Asa, how was the chili? Ya know homemade chili is better than store bought chili every time! Chili is one of those dishes that is simple but so many people make different it different ways. That is why "chili cook-off's" are so good, ya can taste everybody's different take on it. We use to do that at work back in the "Good O'l Days". We used to do it after our annual all staff meeting. But it was kinda hard to go back to work afterwards.....lol

I've been busy working on GrandKidders Christmas presents, they all are getting Grandpa Goober made clothes racks painted in their favorite colors. I know it's not electronal or ya don't plug them in to watch, but you DO need something to hang your threads on!...lol It's been fun getting back to making things again, I've sorta been lax in that area as of late....

November 19, 2015 - Msg 103260: Well nice sweep there GF. That is way cool what you are doing for the Grandkiddies for presents. I hope to do things like that when I retire and have a little more time and energy. The chili was good, as was the corn bread. They also had some chicken and noodle dumpling soup that was dang good. I didn't go away hungry, let's just say that. (burp)

Anyone listening to Christmas music yet? I am. I enjoy the different songs and the mood it puts me in.

So y'all think I should go the Earnest T. route for my tooth? lol

Well better get moving. I am working on some unit heaters (hot water feed) 20 feet in the air today. I can reach them on my Genie lift, but I could use a ground man. How about it GF? I'll even buy lunch.

November 20, 2015 - Msg 103263: Good morning, porch! It is an absolutely gorgeous Fall day here in north Texas. At 58°, the air is crisp and cool, and the sun is shining, with bright clear blue skies. The trees have just begun to turn, so they're still mostly green, but with touches and splashes of color here and there. Funny how just one or two limbs will begin to show color, before the rest of the tree. So pretty! It's what I like to call a green-and-gold day.

I finally got the call yesterday that my new carpet has arrived, and the men will be here Tuesday morning to install it. Yay - it will be in for Thanksgiving! They could have done it today, but I had to refuse. There's still too much to do in the house to be ready for them. They will, of course, move the furniture, but they don't move little stuff, and they certainly wouldn't have cleaned out the floor of the ten-foot closet in the office! I'm still pawing through that. I've carried out four big trash bags, and three recycle bags so far. I found income tax records from 1993 through 2000. Don't think I need those anymore. I found two boxes of tax records and other stuff of my dad's. Obviously, those are no longer needed. However, I also found other boxes of pictures, letters, just "stuff" that I can't just trash. I will have to go through and see what's in them. Not now - for now I'm just moving them into my bedroom. Trust me, they cannot live there, so I'll be going through them, but not now. Then the china hutch and a big credenza in the dining room have to be emptied so they can be moved. Every flat surface - coffee table, end tables, whatever, in the three rooms must be cleared of all the "sit-around" stuff they hold.

Then there's my desk. Oh mercy, my desk! About a hundred yards of cords, cables, and lines connecting all this electronal stuff, and at least a bushel basket of junk that occupies the top of my desk. Electric stapler, tape dispenser, candles, phone, small paper shredder, two speakers, cable box/router, mouse, monitor, keyboard, paper clip holder, camera on a small tripod (for photographing critter activity out back), tissue box, bottle of lotion, and assorted junk that really has no business here. Just amazing. I'm excited about getting all this cleared, sorted and down-sized, and I think I'll be amazed at how nice it will all look. Right now, it looks like a garage sale blew up.

Well, better get busy. I've got reinforcements coming tomorrow - Dave and his family are coming, and ol' Neatnik Dave will be a lot of help, not to mention even-more-neatnik Landry. For a 14-year old kid, that boy is amazing. His room is always neat as a pin, and he loves to help. We'll whip this place into shape! All for the reward of some pork chops and gravy! Can't beat a deal like that.

Sterling, I hope changing teachers will help Kai with her algebra. I absolutely hated algebra, didn't understand it and still don't, and dropped out of college algebra before I failed it! In Kai's case, I think it would be wonderful if she could conquer it, for a lot of reasons. You mentioned a tutor, and that might be a really good idea. Keep us posted!

Blessings, porch. --Romeena

November 21, 2015 - Msg 103264: Hello everyone. Just home from work and wanted to. Heck in. Hope you are all well. We have been busy getting ready for the holiday and both the kids have colds. Hoping I don't get it cause there is still much to do. I'm off the weekend, thankfully but have my bro in law staying with us for a few days and cooking and cleaning to do.

I still have to read up on the archives. Wanted to ask your prayers for an up coming CT of the heart or heart Cath, not sure which yet.

Love to all,
Boo

November 21, 2015 - Msg 103265: Romeena, Kai wouldn't be changing teachers, sorry if I didn't make that clear enough. She would have the same teacher(I think) but the class just doesn't go through things as quickly.

I did go talk to the guidance counselor Thursday. She was very helpful and went out of her way to find the algebra teacher(who was between classes) as well as one of the teacher helpers. We had a nice discussion, and I learned that, except for algebra, Kai was a straight-A student. The counselor praised me for doing a good job with Kai's homeschooling last year. Though I think that had to do more with her previous instruction at the Christian school than with me, since I wasn't the best teacher, having to contend with Noah as well, and since it was mostly computer based, I wasn't very "hands-on" with it.

After all was said and done, we decided that Kai should stay in her present class for now and see how it goes(Kai wasn't too happy with that decision at first when I told her), now that the teacher and helpers know Kai may need a little more intervention in the class and more thorough explanations. I reminded Kai that the other class was still an option. And the teacher and counselor did say that plenty of students were helped by going into that other class.
One of the reasons they suggested that Kai stay in her present class was, because she is a nearly straight-A student, putting her in the slower class may inhibit, possibly, her admission to a good college(Even though one of the colleges they mentioned, UW-Madision, isn't what I would consider a good college. Besides being quite left-wing, it is also in the top 10 list of "Best party colleges in the U.S.)

So, we will see how it goes. Thanks for the continued prayers.

Boo, I pray that God will give you a good result on your heart procedure, and that He will keep your nerves in check before, during, and after it, regardless of the results.

November 21, 2015 - Msg 103266: Good morning all. Saturday morning at that.

Boo, for sure I will add you to my prayer list for your heart tests. Try not to fret.

Sterling, you mention college and left wing in the same sentence. You are being a bit redundant, aren't you? LOL It always amazes me that the left is always making a big deal about the money made by CEO's and other private business owners as being obscene and immoral, but somehow the huge salaries made by college professors are exempt. It has driven the cost of higher education out of sight, but no one wants to say anything about that. Double standard in my book.

Well better get going. Saturday morning at 6 a.m. finds me in the local grocery store. I try to avoid crowds. Then come home and put it all away and do some chores in and around the house. I might just have to make some spaghetti for dinner tonight.

Y'all have a nice day and a good weekend.

November 21, 2015 - Msg 103268: Good morning, porch! Another beautiful day here, temps in the low 60s, brisk wind blowing. the leaves are dancing around on my lawn now, and falling in little flurries when a wind gust move through the trees. I love this time of year.

Sterling, I went back and read what you wrote about the algebra classes, because I suspected it was my mistake, and sure enough, you made it quite clear that the same teacher taught both classes. Guess I wasn't fully awake! I think the decision to keep Kai in her present class is a good one. As sensitive as she is, it is possible that she would be a bit demoralized by going into the "slower" class. You know how kids can be, and I would bet there's some comments by the other kids, regarding that class. The fact that it's the same teacher is a big plus. She's aware of the situation, and can quietly give Kai a little extra help, without making her feel singled out. Good decision!

School is tough. We don't all share the same interests and talents. Some people are math whizzes, but can't spell worth squat. Some are interested in history, some find it boring and hard. Some people are articulate, and good spellers, but have trouble adding a simple column of figures. Then some, like me, have a good grasp of simple math, can add and subtract several numbers in their head, but algebra is a great unknown, never to be understood. I'm just grateful I didn't need it in nursing school. There were a few simple equations that are needed, for figuring drip rates and such, but once I mastered them, the rest of it was just a blur. Actually, today's nurses don't even need that much. We have standardized tubing and drip factors, and pumps that do all the math for us now. Thank heaven!

Asa, you sound like me. I hate shopping when the store is crowded. The only thing I hate more is getting up before the chickens, to get to the store at the crack of dawn. Usually, I end up with the crowds, vowing never to do it again, but I do. I compromise by doing most of my holiday food shopping a week or so ahead of time. I buy the things that the stores typically run out of, and anything that isn't perishable at that time. Then, a day or two before the big meal, I return to the store for just those few items that need to be very fresh, and I go early to beat the crowd. Works out pretty well.

Boo, I'm praying for a great outcome on your cardiac tests. Whatever they're checking for, I'm glad you're being proactive and getting it done.

Well, better get busy. I'm still buried in trying to strip these three rooms down to bare furniture, as the carpet people are coming on Tuesday. Blessings, friends. --Romeena

November 21, 2015 - Msg 103269: Oh!!! Guess what? I found another treasure. The reason this "clearing out" is taking so long, is that I have to go through so much of it to avoid throwing away something valuable without realizing it. Well, it happened again. I found something I've been searching for, for about ten years.

Back in the 80s and early 90s, my church presented a Christmas pageant every year. It was very elaborate, professional-quality, thanks to our talented and creative and unquenchable music minister. It was almost two hours long, we presented six packed-house performances, and we did it for about twelve years. It was known all over the area, and for two of those years, the local Fox channel televised it.

It presented the life of Christ, culminating with the crucifixion, resurrection, and ascension. Yes, he really rose up out of sight, as the choir of angels sang a welcome. Of course, it began with the birth, and that part was very dramatic. The entry of the Kings was spectacular, with them moving in procession down the aisles of the church (or for two years, the aisles of the local dramatic theater). The music was just beautiful. For nine of the twelve years, my beloved husband was one of the three kings, robed in red velvet and a gold lamé train, jewels everywhere, a velvet canopy over his head, carried by young girls, another girl swinging a censor of burning incense, and another following, carrying a large lump of gold on a pillow. He was an impressive sight, at 6'4", wide shoulders, wavy black and silver hair and so handsome it should have been illegal. All three kings were impressive, but he was spectacular.

When he died, and we had the memorial service at the church, the choir was present, and sang a couple of his favorite hymns, chosen by me. Then, at the very end of the service, to my surprise and heart-broken joy, they sang "That Night", the anthem most often sung during the entry of the kings in the pageant. Everyone present knew why that was sung, and I just fell apart.

A couple of weeks later, I received a sweet letter from our retired pastor, who had co-officiated with the current pastor at the service. In it, he included a poem he wrote, entitled "No Lesser King." It recalled in poetic terms, the days Dale had spent as a "king" in the pageant, and reminded that he is now a king indeed. The scriptures say so.

I want to include that poem in the little book I'm writing, but would you believe - I couldn't find it. I've searched this house, and could not find it, just like the Bible I had lost. Well, in a little box that was pulled from the floor of that miserable closet in this room I'm in, I found a large envelope with Kinko's logo on it. You remember them - the "make a copy" people. I opened it, and there were about ten copies of the poem! I still don't know where the original is, but I now have the poem itself, and that's what matters most. I've also copied it into the computer, as an added precaution.

I can't help wondering if God had a hand in that water leak that precipitated all this flurry of "cleaning out", which has led to me finding at least four things that I've been searching for, and am really, really glad to have found.

Well, this is much too long. Blessings, everyone! --Romeena

November 21, 2015 - Msg 103270: Wow Romeena What a treasure!... Yep, sometimes God does need us to "clean house" for our own good!... I TRUELY believe he does put people and situations yes and even "things" in our paths in times of need.

I had a similar situation, I came across our old family 8mm home movies, after years of procrastination, I put them all on a larger reel and made a VHS copy of them. I had my Mom narrative them too. She did this with me before she passed away. It was so much fun, I dubbed "Yanni" music and her narrative into it as we watched it. It was funny as she was trying to recall who was who and where and what things were from.

The first Christmas after she passed, was a pretty sad Christmas, so I made everyone copies for presents and we all sat down and watched it on Christmas Day.... I have to say the sadness melted away as we all watched OUR memories, and how special it was for Mom to have narrated it to boot!... One of the best Christmas's EVER!....

Thanks Romeena for the memory blast!... See... Just what I was saying about things being put in our paths..

Well we are suppose to get our "first" snow for the year, so I'm thinkin'..... "stuffed green pepper soup" ...What ya think Asa? You in? You can have some of it tomorrow since today you'll be FULL of spaghetti.....🍝......lol

About 30 years ago i worked for 10 years in the ad dept of a local grocery chain. Our offices were next to the cashier training area, and boy, those cashiers back then sure had to know their math! If a customer came to the register with one item marked 9 for a dollar, the cashier had to know on the spot how to convert that, and then punch it into the register. They were also taught customer service to the enth degree, and had to be neat as a tack in appearance too!
Now a days i seem to end up with a tattooed covered nitwit who scans, chews on gum, and talks constantly to the equally tatooed bagger! Haha OK well, I used to live in "another world." I hear that international phone service is in operation.
Well, Good Sabbath!

November 22, 2015 - Msg 103274: Good Sabbath all.

Well GF, the strangest thing happened on the way to the grocery store yesterday. It was a cold morning and I was overcome with a desire for chili instead of spaghetti. So I got the fixins for chili instead. I have to say, I have the chili thing down pretty darn fine. I don't have a clue if anyone else likes it. But I sure do. My wife said it was good, maybe just a bit spicy. That is odd because I don't care for real spicy food at all. But I have plenty so I will bag some for the freezer. How did your soup turn out?

Wonderful story about your Dale Romeena. And yes, I agree, usually you can find some good that comes out of any bad situation, if you look for it. I am glad you found that poem and now have it.

Sorry you were ailing MDC. Maybe you had a touch of the pip. Glad it didn't hang around to long. Your mention of the cashier reminded me of something that happened last week. I rarely go to McDonalds. But last week I was in a hurry and hungry and was headed back to the shop after a parts run. And there was a McDonalds right on the way so I pulled in to the drive thru. I was greeted by a pleasant voice at the order intercom. When I pulled up to the window I was met with a smile and kindness by the same gal. So I mentioned to her how much I appreciated her pleasant manner and how unusual it was. She blushed a little and smiled and said thank you. Usually I am greeted by some one who could seem to care less if I was there or not. That's one thing I have never been able to figure out. A company like that spends hundreds of thousands on advertising to lure you in to their business, and then seem to spend zero time in training those they hire in simple customer service. In-N-out burger joints seem to get it. Everyone of those I have ever gone to, I have been greeted with cheerful and pleasant employees. That makes a huge difference to me.

Well better go get ready for preachin.

Prayers for all.

November 23, 2015 - Msg 103279: Good Monday morning all.
A short work week (I hope).

Yessir GF, That is one advantage of being the cook. I can change on a whim, even if I have fresh underwear on. And I think this change has taught me something important. About a month ago I tried my first real attempt at making chili, and was quite impressed with myself. I enjoyed a bowl each night for 3 or 4 nights in a row. Well shortly after that I had a gout flare in my right knee that put me on crutches for 2 days. The worst one I have had in some time. Well I had a bowl of chili Saturday night, and yesterday I woke up with some pain in my left foot. As the day progressed, so did the pain. So last night I took a dose of gout medicine and this morning it is still sore, but manageable. I have been trying to hone in on what it is that causes me these flares. I have found that it seems to be quite different for a lot of people. For some red meat, for others it is oatmeal, for still others shellfish. This got me wondering about what is in chili that could be doing it. Alas, I am thinking it might be the beans. Legumes are listed as a possible trigger food for gout. Having had just one bowl and the next day suffering a mild flare as opposed to having several bowls a month ago and suffering a major flare. This is a mixed emotion thing I guess, because I love chili, and I hate to forgo it, but I have been driving myself crazy trying to figure out what triggers mine. And I will gladly walk away from it if it will end the gout flares. So I am going to wait a few days, and have another big bowl of chili and see what happens. If it results in another mild flare, I think a major problem in my diet will be solved. I went through much this same process in figuring I was sensitive to corn starch a few years ago.

Yea MDC, Your team likes to keep it interesting to say the least. Good luck with the fence. Just don't ask Newton Monroe to dig your post holes.

GF, Do you do regular P.M.'s on your "Wheeler"? lol I ask that because I have been watching some "Frasier" episodes as of late, and one was Martin, oiling up the mechanics of his recliner. Another one had him using some duct tape to repair some fresh tears in it. Funny stuff indeed.

Well off to a staff meeting in Salt Lake today. Then home and over to Stacey and Matt's house to celebrate my Grandson Cache's birthday. Hard to believe he is turning 6. Time just moves right along.

Prayers for all.

Asa

November 23, 2015 - Msg 103280: Good morning, porch! Good grief, Asa, I can't believe that boy is turning 6 already! Seems like just a couple of years ago that you were telling us about his birth. Give him a birthday hug for all his porch aunts and uncles.

As for your chili, if it turns out that the beans in it are the cause of a gout flare, consider making it without the beans. Chili can be really, really good without beans. In fact, in some parts of Texas, you could get run out of town for putting beans in chili! Personally, I like them, but there are those who won't hear of it. Just a thought - I hate to think of you having to give up chili entirely, when you obviously enjoy it.

Well, gotta get moving. I've cleaned off the tops of everything in the den, except the table by my chair. The office is almost cleaned out, just a couple of little piles of stuff on the floor. Still have to empty the china hutch, which is going to be a big job. It's a big hutch, and it's full. There's a double credenza, and it's full. (I inherited all my mom's china, in addition to a full collection of my own.) My desktop and a credenza in here are still loaded, but I'm going to just sweep everything off into boxes, and sort the stuff out as I put it back when all is finished. The carpet men will be here tomorrow morning, so I don't have much time to get this all done. I have two home health calls to make this morning, naturally! No getting out of it either, so off I go. Eloise is coming over this afternoon to help, and maybe Dave and Brittney. I'll appreciate the help, but I'm not cooking pork chops again! I'll buy them all a Sonic burger instead!

Dave and the boys got my Christmas roof lights up on Saturday, so that's done. Still got to hang the icicle lights, and I have to put out the twinkles in the shrubbery, but that can all happen after Thanksgiving. This is going to be a busy, busy week. This morning I asked God to give me strength, stamina and patience! I'm going to need all three. Blessings! --Romeena

November 23, 2015 - Msg 103281: Asa, I think Romeena may be right about beans being your "triggers" would hate to see you give up on one of your favorites. You need to try stuffed green pepper soup it's good too, and easy to make, I tried a "dollop of Daisy" sour cream in my bowl. It mellowed it right out, green peppers don't always agree with me so a dollop helps. Good stuff Maynard...as the commercial would say...

MDC, your birds played a good game, never cared much for the Cincy Boys... NASCAR race was good too, nice to see the fans send off Jeff Gordon so respectfully. Mot much of a Kyle Bush fan, but it was nice to see him win the title with what he had to go thru after getting injured in the first race, good comeback I must say....

Cold here today....SOUP!.....

G-F 🍲

November 23, 2015 - Msg 103282: G-F, you're right about the "dollop of Daisy" mellowing spicy foods. If you get hold of a bite of a pepper that's too hot, or some salsa that's hotter than you expected, a little bit of anything dairy will kill the burn. Drinking water or tea or whatever just mostly spreads it around, but a bit of dairy will neutralize it. That's a well-known fact to us old Texas pepper-bellies. I love my peppers, and can eat a jalapeño like a pickle, but once in a while, I get something that's too hot even for me, and a bite of sour cream kills it. For those who drink milk, that works too, but I don't drink milk. At least not sweet milk. I love buttermilk, and drink it often, but sweet milk is one of the very, very few food items I don't like. I like cream, and will eat cold cereal, but I have to have half and half on it, not plain milk. I'm pretty sure it's all in my mind, but that's the way it is.

Just got home from home health calls, guess I'd better have a little lunch and then get busy. The carpet men will be here in the morning!! --Romeena

November 23, 2015 - Msg 103283: Good Monday porch, hope all is well today. its a bit cold on my end or the porch, 35 degrees and sunny but windy.
Beth and I along with Mr. Maude managed to get our tree up this week end. most of the other decorations are up as well. I typically like to wait until after Thanksgiving but with Mr. Maude's work schedule and hunting trip planned the first week in December we have to work around that. Its just too much for us girls to do alone. we are both vertically challenged ... ( I am bout 5 foot tall and Beth is about 5'3) so we need help. Glad its up and good to go we we can enjoy the lights longer.

I am going to work today and tomorrow and then take off the rest of the week. Patrick will be home sometime Wednesday from school so looking forward to seeing him and of course Daysie will be around as well. always glad to have her join us.

Speaking of chili, I am thinking about making a crock pot full on Saturday or maybe Sunday. maybe by that time we will be sick of Turkey and ham.
I generally make a big pot with light red kidney beans and a smaller pot without beans. Beth does not like the texture of the beans for some reason.
so chili and mexican cornbread will be on the menu for Sunday.

Better get back to work. just wanted to say howdy.
Supper menu will be: beef stew, cornbread. chocolate layer cake for dessert.

prayers and blessings to all

November 23, 2015 - Msg 103284: Good friends are a blessing from God. Eloise knew I was in over my head, trying to get all the stuff cleared for the carpet laying crew tomorrow. The hutch and credenza in the dining room would have taken me two days to unload alone! She sat down on the floor in front of them, and pulled dishes out and sat them on the table next to her, and I ferried them from there to the kitchen table and benches, which are pushed back against the wall in the kitchen. It took us two hours, wore us both out, but it's done. All that remains is the table beside my chair (I need my lamp) and my desk. Early in the morning, I'll shove everything off this desk into a box and that will be that. Then all the electronal stuff has to be disconnected, but that's easy. Putting it all back together, correctly - that will be the hard part! I will be glad when this is finished. Right now I'm so tired I'm about to fall asleep on my keyboard.

Blessings, friends! --Romeena

Romeena, mark adhesive tape at both ends of your cables and to the connectors on the equipment to make it easier to reconnect them. You don't have to use long descriptive names. Single digit numbers would be fine.

Romeena, I need to add that you should place and mark the adhesive tape before you disconnect anything.

as the gout culprit, I'd have to think about that one! lol Also, the underwear comment was funny. In that ep, Miss Peggy's smile at that line is precious!
Message 103287--thanks for the info!
ROMEENA--good luck with it all. If we dont hear from you for a couple days, we will know why.
BTW__ I got a letter from pappabear today! All is as well as can be for him; so that was good to hear.
His address is still good.
MAUDE-thanks for checking in. Hey maybe you could try some turkey chili! :)
PH--good idea to RO on labeling the cables. I was going to suggest a photo of the set up, but labels make more sense.
Prayers continue,

November 23, 2015 - Msg 103290: Thanks, PH. Great minds run in the same channels, I guess. I have already started marking the cables. I had a box of the old tractor-feed mailing labels, and used them. What I'm hoping to do is not disconnect anything from the computer. If I disconnect all cables from their respective devices, and let the other end remain with the computer, it should work. The PC itself resides in the space beneath the printer, in the printer stand, which is on wheels. Once everything is disconnected, I should be able to just coil the cables and tuck them into the cabinet, and roll it from the room. (Crossing fingers.) Cables that pass through from one device to another, such as the router, are duly marked. Some of it is fool-proof, such as phone lines, and a lot of the connections are color-coded by the manufacturer, but not everything is. So, I just marked it all, to be sure. Also, there are several devices that aren't computer-related, and will just be unplugged, such as the electric stapler and the little desk-top shredder. Both of them have power cords that disconnect from the device, and both do come out fairly easily, and they look remarkably alike. If they get pulled free of their home, I'll know which one belongs to which. Actually, my 12 year old grandson could probably put the whole thing together in a snap, sans markers, but I'm taking no chances.

Right now, all the cables come together in a big wad, that looks like a mating ball of sea snakes, and the whole thing is piled in a big plastic waste basket behind the printer stand. I'm hoping to have a chance to wipe all the dust and lint off of everything, coil the excess lengths of cable, and organize it somewhat when putting it back together. That hasn't been done in several years. No telling what I'll find in that trash can. Perhaps Amelia Earhart, or maybe Jimmy Hoffa. Scary thought, but it's got to be done.

Well, it's just 10:45, very early for me, but I think I'll hit the hay. I need to get up very early in the morning, to finish getting things in order before the carpet people arrive, which is supposed to be between 9 and 11. I guess we'll see.

Oh - Headquarters? Would that be 8:00p.m. or a.m.? I'm thinking p.m.

I cannot imagine combining those two stories, seamlessly or otherwise. Should be interesting. Thanks for the news flash! --Romeena

November 23, 2015 - Msg 103291: Hey, MDC. The photo isn't a bad idea, just for added insur@nce. Quick snap of the back of the PC with the phone camera should do it. Thanks! --Romeena

November 24, 2015 - Msg 103292: Haha! Romeena, your description of your cables sounds like what it looks like behind my tv... and my computer... and....
Makes a guy want to go totally wireless.

Forgot to mention that I got rid of at least some of my cables behind the tv. Yep, finally got rid of the cable box and am watching strictly off of the antenna(s) and Roku.
When I canceled the cable tv, the rep said my internet charges would be going up about $10. I told him when I had asked about it before, another rep told me that it wouldn't change from what I pay now. He said that that was probably before they started the new internet speed packages.
I told him that I was happy with the internet speeds I have now and have never had any trouble with it. He said I couldn't stay with that speed for some reason or other, but he did play up that he was going to send me a new modem for the new speeds free of charge, and I wouldn't ever have to pay fees for it or anything.

Seems to me like if they are upping my internet charges by $10 a month, then I am probably paying for that modem.

But anyway, I can't complain too much. My bill is going from about $137 a month to about $63 so that is a plus.

I have to thank the Lord and thank you all for your prayers regarding Kai. She is in a better mood this week. Of course, some of that may be due to the fact that she only has 3 days of school this week.
But along with that, she seems to be feeling a little more relaxed about the algebra thing. I think talking with her teacher really helped. Kai told me today that she asked the teacher about a algebra problem she was having trouble with, and then later she
told me that some days she may be late getting out of school, because she might be going over problems with the teacher, which is what the teacher told me she could do since she stays there until about 4:30 after school. Heartened to see Kai taking advantage of that.

Along with that, Kai only got 2 wrong on that Algebra quiz she took last week that she was so worried she was going to fail.

Gee, if things keep going along like this, Kai might even start liking math. Maybe even becoming a mathematician.
Ok, maybe I am getting a little ahead of things there, but at least it is a positive step.

Good to see you, Poor Horatio.

November 24, 2015 - Msg 103293: Sorry on the News flash thing, those episode will be shown at 8:00 p.m. Floyd broke the news last night on his pod-cast show. You know Goob doesn't like change much, but I think it would be a treat to see those two episodes colorized. As Floyd said, if ya don't like it just turn off the color on you're TV.

Yep, Romeena PH's advice is good, any old numbers of the alphabet will do...lol ...G-F

What a nice thing to say Possum, and I agree. Y'all are on the top of my thankful list. I hope your have a dandy one Possum

Boo, you got the quote right. Good job. And prayers for your procedure to go ok next week. As Ro said, I am glad you are being pro-active about it.

GF, I am going to Stacey and Matt's for dinner tomorrow. Turkey is on the menu, but it is an afterthought. Matt cooks up prime rib, and that boy knows his business for sure. Mercy sakes, I have lost some pounds the last couple of months, but I suspect that will change tomorrow.

I hope Romeena got her carpet job done ok and gets all her wires hooked back correctly.

And Amen MDC. Amen!

November 25, 2015 - Msg 103303: Man Asa that prime rib stuff is eatin' high on the cow! Does it come with some of that au jus stuff too?
I haven't had "prime rib" since "Diamond Jim's" moved into town.... If I recall it tasted like that cow had been driven hard and had done a lot of mooing in its day....lol

I made my stuffing/dressing today so the flavors can all cohabitate together....

Every one have a nice Thanksgiving tomorrow

Oh, I had a "Mayberry Moment" today- I had Thanksgiving dinner with my mama at the Assisted Living Facility where she resides.Well, when I sat down in my chair and pulled it up to the table, the wooden arm on one side came off. I commented that it must have come from Weaver's Dept. Store-Ha!

Not sure if anybody got the joke, but it was funny to me!

Y'all have a good evening!
