The funeral for our neighbor is this morning. Thanks for the prayers for Jean. I know this will be hard for her. Her Husband was well known and well liked. The greeting line will be long no doubt.

Still working on my talk for Church tomorrow. Dang, how'd I let myself get talked into this? I don't think my preacher heard me talking about his sermons being dry as dust. Hmmm, makes ya wonder though.

Well better get going. Lots to do today.

Well, thanks for sweeping up,Asa. Wonder how long we can keep the Porch clean this time around?! Hee Hee So,Rev,you caught up with the topic of late, huh? We ran it into the ground,or should I say, toilet! Ha!
Ok,I'll behave. Somebody swing by and pick me up for breakfast.

August 29, 2009 - Msg 74869: I'm sure you'll do fine, Asa. Your preacher must know you are the right man for the job if he called you up to do it.

Romeena, you might be better off getting someone, like a relative or friend, who knows something about electronics to fix your system. That's what my brother would say anyway. He installs satellite tv, as well as being a guy who is pretty handy doing anything, and he tells me those Best Buy guys don't know anything. :)
Good luck getting that back on track.

August 29, 2009 - Msg 74870: As promised, homemaker, your pictures are now in the album. I titled them, hope I got the boys' names right. If not, let me know - it's easy to change. I only added six - you sent seven, but two were identical, same number and all. Looks like your family was having a great time. What a way to raise kids - I envy you.

Folks, you need to drop by the album. Homemaker now has her own sub-album (she now has ten or more pictures, which is when I make a sub-album). Also, I rearranged the whole order of things just a bit. You may not notice the changes, but I think it's a little better. Individual sub-albums are first, with general-purpose subs following. Except for the Porchsters' Pets, I left it first. It has a lot of my little Plum's pictures in it, and that baby will always be first with me, I guess. By the way, send me some more pet pictures - the Plum is lonely!

Well, guess I'll hunt up some lunch. Got some pretty good leftovers from last night, so that sounds like a plan. No cooking, just a quick zap and it's ready to eat. I love leftovers!

Be blessed, friends. --Romeena

August 29, 2009 - Msg 74871: Well, Sterling, I would bet that your brother is right. Problem is, I don't know anyone who knows any more than the Best Buy guys do. My son is the one who suggested I call them, so he can't help me. He doesn't know anything about it. My grandson down in Fredericksburg is very computer savvy, but doesn't know beans about sound systems.

I think I'll do a little networking - maybe I'll come up with somebody. --Romeena

August 30, 2009 - Msg 74880: Awww, shoot! I got the word too late, to go to Yancey with you. You might not have wanted an old gal like me along anyway, and Toye Starr is underage, so they wouldn't have let her in. Even in furkid years, she's still too young. I hope y'all didn't get in any trouble, or disgrace the porch or anything. I suppose you'll be sittin' in church tomorrow, looking all innocent and sweet. Just be sure you take off those earrings! I don't think Reverend Tucker likes them too much. --Romeena

August 30, 2009 - Msg 74881: Of course we want you along, Ro! We will take you next weekend and we can sneak Toye along in a big handbag.

Speaking of church, I wanted to ask your prayers again, please. Our pastor asked the family that we have been struggling with, to meet with us and him tomorrow afternoon. He told them it wasn't optional but he never got a commitment from them, so I don't know if they will show or not. This is dragging on and getting harder. I don't know what will happen if they show up and I am nervous if they do. It won't be an easy thing to meet with them.

Having some trouble sleeping, just having an anxiety attack tonight (haven't had one in months, so not complaining). It's not a bad one and prayer has helped. I managed to fall asleep but that crazy new breathing machine of Bruce's is very quiet and then suddenly it will sound like the air hose at the filling station...just starts hissing real loud. It will take some getting used to. Think I will try it again..

Boo

August 30, 2009 - Msg 74882:
God bless you and keep you.
May you rest well this night and be in His arms.

August 30, 2009 - Msg 74883: Boo, I've read with interest your problems you have been having with that family. Mostly because I have been having a similar problem with someone who I found out goes to our church. I think I told you guys about an incident I had with a friend of an ex-gf back in the 80's(there were threats involved and all-not by me, btw), and thought I was having a problem with another of her friends just last summer(though that turned out to have a rational explanation). Well, the person who I had the incident with in the 80's goes to our church. I kind of guessed he did when I saw his name in the birthday section of the church bulletin, but at first I thought maybe it was someone with the same name, but then when I thought I saw him there in passing I kind of figured it was him. I'm thinking he wasn't very active before because I never saw him there usually though. But lately I have seen him more and more at church. And to be quite honest it had made me hesitant to go to church, because I usually like to use the philosophy of "out of sight, out of mind" when dealing with people like that, but that is kind of hard when you are seeing each other at church on Sunday.
If we happen to be in the same area, I actually try to make eye contact with him, just to say a friendly "hi" or something to ease any tensions, but he never makes eye contact with me. And I am not sure I am ready to go up and talk to him yet.
Though I almost feel like this is why God led us to the same church. I don't know about him, but he is the only person I know from my past at that church, and we actually both went to the same Catholic elementary school(different grades though), so I find it miraculous that we both find ourselves together in this church.
Anyway Boo, I don't know if any of this helps you feel better about your situation. I just wanted to let you know that you are not alone in it, but you are at least doing something about it.
I have this little dream of what I would say to the guy and how he would react, and everything would be ok. But that just makes me more hesitant to talk to him about it because I am afraid he might not want to make amends, and my dream of how it would turn out would be sunk.
Though I can't get past the fact that the Lord for some reason led both of us to this same church. I know there is a reason. Just as there is a reason for what is going on with you and that family.

I will be praying for you.

On a brighter note, a friend of mine is flying over from Germany tonight. I don't really know why he is coming, but I guess I will find out tomorrow. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers as well for a safe trip.

As for ky girl's earrings, Toye Starr had them. She was wearing them, but they were hidden by her hair. You know how she has that long silky hair on her ears? I had no idea that little girl like to party so much! I'll have to think twice about taking her along, I guess.

Well, gotta get ready for church. This new early schedule is killin' me! 8:15, indeed!

August 30, 2009 - Msg 74886: So that was KY Girls skirt I was teasing with huh? Who knew. Sorry about that.

Well Boo, I sure do hope that family will meet with the Pastor and resolve this issue for you all. It sounds like it's really bothering you. I hope it will all work out for you. Personaly though, if they seem unwilling to resolve it, I would let them know in no uncertain terms, that you and your family are not going anywhere. You have found your Church home and you are going to stay there. It almost seems like she wants to drive you away, and I'm just onery enough I wouldn't give her the power or satisfaction of it. My guess is she will have to cool her jets, or leave the Church herself. Anyway, that's just the thoughts of an old man with a hangover. (hiccup)

Guess I'll go polish up my talk. Hope I have enough polish.

Asa

August 30, 2009 - Msg 74887: Thanks for those thoughts, Asa and Sterling. You have both given me something to think about. Sterling, it certainly does seem that the Lord might have reconciliation in mind for you and that man. I will be praying for that situation and would really rejoice in what the Lord might do. Wouldn't it be amazing if the two of you became good friends?

Asa, I am feeling more and more like I want to stay and I understand what you are saying. My guess would be that she won't show today and if too pressured, she might leave. That's not the idea situation, but it's in God's hands. I have been reading a book about how to handle confict (by a Christian author) and it is very good. I was reading about how people have these "power plays" to gain control in a conflict. One was tactic was to keep silence and refuse to talk with someone in order to have control of the situation and I think that is what is happening here. She doesn't want to meet with someone in authority because she would feel like she wasn't in control and I think she enjoys making us wait on her. She is a very controlling person. Probably the worst I know, personally. Every minute of her children's day is scheduled with some type of activity. She even contols every bite that they eat by not having food in the house. I'm not kidding. I have been to her house several times and found no food in the refrigerator or freezer..and I mean nothing. She lives in an expensive home in a posh community but has no food in her kitchen. She controls all the finances in her home and when she works and her husband has the kids, she leaves him a list of things he should do while she's gone...where to take the kids, etc. The man can't have one thought by himself. In social situations, she is loud and very pushy. So, you see that I may not have an easy time talking with her. I am not looking forward to it.

Well better go get ready for preachin'.

Possum, I don't remember much about last night...must have had too much of the squeezins. Hope I didn't drive everyone home!

August 30, 2009 - Msg 74891: Hey, y'all. Boo, I think you've got that woman figured out pretty well. She's loving every minute of it - having people waiting on her to decide when and if she's going to condescend to meet with you. She's not about to let the pastor control the meeting, either. I'll be surprised if she shows up, but if she does, I sure do want to hear about it! If she doesn't, then I would cease any attempts to reconcile with her. I wouldn't be ugly to her, but wouldn't make any overtures toward her either. In other words, I'd ignore her. In the event that she ever apologizes or tries to mend the fence, I know you would be quick to forgive and forget. Meantime, let her stew in her own juice.

Tom, I'm sorry you're having such a struggle with your stepdad. You know, it might be a good idea to have a private conversation with his doctor. Ask him or her if it would make any difference now if your stepdad stopped smoking, enough difference to be worth the fight, which you probably can't win anyway. I remember with my granddad years ago, the doctor finally told my mother and her sister to leave him alone and let him smoke. He said after he had smoked for over sixty years, quitting then wasn't going to change anything, so let him do what he enjoyed. They did, and the household was much more peaceful. He had to go outside, but he still smoked. All I'm saying is, pick your battles.

Well, it's a perfect afternoon for a little nap, there's a TAGS marathon on TVLand, and I'm off to cuddle little Starr and watch TV and snooze. I love Sundays! Be blessd, all. --Romeena

Well the talk went ok I think. Probably not real smooth cause I was nervous, but I was able to hit on most of the points I wanted to hit on. I hate it when afterwards I remember I meant to say somethinh important and forgot to. But this time I think I spoke on all I had planned. Just not very smoothly. Thanks for all who gave me encouragement and ideas. Didn't see knoe neked people in there MDC, but saw a lot of foreheads. That idea worked pretty darn fine.

August 30, 2009 - Msg 74896: Here's what I don't get. (in a long list of things in life that I don't get...) And I don't really want to complain, because I am so glad that TV Land at least still has TAGS in their line-up... but I don't understand why, when they give us a marithon, why they play 6 episodes in a row, then play the same 6 in a row again. Why not just give us 12 different ones? And that's all I'll say about that subject...
- Hazel

August 30, 2009 - Msg 74897: Oh my, Hazel, you made me laugh out loud with that comment about slumping over in the seat and thinking it was a driverless car. You kill me (in the nicest sense):-)

So glad you hit all the high points in your talk, Asa. I'll bet it was smoother than you think it was. God bless you for being willing to teach the Body of Christ.

We had a wonderful church service today...hard to express, just one of those special services.

Ro, you were right, the woman didn't show for the meeting or leave any word. The whole family was missing from church entirely this morning. Let me tell you something..I got to sunday school this morning and it seemed like everyone I saw gave me a hug on the way to class. Then when I got to class, it was overflowing. We had to bring in extra chairs for people and there was such a love and fellowship in the class...I got lots of hugs there, too. I went out into the hall to get something and there was Jordan...one of the youth that I have known since he was a baby and he was leaning against the wall like boys do. He looked at me and stretched out his arm for me to come to him. I thought he had something to say to me, but he put his arms around be and hugged me. When i turned around, there was a young man who I had not seen in a year because he has a drug problem and has been in rehab. You should have seen him smile when he saw me. He held out his arms and gave me the biggest hug. I felt so close to everyone and felt so much love. Then in church, I was sitting in a different place than my usual seat and could see the congregation from a side view. During the singing, I could see faces and a few arms lifted in praise and I loved those people so much. I feel like they are a part of me and it is where I want to be. Nothing short of God's leading will make me leave it. Thank you for your prayers and many words of encouragement. My pastor talked to Bruce on the phone today and said he will have to follow up and he doesn't know yet exactly what measures he will take but he did say that they are causing a disunity that needs to be dealt with and he is going to do so somehow. I think this whole experience is teaching him something, as well. I feel the Lord at work and I am so thankful for my dear friends who pray. Love you all more than you know.

Think I will go to bed and spend some time thanking the Lord for this wonderful day and, to make things even better, it RAINED today! Not just a little but a real gully-washer this afternoon and you can believe me and the kids were right out in it. I was soaked and loving every minute of it!

Goodnight my wonderful Mayberry.xxx

August 31, 2009 - Msg 74899: Well, praise the Lord, and pass the kleenex. I just knew that woman wouldn't show. She has over-played her hand, and she knows it, I think. My guess is that she and her family are in the process of leaving. It sounds to me like she knew her hand was being forced, and she spent the past week talking to others about you, trying to garner support. She didn't get it, and the ones she talked to rallied behind you. Thus, the outpouring of unspoken support you felt this morning.

You have called her out, and she isn't prepared to face you. Oh, she may fire a couple of little parting shots, but they won't mean much, and then the whole family will disappear. In a few months, the grapevine will inform you that they've joined another church, and there will soon be rumblings of discord wherever she chooses to land. Meantime, you and your family have stood your ground, remained calm and faithful, and life will go on at your church. I pity the congregation she chooses to haunt next, and I pity her children, who are growing up learning that this is how Christians behave.

Asa, I'm proud of you, and of course you did well. Wish we could have heard you.

I had a long and pleasant conversation with my Florida son this evening. He called just to chat, and to alert me to a nature program that PBS is running next week. We talked for well over an hour. He sounds so good.

Do you all mean to tell me that Toye Starr actually drove everyone home last night? That little goose, she doesn't even have a license! I'll have to speak sharply to her about that. At least she hadn't been into the squeezin's, so maybe it was a good thing, but no license? I'm sure glad she didn't get caught! As her mom, I'd hate to find myself trying to explain THAT to a judge!

Well, gotta go do my P-T exercises, and then to bed. So far, I haven't noticed that the therapy is having much effect, but it's early yet.

Hazel, you are so right. I just hate when they do those 6 and 6 marathons. Oh well, at least they're still showing TAGS.

Be blessed, friends. --Romeena

August 31, 2009 - Msg 74900: Well, you were right, Ro. I'm still not so sure that she won't try again if her children want to come back, but I think Bruce, Keith and pastor are ready for her this time. I really think the best thing them would be to start fresh somewhere else. She has a very long history of making people mad and most folks just avoid her, but in the past few years I thought things had gotten better. She used to attend my sister's church and upset folks there. My sister said that if she tried to come back there and cause trouble that her pastor will set her straight in a hurry, and he would too. I think she will have to go somewhere else, entirely. I hope her husband will at least take the kids to church somewhere else. Maybe they will be forced to deal with the issues concerning their son...issues that must be dealt with or I hate to think about how things will be for him.

So glad to hear that son is doing well, Romeena. We were so concerned for him a year ago.

I know what you mean about the TAGS marathons, Hazel. It's just plain ridiculous that they can't scrounge up 12 episodes of TAGS to show! They seem to get on this kick where they like to show the same few color eps over and over when there are so many great b&w eps to show. Sometimes I really wonder what in the world goes on in the boadroom of TVLand....are they smoking weed in their planning sessions, or what?!

Better go get Erin moving. Looks like another cloudy day (yay). Only problem is that they haven't finished putting the stuff on the roof of the house that keeps water out. Not sure what its called, its not tar paper but it does go on before the shingles...some sort of paper, though. Talk to you all later!

Boo

August 31, 2009 - Msg 74901: Hoy, Morning folks. Hope your Monday is going well.

Sorry the family didn't show up Boo, but it sure sounds like your are recieving a confirmation about what to do. That's a good think.

Yes Hazel, them redoing the TAGS shows like that is odd indeed. I also dislike the trend I'm seeing where they will do a one or two night mini marathon, replaying the same eps as you mentioned, and then not showing any eps for a week or so. The programing schedule seems ludicrous to me.

Sure wish Auh2o would check in. I'm worried about that feller. And what has become of Charlotte Tucker? Ain't heard from her in quite a while.
CHECK IN YOU PEOPLE! :)

August 31, 2009 - Msg 74902: Afternoon Y'all- I'll with ya Hazel about the way TVLand is showing those episodes over & over again. Don't make good sense,is what! But.. I'll take that over "Married With Children" any time!
We had bad t-storms early this morning & I wondered how my daughter made out getting Laci to school. She phoned & told me that after making it thru the rain with Laci, she went into the bathroom adjacent to the classroom in order to dry the rain from Laci's eyeglasses. When she walked back out into the classroom, she observed Laci sitting on the floor, playing with one of those See and Say toys-while the little red headed boy stood over her feeding his Fruit Loops to her! She said "Miss Thing" was sitting there like a Queen, pulling the See and Say handle and opening her mouth in order to be fed the Fruit Loops! Ha!
Wonder where Spot is? Probably busy keeping the power on-those storms we had came from over his way,bet they had a time of it.
Well, I'd better mosey along? Do possums mosey? We'll find out!

August 31, 2009 - Msg 74903: Good Friday afternoon porch, checking in as requested by Asa. I have been busy this morning and did not have time to check by before work started. Been busy the past few days, not sure what I was doing though, seems like time justs breezes by me. Wonder what causes that!?

Boo, my husband recently started using a CPAP breating machine as well. Seems to of really helped with his snoring problem and hopefully will help with his heart arrhythmia as well. The cardiologist told us they are learning there is a big connection between sleep apena and some cardiac problems. I really don't mind the machine as his does not make much noise and is certainly much quiter than his snoring. :)

Guess I had better go back to work, I will cook dinner tonight since I have been away for a few days. Menu will be: baked pork chops, spiced apple rings, sweet potato casserole, green beans, corn on the cob, SLAW,yeast rolls. Banana pudding, chocolate cake, for dessert. Tea, coffee and lemonade to drink. diiner at 6 pm.

August 31, 2009 - Msg 74908: Yes, the possum that occasionally visits my yard does "mosey". Come to think of it, I haven't seen him in a couple of months. Hope he's okay. I know so many city-dwellers just freak out at the sight of a possum or a skunk or raccoon, or any other wild animal. Some can't even tolerate a few squirrels. I just don't get it. People like that should go live in a high-rise somewhere, where the worst thing they'd encounter would be a roach. Personally, I feel honored when a wild thing consents to visit my yard, and I do all I can to make it critter-friendly.

Right now, the "hummer wars" continue, as the little boss tries to keep the other visitor away from the feeders. There are two feeders, why he thinks he needs them both, I don't know, but he's determined. So funny! I don't know what he'll do if a third one shows up - just explode, I guess.

It's only 83 here today - a regular cold front. I'm looking at a declining fountain flow, so will probably have to clean that filter before long, and 83 sure sounds better than 101.

Well, gotta go to physical therapy. that therapist is nice, but she sure wears me out. Be blessed, friends. --Romeena

August 31, 2009 - Msg 74909: Hey again y'all- I received word from our talking dog Spot. He says this: "modem got hit by lightning... tell the Porch... gonna go get mine this afternoon."
I'm guessing lightning hit his work computer and he's going to get his laptop from home so that he can stay in touch with us when he's working. At least,I think that's what he's saying! He might still be over in Yancey for all I know! Ha!
Well, I relayed his message.Somebody else can figure it out! (Just kidding with ya,spot!)
Y'all have a good evening- love to all!

August 31, 2009 - Msg 74910: Well, been a busy day of shopping for shower hardware...talk about high priced! I went shopping for a faucet for the jet tub and at the first place I went I told them I wanted something economical...nothing high-end. They gave me a quote of 500.00...for a faucet! Then I went to Lowe's and what I was looking for was not much less. I was "gobsmacked", in the words of the Brittish. I told Bruce, "No way am I paying 500.00 for a faucet. I would rather put the garden hose through the bathroom window!". Anyway, the shopping didn't go too well. The good news is my windows are in and they look purdy, purdy.

Well, I found out today that my mom is in atrial fib (which explains why they were getting a heart rate of 35) and so I have to take her to cardiologist tomorrow AND Dad had an xray last week that showed a spot on his lung. I have to take him to the pulmonologist on Friday. This concerns me very much due to his long-time exposure to asbestos on the job in the 70's. His lungs have alot of scar tissue and you can actually see the asbestos in his lungs, so I am hoping that is what they are seeing and nothing more.

I am off to bible study at the rehab. I will check in later.

Let me tell you a little secret about the limeade...maybe I just got a bad batch, but I bought some once and nobody in the house would drink it (including me). Hope you have better luck with it.

I'm tuckered. Time to hit the old ironing board for some adventure sleeping....

September 01, 2009 - Msg 74917: Morning Maude. Morning Porch. Breakfast is nice of you seeings how you cooked dinner last night too Maude.

I can't believe you didn't like that Limeade Boo? You got something wrong with your taster? ;) I have tried most of the products from this company (Simply Orange) and really enjoy them. The orange juice they make (especially the stuff with the heavy pulp) tastes as close to fresh squeezed I have ever had out of a bottle. Gee, I sound like a walking ad for them, don't I? Anyway the Limeade is a little strong at first, but I like a little kick to it anyway. I used to drink it on ice to mellow it a little, but being the manly man I am, I drink her straight out of the bottle now. (not meaning to brag or nothing)

Glad you got some rain Boo. We might get some this weekend they say. Remnants from that hurricane off the cosat of Baja. That would be ok. As long as it doesn't get carried away.

Hey Romeena, Your cure for crotch issues we talked about a couple of weeks ago, you mentioned expose it to sun for a few minutes each day. Would that apply to athletes foot? I got some new work boots a few weeks ago and have noticed my feet get really sweaty, and now have a bad case of ATHLETES FOOT! I hate it. Will sunlight help that?

Well off to work I guess. These electrons are not gonna take care of themselves.

Boy we are starting off what cold one today.
Stepdad is doing fined.
His Doc say to uesd the oxygen at night and if he want dail and the albut4 time a day and to cut down on the smoking.

YOUR WORD
Summer sun is shining
And there is fragrance everywhere.
As lovely flowers blossom
And their perfume fills the air.
Lord, Your World is beautiful,
And I thank You everyday
For love and joy and beauty
As I go along my way.
My eyes are wide in wonderment
At all the beauty I see,
That makes all of Your constant love
Oh so real to me.

TOM

September 01, 2009 - Msg 74921: Good morning, porch! Hey, Tom, what a beautiful poem. Thank you! I'm glad your stepdad is doing better. Sounds like his doc agrees about not pushing him so hard about the smoking. Maybe your stepdad is like Ernest T. Bass - the more you're talkin', the more he's balkin'! (heehee) Actually, most of us are that way. None of the smokers in my family quit as long as people were talking to them about it, but all quit as soon as they were left alone. Just perverse human nature, I guess.

Asa, I would think that sunlight would work on athlete's foot. It's a yeast-based infection, I think, and yeast just can't abide sunshine. It's certainly worth a try. You might try Listerine soaks, too.

My pear tree, which was loaded so heavy with pears it was drooping, is now bare. I ate one pear, my grandsons each ate a couple, and the squirrels got the rest. Little rascals.

There are FOUR hummers at the feeders this morning, and the poor little boss is about to wear himself out, trying to chase them away. He chases one, and while he's doing that, another comes in, so he comes zooming back to chase that one, and the first one returns, and so it goes. Poor little guy. He needs to learn to share!

Well, my friend Fay is having the surgery for her colon cancer this morning, so I'm off to the hospital to sit with her husband. There will be a number of us there, I'm sure - they have a lot of friends. I always see occasions like this as a chance to provide silent witness, and sometimes spoken witness as well. A group of people, sitting quietly and praying often, is noticed. If you strike up a little conversation with someone else who is waiting, quite often they will ask your group to pray for their loved one, too. Of course, we do.

See you later - be blessed, friends. --Romeena

September 01, 2009 - Msg 74926: Apple cider vinegar foot soaks work good to Asa, just don't think you can use your apple jack for that. (Do you know what apple jack is?)

Prayers for Fay. . .where two or more gathered. . .

Brought the youngest one home from school with a sore throat, etc. Had to have him tested for the flu, it was negative, but the doc was sure he had it. The type A flu test is only 40-65% accurate. Go figure!

Really short nite last nite or a really long nite - depends on your point of view.

September 01, 2009 - Msg 74928: Hey to the Porch. While everybody's praying could you please remember my Mom? Today would have been my parents' 53rd wedding anniversary, but it's the 1st one my Mom is spending without my Dad, who the Lord called Home back in April. My beloveded Charlene called her last night on a different matter, and when Mom answered the phone she had been crying. I clean forgot about today being a special day for her, and one that she's missing my Dad more than normal. Thanks, friends.

I'd love to stay and chat awhile, but I got a lot to do that keeps me hopping. Just know that I think of you all often, and fondly.

I'll see ya.

September 01, 2009 - Msg 74930: Good afternoon, porch. Thanks so much for the prayers for Fay. We had that "two or more" thing covered. There were about fifteen of us at the hospital, and I know you folks were praying, too. I do believe the Lord recognizes and at times inhabits the internet, even if Al Gore did invent it. (heehee)

The reports on Fay are very good so far. They were able to do the surgery through a scope, so no huge incision. No colostomy was needed, she'll be in the hospital until Friday, and then home. Pathology reports will determine whether she needs any chemo, but the doctor said at this point he's very optimistic that she will not. In other words, he's very confident that he got all of it. Her husband said to thank you for your prayers.

Some of you may remember a while back when I asked you to pray for Roger, who had liver cancer. He carried a beeper, and whenever you prayed, you could call that beeper and punch in your zipcode, so he knew that people from everywhere were praying. Many of you did so, I know, because your zipcodes showed up, and I know that, because Fay is Roger's mother.

Rafe, my friend, prayers for you and your mom. This first year is the hardest. It will never get what you could call easy, but it will get less hard. Just continue to love and support your mom, and give her room to have surges of grief now and then, because they will come.

Now I must go and catch a nap, because I have to work tonight, I've been up since 7, and it's a long time until 7:15 in the morning, when I'll get off work. A little nap now will make all the difference. Be blessed, my friends. --Romeena

Rafe, good to see you. I sure will offer a prayer or two for your Mom. I'm sure that is very hard for her. Thanks for asking us to.

Well MDC and HM, I got lots of things to try I reckon. The only applejack I know about HM is cereal. I'm pretty sure you ain't talking cereal. :)

Maybe I'll try oregano on one foot and Apple cider vinegar on the other and see what one works best. I could be like one of them fellers who gets paid to experiment with new medicines I hear them advertizing for all the time. You know, the medical research fellers who make you a grow two heads. :)

Rafe, your poor mama. Bless her heart. My prayers for her tonight.

After taking my mama to the heart doc, he says she needs a pacemaker. I think they will be doing that next week. They did an echocardiogram on her today and said her heart is very strong. Mom has never had a heart attack, diabete or cancer and has never had major surgery in her life. She is 82 and has all the body parts she came into this world with...kind of unusual for someone her age.
