July 31, 2017 - Msg 107927: Good Morning Porch!

I got behind so I've spent the last few minutes reading the archives but need to get back to work. But here's my few thoughts.

Happy Birthday to Possum and Boo! I wanna go to the Gigilo Club! Don't forget me.

John Masters- Ew...I'm beyond thankful to Mr. Carrier for building the air conditioner. I know y'all have had a hot summer.

G-F- Rise Up! Go Falcons!

MDC- I hope PT and acupuncture are successful. I had acupuncture when I had severe morning sickness and it did help. My husband studied it and he's born again.

Spot- it's going to be dry for a few days around here. Maybe y'all will get some relief for awhile.

Hey to Romeena, Tom, and anyone else I missed. Sorry to rock and dash. Y'all have a very blessed day!

I may have been mis-diagnosed regarding the lymphedema. My cardiologist now thinks it is fluid retention due to my weakening heart and mitral valve! I am now on a strong diuretic.
Please keep up your prayers for ol' MDC. Thanks.

August 02, 2017 - Msg 107939: Hi all, well, the saga continues...it seems my lymphedema was a misdiagnosis! After 6 weeks of PT, there was no improvement at all, and sudenly my privates swelled up to softball size in 3 days! So I called my nephew who is a surgeon in Seattle, and after seeing in an email my latest echocardiogram, he said that it is my weakening afib heart that is causing the fluid build up.
He told me to get to a hospital asap and they can give an IV strong diuretic! So here i am tonight with two doses aleady in me, and am feeling so much better already. He was a real lifesaver, a beautiful Christian, and so full of knowledge.
Hopefully this fluid will finally start coming out. I have been "going" about every 15 minutes! Yes! :) I was really starting to despair, and God has come thru! Thanks again for listening, and for all your prayers!
Love you all,

August 02, 2017 - Msg 107940: Good morning all.
Wow MDC. I am so happy to read that you are improving. Prayers for continued healing my friend.

Well today they are having a huge funeral service for the 2 couples killed in the plane crash last week. I was reading their obituaries this morning and can only say I wish I had known them. All 4 were very strong in their faith and their love for the Lord and their families. They will be missed by those who knew them no doubt.

A crooked walking Possum. Just when you thought you had seen everything. :O)

Our family Doctor referred my Wife to a Pallitive care clinic at the local Hospital and we met with them yesterday. We were both very impressed with the Doctor. She is a young gal, but has a beautiful spirit about her, and seems very much interested in our desires in treatment. Very refreshing.

Well off to work. Seems like it has been just go, go, go, this summer.

August 02, 2017 - Msg 107941: Goooood morning, porch! I'm home. Have been down in the hill country since Friday. My oldest grandson, Gary (Robbi's oldest son) was married about a couple of weeks ago in Chicago. It was a very small, private chapel wedding, with just the bride's immediate family and Gary's mom and dad present. They had a little honeymoon, then came down here and had a reception for Gary's family. It was so nice, held at the Holiday Inn Express where Gary was assistant manager for a while, so the Inn really tried hard for him. That was on Saturday night, and on Sunday we moved to Marble Falls, where Robbi and Richard have a wonderful place. Richard has leased two "patio slips" on the lake. I had never seen anything like that before.

Most boat docks just provide the slips where you tie up your boat, with a little walkway that leads past all the slips. This thing is almost a quarter-mile long and offers a "patio" that's about 15x20' at the head of each slip, and a 4' walkway between each slip. Ladders at the end of the walkways. Richard has two slips, adjacent of course, so he has loads of room for picnics and gatherings. We had about 15 people out there Sunday and Monday, and no one felt crowded. There are tables, chairs, sofas, two fridges, two grills, standing pantries, rugs on the floor, anything you need to be comfortable. It's all covered and well-lighted, of course, and the view from the patio side out across the lake is just gorgeous. He has a beautiful boat in one slip, wish an air-conditioned cabin that sleeps two, or four if you're all family, I guess. Anyway, it's nice. In the other slip he has four sea-doos, and the kids had a wonderful time on them. Well, actually everyone did, including me. I'm no stranger to a sea-doo, and I think it sort of surprised some of the folks when I hopped on one, backed it out of the slip and rode it for about fifteen minutes, then came in and drove it right up on its ramp, stopped where it should, shut it down and got off. (Surprised me a little, too, but I was pretty sure I could do it. I had some experience on them in Florida at my son's home on the lake.) Anyway, it sure was fun. When I've ridden them before, I've been up to 55 at times, but on very smooth water. The lake was a bit choppy, so I didn't open it up, didn't go over 22, wasn't sure the re-build in my lower back would stand up to the wave-hopping. It can slam you up and down pretty hard. Still, it was a lot of fun.

We stayed in a LaQuinta that was about five minutes from the lake. (They take pets, and of course we had Diesel and Toye Starr with us.) Hudson stayed at the lake with Robbi and Richard, and slept on the boat. That kid fished the whole time! He caught at least twenty fish, kept them in a big basket thing that stays in the water, and when we left, he let them all go. The big thrill came when he started yelling for help from about thirty yards down the walkway from our area. He had a fish he was afraid would break the line, so someone went to him with a net, and that kid hauled in a carp that was easily twenty pounds. He was so excited he could hardly breathe! That one, he released immediately, since no way would we have eaten it. He was trying to catch enough for a fish fry, but it never happened, so we just let them all go. Happy boy, happier fish!

Well, this grows too long. More later. Right now, I've got to call the newspaper office who did not honor my request for a vacation hold and deliver, and also Monitronics for help with my alarm system which is yelping about a low battery and I can't make it stop, nor do I have the special battery the thing requires. We've been around this before, and I'm thinking about changing providers, going back to ADT. Blessings, porch! --Romeena

August 02, 2017 - Msg 107942: Good Mornin' Porch Friends!
Whenever I type that I automatically think of the song from Oklahoma. It's a good one. Not much going on this end of the porch. Just busy working and cooking when I get home, although the meals are more quick and easy than my family is used to. Just like Helen, us working ladies sometimes needs to depend on a tv dinner.

I hope Possum and Boo had great birthday!

MDC- What a blessing to have a nephew that knew what to tell you! I am glad that you are getting some care. I will continue to pray.

Asa - Finding a good doctor is so important!

Romeena - Congratulations to your grandson and his bride! It sounds like a fun time! I love water sports.

Billy Ray - Good to "see" you!

John - I hope things are calming down around your house.

Hey to G-F and anyone I missed. Gotta get back to work. Y'all have a great day!

August 02, 2017 - Msg 107943: Good morning again, porch. Just a few more things to catch up on, but my first entry was getting so long.

MDC, fluid retention makes so much more sense to me, based on the descriptions you've given. Lymphedema and common fluid retention are related, but still two different things. Lymphedema, especially if it's of long-standing, tends to be firm, somewhat "pebbly" and is extremely difficult to reduce, sometimes impossible, especially when it's in the lower extremities. It sometimes occurs in a woman's arm after a mastectomy, especially with the old radical procedures, and is usually soft, not pebbly, but still very hard to reduce. Plain edema - retained fluid - is softer, indents to pressure, and responds well to a diuretic, in any location. It's usually found in dependent areas, such as feet and legs. I'll bet Boo would agree. Sure sounds to me like that's what you have. I hope so, because it's do-able!

You should see Toye Starr. I had her groomed before we left to go down south, and she looks adorable. I let them cut her hair, so for the first time, she doesn't have the typical Maltese long hair. Hers was pretty straggly anyway, not lush and full, but still wore both of us out keeping it combed and mat-free. Anyway, it's about three inches long now, and she seems to love it, but here's the fun part. I let them color her topknot and her ears- PINK! Heather said it was her punk rocker look! She looks absolutely adorable, hilarious, and I think I'm going to keep doing it. I know I'm going to keep her hair cut like it is. No more battles and dramatic reactions from her when I'm combing her out. Furthermore, I may let them color her tail next time as well. She still has her long tail plume, which she carries up over her back. I think she will be so cute! She just struts around like a little diva, and everybody wants to pet her.

Now, add to that look - a tiny pink life jacket when we were on the lake, and she was a sight for sure. I made her wear that jacket the whole time we were on the slip patio, because I'm not sure she could swim. Sugarplum wasn't a good swimmer, because her little feet didn't displace enough water to give her any lift or propulsion, and Toye Starr's are even smaller. Her little footprints are so tiny I can completely cover one with my thumb. So, she wore her little pink jacket the whole time, just in case she would fall in. Of course, if she did, there would be about nine people in the water immediately to rescue her, but I was taking no chances.

Well, better get dressed. I'm switching alarm systems, going back to ADT. Monitronics basically kidnapped me from ADT three years ago, and I've just been waiting for their contract to expire. It did, and I'm going back to ADT. Monitronics did an acceptable job, but I just resented the way they made the change, and they cost more than ADT, too. So, I'm changing back.

Have a wonderful day, everyone. --Romeena

Thanks for the comment on my edema. 6 weeks of wrong diagnosis does not make me a happy camper, but i am hopefully now going to get better.

August 04, 2017 - Msg 107946: Wow, very slow day on the porch! I hope everyone is OK. We had a tremendous storm here this evening, actually THREE thunderstorms converged over the Phx area at once...dust, rain hail, winds, etc! SPOT--we need your crews, many lines down, trees down, etc! I'm still in the hospital, but my wife said that we
probably got about two inches at our house!
My edema continues to improve. I sure hope this does the trick, plus I will be getting with my cardiologist about a new plan of action for my weakening heart.
BOO--I love your recent FB posts of your wonderful GRASS!! Very cool.
GUYS, my Cards looked pretty good tonight, but no regulars stasrted, just guys looking for a roster spot. D-Backs beat the Cubbies too.
Well, I am going to turn in.

August 04, 2017 - Msg 107947: Good Friday morning all, well at least to you MDC. Looks like they changed the meeting place and didn't tell us. I didn't realize you were still in the hospital. I am glad that things are improving and shrinking. :) Thank you for the prayers for my Wife. It has been a rough couple of months for her for sure, and she is more than ready to graduate. I am glad she is at peace, but it is still hard to go through. But that's life, right? I heard about your dust storm. Glad you got some rain. We are supposed to get some over the weekend. I just hope it doesn't go nuts on us like it can do sometimes. Anyway, you get better. That's an order!

Where are you GF? I hope all is well. I watched some of the game last night from your neck of the woods. I was surprised to see two NFC teams playing though. I always thought it was AFC vs NFC in the HOF game. Times are changing I reckon.

So last night I was watching the episode where Andy is telling the story of Romeo and Juliet to Opie and Aunt Bea. I noticed something I have never seen before. Andy had developed quite a sweaty forehead in that scene. It's hard to really notice it in the black and white, but if you look close you can see he was really sweating, or should I say perspiring. Either way, he had a wet forehead.

Well off to work I go. Ain't gonna be long I and I will be getting some work orders to start prepping things for winter. Yuck!

August 04, 2017 - Msg 107948: Good Morning Porch!
I've been to work for 2.5 hours and I'm already to go home again. Ha! I ran out of my gastritis medication 2 days ago and my doctor won't call more in until I go in to see her but there isn't a late afternoon appointment until next week. I hate to take off but I may have to use some of my PTO.

I was just listening to Apple Music Christmas station (I realize it's August but it calms me) and heard Jim Nabors song. I completely forgot about his velvety voice!

Asa- I've noticed Andy's sweat as well on that episode! It is hard to go through. It's hard on those of us on Earth that they leave when they get to go to heaven.

MDC- I hope your new plan is a good one! Yay for reduced swelling! And rain!

Romeena- Toye Starr's little jacket sounds so adorable!

It's going to be a tad cooler the next 10 years. No 90's in August is quite cool for us. I'm excited! Y'all have a great rest of your day!

August 04, 2017 - Msg 107949: Good morning, porch! It's beautiful here today, after a good rain on Wednesday and Thursday. Eddie is coming to mow the yard, and I hope he brings his hay baler. Honestly, I can almost hear that grass growing after all that rain. I can water until the cows come home, and it keeps the grass alive and green, but after a rain, it grows at least an inch a day. Eddie will have two choices. He can mow it twice - once with the blade set very high and without a catcher, just mulching it, and then again with it set at the normal height, or he can mow it once and catch it. If he does that, he'll have to stop about every two minutes to empty the catcher, and will have about ten bags of grass when he's finished. Folks, that stuff is thick and healthy, and LONG!

Asa, my prayers are with you and your dear wife at this very difficult time in your journey. I'm so glad that God is there with you, and you have His help and support. I do so admire your spirit, your attitude, and your faithfulness, both to your wife and to God. You're definitely one of the good guys.

Lucy, it's nice to see you. Yes, Miz Thang was pretty cute in her little jacket, with her pink ears and topknot. Anytime I carried her past people, a little ripple of laughter followed us. I'm so glad I let the groomer cut all that long hair off. I really hesitated, because a Maltese is supposed to have that long, flowing hair, but it is such a hard job to keep clean and mat-free, and it's hard on her. All I have to do is pick up her comb, and she crouches down and looks pitiful. Now all I have to do is comb through her 3-inch coat, which is so easy, and put her little topknot up now and then, and she's done. Takes about ten minutes, compared to more than an hour before. She's a happy puppy, and I'm pretty happy too! Now I can just spend time loving on her and playing with her, instead of making her endure a long grooming session. And, she looks so CUTE!

Well, better get busy. Eddie will be here shortly to mow, and I've got errands to run. Blessings, friends. --Romeena

August 04, 2017 - Msg 107950: Thanks Lucy and Romeena. It is such a blessing to be able to come here ad receive the support y'all give me. It is a real blessing in my life.

I know what you mean about the rain making grass grow Ro. I knew an old farmer who said rain brought with it plenty of nitrogen, especially if it was accompanied with lightning. I have not a clue if that's right, but a good rain beats all the sprinkling I can do.

Lucy, I hope you can get in to your Doctor and get the medication you need soon.

Well just a few hours left in this day and then it's the weekend. Yippee!

MDC, very sorry about your increased swelling but so glad you called your nephew. The right course of treatment and medication is crucial, as you know. Thank God things are improving.

Romeena, sounds like a great time. I love Marble Falls. We like to stay in the Hawthorne Suites on the water and always eat at the Blue Bonnet Cafe.

August 05, 2017 - Msg 107959: Good morning, porch! Possum, that song was just beautiful. Thank you for sharing it.

Asa, you know we are all here for you, whatever the future holds, and prayers are ongoing.

Yes, Boo, you do need to check in more often! We miss you when you aren't around. I know where the Hawthorne Suites are in Marble Falls, and it looks like a great place to stay, but since we always have furkids with us, we almost always stay at LaQuinta when the family travels. They welcome pets, and even have made accommodations for them, like designated potty areas and such. The LaQuinta was about five minutes from the marina, so it was very convenient.

MDC, I'm glad you got some rain! I know it's a scarce commodity in your area, and must be so very welcome when it comes. I'll bet the desert blooms after a rain like that. I'm praying that the edema continues to leave your legs, and that the cardiac status will improve so that it doesn't happen again.

Well, I'm hungry. Think I'll have "brunch." I've got some steel-cut oats, maybe I'll cook up a pot full. I like 'em, and I've got the blueberries and butter and brown sugar to swing it. Yum! Blessings, everyone. --Romeena

I hope I didn't paint to dark a picture. It has been a tough couple of months for Debbie, and I am concerned about her spirit. She has had enough and is done with all the pain. I certainly understand her feelings, but I hope she can have some better days so she can get some of her spunk back. Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers.
And thanks for checking in GF. I didn't know you were on vacation. Have fun and be safe.

It's rainy here and quite cool. I'm surprised that for the next 10 days there will not be 1 day that's 90 degrees! That's just crazy!

Did not have a great weekend but that's okay. It was mainly my stomach problems but my Army son is coming home for a 2 week visit tonight! So it will be quite crowded but I'm so excited to have all 3 kids with us. I have an appointment to get my stomach checked out on Wednesday. Yay!!

G-F- Good to hear you're having a nice getaway! I haven't been to Raleigh in quite some time. What brought you to NC?

Tom- Good to see you on the porch!

Possum- The Lord puts things on our hearts and leads us to comfort others whether we mean to or not. :)

Boo- Sometimes having an easy night isn't so easy. If work gets too slow I get sleepy! ha ha!

MDC- I am glad things are going well! Continued prayers for your recovery.

Romeena- Having healthy grass in Texas doesn't sound right. Ha!

Y'all have a great day today.

August 07, 2017 - Msg 107970:
Greetings everyone. We have a three day weekend here in Ontario, Canada, because the first Monday in August is Civic Day. It has no national nor historical significance other than being just a day that some employers offer as a day off from work. It is a holiday in 10 of Canada's 13 provinces and territories.

MDC, that is a good thing you sought a second opinion regarding your serious liquid retention problem. I'm glad to learn you are now receiving medical treatment that is offering you noticeable improvement and comfort.

Asa, I'm also glad to learn that some of the postings here have offered you some comfort regarding your personal difficulties.

Romeena, regarding the question MDC asked you in Msg 107944, I have not seen your reply yet. I am also interested to learn what progress has been made and if you need more help.

from Poor Horatio

August 07, 2017 - Msg 107971: Hmmm, been wondering who to ask, so I'll try the porch. Lots of details that don't really add to the issue, so I'll give a bare bones description:

I was supposed to meet a friend at work, a half hour before we started. We were getting together to take care of a minor matter for her benefit. It'd take a long time to explain why, but once we entered the workplace, there was no chance to take care of the matter.

I arrived 20 minutes early for our meeting, as I am one of those people typically way early. I saw her car in the parking lot already when I arrived. She'd entered the place, so I quickly realized I'd wasted a lot of time. I wasn't happy about it, but halfway through the day I realized maybe there was a mistake, so I asked her about it. She just said "I got to work a little early." Well, it was at least 55 minutes early. I am inclined to think that was deliberately to avoid me, but I don't know.

Regardless, I am a person who shows up on time when I know someone is waiting for me. I think it was a very rude thing to do. Any thoughts on how to handle it? Wait for her to come to me and apologize? If she doesn't, should I go to her? How big a disrespect to me was that? It makes me want to give her a cold shoulder although I understand it was a one time deal. Would anyone here give the cold shoulder to a friend for such an act if they wouldn't apologize? Sorry for the lack of details, but I promise for each one I gave you'd want to know 3 more.

Billy Ray the Postman

August 07, 2017 - Msg 107972: Good evening, porch. It's been threatening to rain all day, but not a drop so far. Still looks like a strong possibility, though. My sprinklers are set to come on just after midnight, and I don't want them to run if we're going to get rain. Also don't want to turn them off now if it's not going to rain. Decisions, decisions!

Billy Ray, without a little more information, it's hard to form an opinion and answer your question, but I'll try. Generally speaking, I always take the high road and give folks the benefit of the doubt. In other words, I would not take offense at your friend's behavior. I would probably just let it slide. If given the opportunity, I might tell her that I assumed from her missing our meeting that the problem was working itself out, or that she had decided not to pursue it. I'd tell her if she needed any further help, to let me know and I'd try. Other than that I'd just let the matter drop. I definitely would not hold out for an apology. I never keep track of "disrespects", because I believe most are unintentional, and if it was intended, and got no reaction, the fun was spoiled for the person involved. That's just my opinion, and it has worked very well for me. I have a lot of friends, and no known enemies. Conversely, in the event that I realize I have offended someone, I am quick to apologize. That's scriptural.

PH, This may be one of those times, and I do apologize. You responded very with a possible solution to

August 07, 2017 - Msg 107973: Well, what did I hit? This happens now and then, and I have no idea what key or keys I'm hitting that causes it. Anyway, to continue...

PH, You responded very quickly with a possible solution to Toye Starr's need for a replacement for her little pink heart toy, and I do appreciate it, and should have acknowledged it right away. Please forgive me! I explored the site, found that the toy they were advertising was a very, very close match to her original toy, almost identical. However, when I tried to order, the screen that came up was an error screen, telling that me that the page I was seeking was not available. I've kept the contact, and will try again. Apparently the company is located in China or some Asian nation. Thank you so much for the effort on Toye Starr's behalf, and I will keep trying.

Meantime, my daughter located a seller of somewhat similar toys, and just sent one to Toye Starr. It's similar, but not nearly as close a match as the one you found. She has accepted the toy, and does carry it around, but still plays with her worn-out old pink heart most of the time. Spoiled little diva!

Well, as I'm sitting here shaking inside and sweating, and hitting a LOT of wrong keys, I can only conclude that my blood sugar is dropping much too low, so I guess I'd better go check my sugar level, and eat something. Maybe I should eat first! It's a really unpleasant feeling. Blessings, porch. --Romeena

August 07, 2017 - Msg 107974: Lucy, My car 🚗...lol....And Yes we had a good time, both a get away and a working one for Mrs. G-F, she was helping her brother with his books for his new business, and a family visit with them, they live in Raleigh.... We did get to see the other Statue in Raleigh while we were there, it's in a real nice park in the downtown....

I will get caught up on the posts tomorrow, beat to the socks after a long trip...

August 07, 2017 - Msg 107975: Hey GF--did you see the bobby Fleet band in Raleigh? ha
LUCY--i bet your stomach was just anxious to see your son! Hope it is better now.
PH--good to hear from you. Seems like a lot of the holidays in Canada are not nationwide.
BILLY RAY--If she had not started her workday and waited for you two to meet, that would be one thing; but to just start work and not wait for your discussion was indeed rude. Why not just approach her again to set up another pre-work meeting, and just say"Please wait before starting work so we can get this settled" or similar. Romeena's suggestions are very good!
It looks like I will go home on Wed. They came in my room today and wanted to send me home TODAY, but my privates are still quite enlarged, tho I have shed over 20 pounds of fluids from my legs! I did a medicare appeal, and that bought me more time while my case is reviewed.
Prayers for all porchsters, your families, our nation, and the World

August 08, 2017 - Msg 107976: Hey MDC...Sorry to hear about your set back...Guess you feel about as bad as Forrest Gumpp did after he drank those 15 Dr. Peppers....Hope you get this all regulated Soon Buddy!...

Have to concur with Dorothy..."There's No Place Like Home"

TOM did ya hear me honk at ya while I flew by?...I gave ya a blast in Charleston at the Clarksburg split...Actually because someone cut me off...lol....

Romeena, that "Green Bag" email was a Good One 👍....

Billy Ray...Here is one for you too, it's mostly about wife's but may speak about coworker too?...

August 08, 2017 - Msg 107978: .....And Another Thing...Just to say I REALLY appreciate you folks that are from down South, it restores my faith in humanity that there are still a lot of decent folks left in the world who STILL know how to "Act Like Somebody" and show common respect and hospitality to strangers.... I think the per capita ratio of Giraffes in the South are WAY lower....Just Sayin'

I hope this transfers ok. Glen, quite a man! :(

August 08, 2017 - Msg 107981: Glad you're home safe and sound GF. You were missed. And glad the Wife did ok with it. I bet your Wheeler missed you, and you missed it. 10-4 buddy?

Amen to the Glenn Campbell condolences. I really dug him. Loved Wichita Lineman.

MDC, I gave you an order to get better. So quit messing around and do it! I will amp up the prayers for you friend.

Billy Ray, My thoughts are to talk it out with your co=worker in a nice gentle kind of way. Most likely she doesn't have a clue that she offended you, and most likely didn't do it on purpose. Anyhow, that's my take on it since you asked.

Thanks PH. The Porch folks are top notch kinda people. They rock!

I just read an article on line concerning check engine lights on cars. If you recall I have had the issue on and off on my Jeep Liberty. It seems that much (not all) that will activate the lights are related to emissions in one way or another. Well I was reading now how there are some lawmakers out there who want to set it up that if your light comes on, it will send a signal to some Govt. entity who will then notify you by mail that you have X number of days to get it fixed. Don't you just love new technology and your caring concerned Govt. being right there to watch you?

August 08, 2017 - Msg 107982: ASA--Believe me, I AM better! Going home Wed. woohoo. released over 20 lbs of fluids stuck in my legs! As for big brother gov't, things like that are scary for sure. Regarding autos, I had my CE light come on a few times, i loosened the gas cap, re-tightened it, and it went out!
May i ask you all for prayers for my wife. She suddenly has strong fatigue.
Went to the doc today, says it may be a virus or hormone imbalance.
Got a blood test to see about that. Thanks.
My DBacks currently TRYING to beat the Dodgers.

August 08, 2017 - Msg 107983:
Greetings folks. As most of us know, musician and singer Glen Campbell passed away at age 81. I am sure many of us are familiar with his solo hits such as Rhinestone Cowboy, By The Time I Get To Phoenix, Galveston and Wichita Lineman. But since I am a former professional musician and still play the guitar as a hobby, I admired his very little known session work before he became famous. Glen was an accomplished guitar player so much so that he worked as a professional session musician. A session musician is someone who is hired by a record company to play the background music on recordings for singers or bands that request it. To view just how talented Glen was with the guitar, you can watch a sample of an early 1965 performance at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rUcYSj4IbwI
Although Glen supposedly played on the recordings for over 1,000 songs, a few of the most famous can be found at http://people.com/country/glen-campbell-dead-session-musician-hits/
RIP Glen Campbell.

August 09, 2017 - Msg 107986: Happy Wednesday porch! checking in from work today.

we are having a cooler morning here on my end of the porch. rain is on its way later in the week according to the weather people.

my work schedule is staying pretty busy. now if I can figure out a way to get people to keep their appointments. Its generally not a problem for existing folks but people who schedule their first time appt sometimes change their mind and don't always call to cancel. Leaves me sitting waiting on them when I can generally fill the space by calling someone on the waiting list. its kinda aggravating.

Boo:Happy 16th birthday to Erin. Today is also my niece's birthday. she is turning 26.

Prayers for everyone who is dealing with sickness and other issues as well.

Lunch menu will be: sloppy joe sandwiches, plain or BBQ potato chips. homemade peach ice cream with oatmeal cookies. tea or lemonade to drink.

have a blessed day.

August 09, 2017 - Msg 107987: Good afternoon, porch. I've spent the last hour or so taking a course for certification in the operation of watercraft, emphasis on personal watercraft. Robbi and Richard have made the very reasonable request that people who visit them at the lake take this online course and have their certification. It's aimed primarily at the wild and woolly young-uns who might just hop on and take off without a clue to what they're doing. I'm sure they wouldn't require it of me, when I've ridden PWCs for years, but I'm backing their hand and will get my certificate. The course is very interesting, will take several hours to complete, but you can come and go, it saves your place until you return. It's quite comprehensive, includes sailboats and powerboats, including the big ones, and I'll never need that information, but I never back away from learning something new.

Maude, how rude of people to miss an appointment and not call you ahead of time! I don't know your setup there, but is there any way a minimum charge could be made for missed appointments with no call-in? That's just inconsiderate, not only of your time, but also of the person who was hoping for a cancellation where they could be fitted in. I realize things happen, and actually, just a few weeks ago I overlooked an appointment and missed it. They didn't seem to mind and just rescheduled me, but had they made a charge, I would have understood and paid it.

Well, I received the corrected proofs on the book today, checked them over and all corrections were made properly, so I emailed my coordinator that all is well, and he will now send me the documents for me to E-sign, to start the printing process. I am pretty excited. This has been a long time coming. Please pray with me that the book is successful, gets into the hands of people who need what it has to say, and that they are truly helped by it. That has been the goal all along.

Blessings, porch! --Romeena
