwards for 5 ditzy ladies!" haha
God bless,

July 22, 2009 - Msg 74083: Yes, MDC, I have flown through a storm or two...hate it. I like light blue, MDC. It is certainly in the running.

July 22, 2009 - Msg 74084: Just to clear up a few things for the ladies of "The View," there is no Easter bunny, Mikey did not die from eating Pop Rocks and drinking soda, Elvis really is dead, and we landed on the moon. I don't know what "view" they are looking at, but I suggest they get their heads out of it and into some daylight.

MDC: That sounds like one crazy flight. You sure that was dramamine you were taking? ;->

BOO: The sad part is, I always end up in line behind people like that at Home Depot.

July 22, 2009 - Msg 74085:
MT- Maybe I shouldnt have mixed the Dram with the soda! Same effect ya know! (:
"but really oscifer, there was a storm...really..."

July 22, 2009 - Msg 74086: Oh the dipsy doodle!

July 22, 2009 - Msg 74087: "...people like THAT", M-They?...are you insulting me?...(just kidding). I wouldn't really nap in the hammocks or sit on the toilets, although i did get in one of the tubs once and I do sit in the lawn furniture when I am waiting for Bruce..ok, and I look at the magazines...and maybe put my feet up now and then, and if I am really honest I have to confess that the kids and I have sat on the toilets for laughs (looking down in embarassment). Hasn't everyone?!

I don't know, MDC, did you mix the Dram with COKE??

Better go...I'm heading to Home Depot so sit on some toilets.

July 22, 2009 - Msg 74088: Don't get flushed!

July 22, 2009 - Msg 74089: Very funny...

July 22, 2009 - Msg 74090: Boo,I'll go to Home Depot with you and Mavis and check out some flowers and potting soil!It would be much more fun to go with you than alone like I usually do.My teenage daughter always rolls her eyes when I head to a greenhouse or the lawn and garden section of stores! The last one I went to she refused to get out, just waited for me in the car.She knows I look at everything.Oh,I am now picking zucchini from my garden and tomatoes from my dads garden,I didn't plant any tomatoes this year. The lettuce is ready for a second picking and the beans will be ready to pick pretty soon.Haven't had any fried green tomatoes yet, but, I will before summers over.MDC,sounds like your flight was scary, glad you made it home safe.-ky girl

July 22, 2009 - Msg 74091: I'm glad you reminded me, KY GIRL; anybody want a zuchini to go with your ship in a bottle? I'm up to my ears in zuchini! It ain't pretty.

Nora does the same as your daughter, KY GIRL. She always begs me to let her stay in the car. Chad, on the other hand, loves it. Believe it or not, he likes to go and shop for wood. As he says, I love the big orange store!

July 22, 2009 - Msg 74092: 'Scuse me.

July 22, 2009 - Msg 74093: Hey gang just been busy with the new camper sorry...got some pics to send Romeena for the album, will do that tonight...and will readd in just a bit...got nice pot roast in the crock pot with taters and.coen...SPOT

July 22, 2009 - Msg 74094: I thought O'Malley went to DE-troit?

July 22, 2009 - Msg 74095: Good evening, porch! Good gracious, you all have been pretty chatty since yesterday. That's great!

Me-They, I must take issue with your statement that "all feet are bad." Just where, may I ask, would we be without feet? We'd look pretty funny if our legs just ended at the ankles, to say nothing of the difficulty that would cause when we tried to walk. As for shoes, they can be good or bad. They're good when they keep us from stepping on something that would hurt our long-suffering feet, but they're bad when they cruelly confine a foot that's longing to run free. I just had a pedicure today, have little flowers painted on my big toenails, and am barefoot at this moment, have been most of the day. I say, "Long live feet!"

Boo, I like the idea of the very, very pale blue, perhaps with dark blue trim. Might look a bit "flaggy" with the red barn, but that might be okay too. A soft dove gray with navy or black shutters could be nice. I think you'll want to avoid greens, yellows and maybe browns, with the red barn. Or not. You could make a case for a red barn pretty much standing alone, regardless of the colors around it. A barn just should be red, and of course it should have the white trim you mentioned.

Oh my! A hummingbird just came through the yard, and my feeders are empty! Gotta go fill them, can't let the little thing be disappointed. See you later. --Romeena

July 22, 2009 - Msg 74096: Evenin' y'all- Boo,I was going to suggest the pale blue, with dark blue trim, like Ro suggested.I think that would be nice. I'll go with y'all to Home Depot-we can take turns pushing each other in the on those big lumber buggy cart thingies! Wheee! Ha!

Never been on a plane ride like that,MDC and hope I never experience that- sounds frightening!

Mavis,Mrs.Drysdale's poodle on "The Beverly Hillbillies" was named Claude-remember?!

Thanks for supper,Spot. Sounds good-even the "coen" Ha! We know what ya meant!

Asa,we miss you. Come back home to the Porch soon,ya hear?

Prayers and love to all!

July 22, 2009 - Msg 74098: Hey folks,

I wanted to let you know that the last two weeks the Two Chairs No Waiting Mayberry Podcast has featured interviews with WBMUTBB members Dave & Marsha Scheuermann. They are the owners of the Taylor Home Inn bed and breakfast located near Clear Lake, WI.

We've thus far done two parts (episodes 40 &41) of our interview with the Scheuermann's and we'll have at least one more segment next week. If you've never seen their bed & breakfast, it is a sight to behold. Drop by the podcast web site an give them a listen. You'll also want to see the photos of the Taylor Home Inn. You might even want to plan a trip up to visit them....I know I certainly do.

As a side note...this couple actually met each other right here on The Taylor's Front Porch!

July 22, 2009 - Msg 74099: Boo, I like blue houses. With darker shades of blue for the trim. Just please don't choose turquoise (not sure if that's spelled right). I don't care for that color, and if you do choose that color, I'm afraid I won't be able to ever visit you. As for the barn, I'm with Romeena. It's GOT to be red. Any other color would just be wrong.
I like the nick "Haze", and I believe I'm going to go by that from now on. Since I'm usually walking around in a haze, it would be fitting.
We've got a lot of squash right now too. Yellow crooknecks, yellow straights, and zuchini. If only my tomatoes would turn red. Most of them are still green. But actually in our area our tomatoes don't ripen up until after August, so I know I'm pushing it. I am just looking forward to some fresh salsa!
How big is your hummingbird, Ro? We've had the little teeny ones that you can barely see in the past, but this year, it's a pretty big one. So cute as he pokes his beak (or whatever it's called) into the hole in the feeder. I love hummingbirds. Something about them just makes the backyard peaceful.
Me-They, you mentioned one time that your wife was doing some bee-keeping. How'd that work out? I tried it this year, but it didn't work out so good. I'll try again next year for sure, but I'd be interested to know what kind of bees she grew (harvested, hatched - I can't think of the word). I had Orchard Mason Bees (cute little fellers), but, alas, not many of them survived.

July 22, 2009 - Msg 74100: Didn't see you there, Floyd. I'll check it out later!
- Hazel

July 22, 2009 - Msg 74101: I'm back again. Just went to Floyd's link and visited the Taylor Home website. Fascinating! Now there's a vacation I could really enjoy. Might wait until the "jail" is finished, though. Wouldn't want to miss that!

Haze, (I love that!) my hummer is about thumb size. Are you sure the very tiny hummingbirds are really hummingbirds? I've been fooled before. There are hummingbird moths that look 99.9% like a hummingbird. You have to be close enough to see his little feathery antennae to realize it's not a bird. They even hold their little bodies in the same slight curve that a hummer uses. Cutest little things you ever saw! They visit flowers too, just like the birds, so that strengthens the illusion. Google "Hummingbird moths" and look for the link that says "Image results for Hummingbird Moth" and check it out. Lots of fantastic pictures there. The moth that visited my garden was a White-lined Sphinx, and he's pictured there. The antennae are the giveaway, and to a great extent, the size. They are generally smaller than a real hummingbird, though some are quite large. Beautiful creatures. God must have had so much fun designing them.

Joe and Jorge and a new helper, Margarito, were here today and cleared all the weeds out of the flowerbeds. Then Joe and I went to his brother's garden center and brought home angelonia, periwinkles, begonias, moss rose and a stunning bouganvillea. There wasn't time to plant today, but it will all go in the ground tomorrow. Joe pruned the roses for me, so if I'm lucky, they'll put on some new blooms, and the yard should be looking pretty good by the time my brother-in-law and his family arrive on Aug 4. It's hard to get much going in this heat, but the things we bought will take it, so maybe it will look okay. Even my petunias had fainted dead away, and I do mean dead! The heat has just been brutal.

Well, it's late, guess I'd better feed Toye Starr and myself, and hit the bed. I'll have two little grandsons in the morning, along with yard workers. That should be interesting!

Be blessed, friends. --Romeena

July 22, 2009 - Msg 74102: Evening Family:
Just checking in for a short "rock". I like the idea of color sampling on my house- I just want it to stay so I don't have to do it for real!! Sure would save a heap of time painting!
A quick update on my co-worker Deb...They have started intensive therapy, she is eating pureed foods and still not talking. It seems that part of her brain has been affected. The right side is still paralized. Please continue to lift her and the family in prayer. It's much appreciated and needed.
Well, off to color my house...~New Neighbor

July 22, 2009 - Msg 74103: One more thing, friends. If you're not visiting Floyd's "Two Chairs No Waiting", you're missing some fun. It's been going on for a while now, so going back to the first and working forward would be a project, but would be worth it if you have the time. If not, just check out the titles and jump in anywhere that you're most attracted. Some good stuff there! --Romeena

July 23, 2009 - Msg 74104: Well gang bed for me...Ro I sent ya a pic...night yall see at waffle house....SPOT

July 23, 2009 - Msg 74105: Now you are someone I could have fun with at Home Depot, Possum. I'll bet you would even sit on the toilets!

I like the light blue idea for the house, but couldn't do the dark blue trim. Maybe light blue with white trim.

I am thankful for feet, too Romeena! I guess Me-They and I could never hang out much because I am a flip-flop addict. My feet have to breathe!...especially in these 1oo degree temps! I was thinking, I'll bet Me-They's feet and ankles are as whiter than Snow White's fanny...probably never see the light of day.

HAZE, you are too funny. I hate turquoise, too, so no worries.

Prayers contiue for Deb.

Better get to bed. I have to be up early...they are pouring the foundation. The builder suggested that we, as a family, make a type of time capsule to put into the cornerstone of the foudation. We put prayers, scriptures and our wishes for the new home on paper and folded them and placed them into a sealed container, which will be placed into the cement. I will also have the kids put their handprints into the cement somewhere on the carport.

July 23, 2009 - Msg 74106: Mornin' Y'all! Nice idea regarding the time capsule and family prayers,Boo. No,don't paint your house turquoise.Nothing wrong with the color, but not for a house!
Yeah,I'll sit on the Home Depot toilets with you! Hmm.. something about that doesn't quite sound right! Ha!
I'm up early this morning,so guess I'll fix breakfast. Let's have bacon, grits, scrambled eggs, french toast with warm maple syrup, juice, coffee, and Krispy Kremes! Now THAT'LL lay on yer chest!
possum under a rock

July 23, 2009 - Msg 74107: Thanks Possum, you're a pal!

Well, the foundation has been done. The concrete is in place and all that's left for them to do is run those machines over it that smooth the surface. They should be able to walk on it in a couple of hours. Hard to believe that stuff dries so quickly.

Gotta go pick up Bruce because he is still out there watching them lay the barn slab. I came home to put some chicken in the crock pot. Be back later...

July 23, 2009 - Msg 74108: Good morning everyone.

Okay, all you feet people...ROMEENA: I guess I should have said that "all feet are ugly." We sure do need feet, but I see them as utilitarian and not for showing off, kind of like a spleen or something. Having been around 43 odd years (some more odd than others) I certainly have been around my fair share of feet. So, BOO, we sure could hang out. I just won't look down. Pedicure, painted flowers, drop lighting, or disco ball, nothingh makes a foot look better than being in a closed-toe shoe. Yes, BOO, my feet are lily white and as soft as a baby's bottom. And proportioned nicely, as feet go. Y'know what grosses me out more than feet, though? That disgusting Ped-Egg commercial. Have you seen that horror show?

HAZEL: The Mrs. bees survived the winter okay. However, they swarmed in the spring (half the hive left). Not sure why, but a lot of experienced beekeepers in our area had the same problem this year (maybe the fallout is effecting their milk?). Still, the hive is fairly large and seems to be pretty healthy so its possible we may still get some honey thsi season. But they're on their own for awhile; the Mrs. hasn't done much with them or even checked on them in several weeks and probably won't for a few more. She's just not up for it right now. The boxes (whatever they're called) are pretty heavy lifting now and take two people. I wonder who she'll get to help ;-). I'm sorry, I don't know what kind of bees they are, but they sure ain't what I'd call "cute."

Thanks for breakfast, POSSUM.

BOO: Tell Bruce that watching cement dry is about the most boring thing since, well, watching cement dry.

That reminds me...I was watching "Good Eats" teh other evening and Alton Brown, who was doing stuff with toast, said something like, "This sliced bread is the best thing since itself." Well I must have laughed for five minutes. I know it's only midly amusing, but for some reason it just hit me as fall-down funny.

July 23, 2009 - Msg 74109: ROMEENA: Did you get my e-mail yesterday with pics of the "dueling" church signs? It seemed to send okay, so if you didn't maybe it's in your spam filter or something.

July 23, 2009 - Msg 74110: Good morning, porch. Yep, Me-They, I got that email, and it's a hoot. Just didn't get around to answering it. You're right, the Catholics seem to have a much better sense of humor, and their neighbor is pretty stuffy.

You're also absolutely right about that ped-egg commercial. It's disgusting. I've been enjoying my parmesan cheese in slices, rather than grated, since I saw that thing. Yuck!!

Now as for watching cement dry being boring, it all depends on whose cement it is. When it's the foundation of your new home, it can be absolutely fascinating!

Well, grandsons are here, the uproar is escalating in the living room, guess I'd better go crack a couple of hard little heads together and ratchet things down a notch or two. Be blessed, all. --Romeena

July 23, 2009 - Msg 74111: Wanna come over and take care of my two oldest ROMEENA? The Mrs. could use the break. Those two get along like a hungry Nancy Pelosi and Ann Coulter fighting over the last hors d'ourve.

July 23, 2009 - Msg 74112: Hey, email me that church thing please, Me-They. (if you have a chance).

Well, Bruce didn't watch the cement for long. What was interesting, and I had never seen before is the equipment they used on this job. There the usual cement truck, then this other huge truck with a giant arm on the top that had a tube on the end. The cement went into the huge truck and then shot through the arm and out the end of the tube. The thing was really big, looked like a crane or something. Anyway, I am sure you guys are familiar with this strange monster-like spider arm of a contraption, but it was new to me. I got pictures to send.

Now the kids just have to go out after noon and put their hand prints in the cement. They will actually remove the forms this afternoon and we will be walking on it by evening. Hard to believe. The builder said the lumber will be delivered tomorrow and the framing will start...things are moving right along.

Think I will "chill out" for a bit.

July 23, 2009 - Msg 74113: Oh, and I DO agree with you Me-They. The ped egg commercial is gross.

July 23, 2009 - Msg 74114: Also forgot to mention that the giant mechanical arm on the cement machine was operated by remote control. The guy operating the thing would stand near the site and use a box that was tied around his neck with little levers on it. Very sci-fi.

July 23, 2009 - Msg 74115: I sent if off, BOO. I tried to do it via Facebook, but it wouldn't let me cut and paste, so I sent it to your regular e-mail. Let me know if you don't receive it.

July 23, 2009 - Msg 74116: Sure, he can work a giant robot arm pouring cement with precision using a remote control, but can he peel an apple without breaking the skin?

July 23, 2009 - Msg 74117:

July 23, 2009 - Msg 74121: Glad to hear that about that new Behr paint. I was thinking about using it for a project and was wondering how good it was. I tend to be skeptical about products that seem to do it all (I still don't believe that a shampoo with conditioner in it can be any good--how can you strip oils with soap only to add them at the same time?). If it can stand up to your beating sun, it should be okay around here.

I can picture the scene with that name in it in my head, but for the life of me can't remember what episode it is. Thanks! Just what I needed! More frustration in my life.

July 23, 2009 - Msg 74122: Lavidia is in the episode where Barney sends all the girls over to Andy's house, hoping he'll pick a wife.I think I'm right, but may be confused after all that toilet sitting- ha!
Yep,I have a birthday coming up,MDC. It's the big 5-0 next Thursday.Hard to believe.
Well,I'd better scoot.boo might wanna go terrorize Home Depot again,so I need to be on stand by!

July 23, 2009 - Msg 74123: Or perhaps that should be "sit by"- hee hee

possum once more

July 23, 2009 - Msg 74124: Thanks for the welcome back, all.

Speaking of birthdays, I think someone here on the porch is having one tomorrow and I believe it's one of those 'ending in 0' ones, but I'm not gonna give them a too hard of a time about it, since I'm having one of those this year as well. *grin*

Glad to hear things are progressing nicely on your 'homestead', Boo. I think a light to medium blue with some white (or tan or beige) and red (like your barn) accents would be just gorgeous. I remember when we built our garage/MIL quarters 6 years ago, I'd love to just sit out in the driveway and watch them build. I remember putting the girls' prints in the concrete as well. Didn't think of putting in some kind of time capsule, though - that's a really neat idea. We've also had good success with Behr paint.

You can hang out with me if your want, M-T. I almost always wear socks (I hate for my feet to get cold), and only wear sandals for church. Hope your family is getting into a nice little routine with Miss Lila, and your Mrs is able to get plenty of rest. I'm sure Miss Lila gets plenty of love with big brother and sister still home for the summer. When do they head back to school? Evie goes back Aug 19. She (and I) can hardly wait. :)

Well, I'll get off here and get some things done before hubby gets home. Prayers for all.

July 23, 2009 - Msg 74125: Hey there AFD. The last few nights the Mrs. has been feeding Lila about 11:30 p.m., then she wakes up around 2:30-3:00, then again at about 6:30, so things are evening out. Both seem to be sleeping better, which means I do, too ;-).

Nora and Chad head back on August 24. We can't wait either. I love my kids dearly but darned if they don't pluck my nerves. Veda starts preschool in Sept. She's going two times a week for two hours. The preschool is the same one the otehrs went to, which is right across the street from my work. She doesn't get to play with any kids her own age so it'll be nice.

I know I'll forget since I'll be in and out tomorrow, so happy birthday HOMEMAKER!

July 23, 2009 - Msg 74126: Asa you get your tail back here...I aint got nobody to park cars!...sorry gang just been busy around the dog house with the new camper and yard work..gona have a lake day Monday...just cruise the lake...camping 10th of next month for a week..I got Romeena a pic of the new camper she will put in the album soon...got some good camping pics I will get her too...we hey M-T,possum,boo,afd,hazel,ahu20....seems like we are missing alot of folks....well its work for me tonight at 10...possum I will get a mess of veggies from the garden(peas, maters, corn, okra) if you will whup up a few meatloafs for this bunch...Boo make some tea ok...maude slaw?....I will need to make me a plate for lunch tomorrow at work.....prayers...see ya at supper...SPOT

July 23, 2009 - Msg 74127: Count me in for supper Spot,it all sounds good.Happy Birthday Homemaker!-ky girl

July 23, 2009 - Msg 74128: Good afternoon, porch. Long day of yard work (I didn't do much of it, but still had to be involved - you know how that is!) Not quite finished - Joe will return tomorrow to do some adjusting and trouble shooting on the sprinkler system. Then we're fiished. The island flowerbed looks gaw-jus!

Possum, I think you're right about the episode where Barney brings the girls to Andy's house, but if I'm not mistaken, the girl's name is Lavinia, not Lavidia. At least that's what it sounds like to me, but that could be because I know someone named Lavinia.

Well, guess I'll try to grab a VERY short nap before going to work tonight. This is going to be a long shift - I've been up since 7:00, and maybe an hour of sleep now - oy!

Be blessed, friends. --Romeena

July 23, 2009 - Msg 74129: Er, that's "finished" up there, not "fiished". Good grief. --Romeena

July 23, 2009 - Msg 74130: Yeah,Ro,I really thought it was "Lavinia" too, pretty much for the same reason you stated.Lavinia is a Southern name, and I know of a few ladies around here with that name. I was thinking that MDC might have heard it wrong, but I didn't want to be rude (I got a rude, bet you've never gotten a rude before!) by saying anything. But.. maybe MDC has come up with a doozy of a trivia question, and he DID mean " Lavidia".In that case,I am stumped!
Is tomorrow homemaker's birthday? I know of somebody else having one tomorrow- first name (Porch name) begins with an "R" and ends with an "A". Can y'all guess?! I'll save my birthday wishes for tomorrow-we'll have to throw a party! I'll head upthe entertainment.Maybe I can get Bobby Fleet & His Band With The Beat to play! Boo,you make a cake, and perhaps Asa will show up with his fire extinquisher- he enjoys keeping those birthday candles under control,ya know!
possum again

July 23, 2009 - Msg 74131:
It could be Lavinia, but i just saw it last night on dvd and I thought he said Lavidia, but anyway, you two got it!
I love the part where Andy tells Opie that he thinks they should do the story at another time because "they're startin' to pile up in here." haha
Next I'll tell ya about a shot that was heard
"clear round the whole world!"
Prayers for Lila and mommy.
Hey to Spot- let's see the new camper soon.
God bless all!

July 23, 2009 - Msg 74132: Ok, I don't watch the news much anymore so I missed all this, but found it on youtube, can someone tell me what is going on here? I mean besides the obvious snubbing, where was he, what was he doing?

July 23, 2009 - Msg 74133: Whew, busy day! We were out of the house most of the day and once we all got home around 9pm, someone noticed that our kitty was missing. He must have gotten out the front door when we were leaving this afternoon because he is nowhere to be found inside or outside and now poor Erin is crying her eyes out. I don't know why he would run off. Please pray that we find him.

July 24, 2009 - Msg 74134: Hey gang watching "The Man From Snowy River"...good movie....got one outage going on here at work....SPOT

July 24, 2009 - Msg 74135: Ok porch slept good last night looks like...its 5:45 so I will get breakfast started and let yall sleep just a bit...3 eggs your way, grits, bacon, toast, mixed fruit jelly,oj,coffee,milk...kinda a light one...well its off at 6 for me and back at 12 (noon) this time a quick turn around then here for 18 till sat morn..8 of that OT!...well prayers for all the missing porchsters...get up possum,Mavis,Ro,MDC..."ASA!".....SPOT

July 24, 2009 - Msg 74136: Happy Birthday to Romeena!!

I'm up,spot,I'm up.Now quit yer barking and get out there and find Erin's kitty.Poor lil' thing,I hate that she's crying.Praying that he'll show up- Boo,let us know.

There's been speculation that today is also homemaker's birthday,so I'm gonna go ahead and say Happy Birthday to homemaker!!

I say let's have a big birthday bash tonight.Spot, can we use your barn? I'll make sure somebody runs ya a big hunk of birthday cake over to the Power company and I'll do my best to see that we don't set your barn a blazing with all those candles! Still trying to get Asa & his trusty fire extinquisher-if not,we'll just run the garden hose. Asa,get up man,and get ready,ya hear me?!
See y'all at the birthday bash.I'll be rolling in later with Freddie Fleet and the band!
possum under a rock

July 24, 2009 - Msg 74137: Happy Birthday to Homemaker and Romeena?! Wow, I didn't know Ro had a birthday this month...where have i been?

Thanks Possum. Still no kitty this morning and we have looked and looked! Bruce thought he spotted Tiger across the street with some other cats but when I went to see about it, it wasn't Tiger. I am thinking that maybe a neighbor has him. It's too early to start knocking on doors but we will do that later and put up some signs, I guess. Erin and Sean cried for about 30 minutes and then they seemed to be ok. Mostly they were concerned about the cat's safety since he has always been inside and is still very young.

Boy, I got one of those bad headaches before I went to bed last night and I had it all night and this morning it is still there on the left side of my head. Maybe the coffee will help.

The church youth have a work day today and I have to take the boys to that, so I better finish my coffee and see if I can find some medicine to take. See ya later...

Oh, Possum, if you are afraid of a fire in SPOT's barn, you could come to my place...my barn is just a slab so we couldn't do any harm to anything! All we need is some lawn chairs, a bbq grill and something to cook.

July 24, 2009 - Msg 74138: Happy Birthday to all the Birthday Folks! What a party we are gonna have. I will be back later, going to get to work.
Prayers and blessings to all
Big Maude

July 24, 2009 - Msg 74139: BTW, MDC, thanks for the tip on the BEHR paint. I will certainly pass that on to Bruce.

July 24, 2009 - Msg 74140: Hi All.
Will we gat some rain last week taht we can used.

July 24, 2009 - Msg 74141: Good morning everyone.

I'm terrible with birthdays, so I hope I didn't start a rumor about it being HOMEMAKER's birthday. At least I'm not some traveling show salesman from New York City. I did think I heard someone, somewhere (Facebook?) mention that it was her big day today.

Happy birthday to ROMEENA, anyway! What is it? 38, 39?

July 24, 2009 - Msg 74142: BOO: I don't how I missed you post about your kitty, but I did. I'm so sorry to hear that. I'll say a little prayer that she returns healthy, soon.

July 24, 2009 - Msg 74143:
I see that Freddy Fleet and his band with a beat
will be there, AND the original Wildcats too! Wow.
(Should we also have the fire dept on stand by whilst they light the candles on the cake?) haha
Have a good one!

July 24, 2009 - Msg 74144:
Possum, I don't have a rude, so i guess I just
got one! ha
RO- you know I'm just jivin' wit ya.
We don't need the fire dept., but i will have a
fire extinquisher handy! haha

July 24, 2009 - Msg 74145:
OH Happy Day to Homemaker also!!

July 24, 2009 - Msg 74146: Thank you, M-T. We still haven't found him but I put his food and water on the front porch in case he comes back.

I just drove by the homesite and the back wall of my bedroom is already up. I can't believe how fast they work!

Well, time to take a break. It is SO hot outside. Supposed to be 99 with a heat index of 110 today.

July 24, 2009 - Msg 74147:
OUCH! That's dang hot!

July 24, 2009 - Msg 74148: Oh yes it is!

Where's everyone today?

July 24, 2009 - Msg 74149: Boo, thanks for the offer of us having the bash at your place. I think we will politely decline though- 110 degrees?! Maybe Spot has A/C in his barn,or fans,at the very least. Things will get cookin' once those groovy bands start playing, plus all those candles throw off a lot of heat! (Hey,I can tease hm & Ro,cause my day is just around the corner.Oh boy.Ha!)
Hope the cat returns home soon. I keep hearing Laurie Berkner (she's a kiddie tune singer/songwriter) singing her 'hit' song- "The Cat Came Back"-maybe once I know that the cat is home, the voices in my head will leave me alone- LOL!!
See y'all at the birthday party later!

July 24, 2009 - Msg 74150: Your a smart Possum, Possum. It is so hot and humid today! Of course we could "dance till our stocking were hot and raveling"....(or something like that).

On second thought, just take some pictures for me.
