March 25, 2018 - Msg 109503: Good evening, porch. G-F, I suspect we might find quite a few "old-timey" sayings that we both use. I think I'm probably the most "senior" of the seniors on the porch - will be 79 in July - but some of you aren't too many years behind me. I know what Col. Potter (MASH) meant when he said sometimes he just liked to talk to someone who remembered the same presidents that he did. Speaking of Col. Potter, I really liked Harry Morgan. He was one of my long-time favorite actors, very versatile and could play so many different roles so convincingly. However, I've always thought that the personality of Col. Potter was probably pretty close to Harry's own personality. He seemed to be very comfortable in the role.

Well, guess I'll have a little snack, watch a little TV, then hit the hay. I'm sort of skipping dinner tonight. I napped until Toye Starr woke me up, wanting her own dinner, and now it's too late to bother with a full meal. Just a piece of fruit or some such will do nicely. Blessings, folks! --Romeena

March 26, 2018 - Msg 109504: ASA--I guess I have to say congratulations, and I'm sorry in the same sentence.
Congratulations on your upcoming 40th anniversary;
but I am sorry to hear of that dear lady who passed. Sure sounds like she was quite a woman.
ROMEEna--did you have house keys on the one that you lost? Not that any finder would know which house, but that would still bother me. I pray that u find them.
I think I read somewhere that Harry Morgan really was in the calvary, as it actually existed into the 60s.
Hope everyone has a great Holy Week!

March 26, 2018 - Msg 109505: ASA, Happy Anniversary and thank you for the information on the smoke detector. I will have someone help me on that one.
G-F, nice sweep you did a great job.
Hope you all had a wonderful Palm Sunday.

March 26, 2018 - Msg 109506: Good morning, porch! Cloudy and windy here today, with rain predicted for tonight and much of the rest of the week. I've got eight Gerbera daisies that I need to plant before the rain comes. I buy 6-8 of them each spring, as they're a little pricey, at $3 each. Actually, they're $3.95, but the garden center owner is my neighbor and gives me a "neighbor discount." I've planted a few every spring, and now I have them blooming all around the yard, because they're perennials. They're so pretty, so colorful with their bright, open faces.

My poor yard just looks so pitiful, compared to what it used to be. I just haven't been able to do very much the last couple of years, and it's expensive to hire it done, so I just pay for what absolutely must be done, like mowing and edging and weeding, and the rest goes begging. Also, I can't afford to buy 25 flats of petunias and pansies like I once did. At about $15 a flat, that got expensive! Also, we haven't divided the irises in several years, and they're not thriving like they once did. A few are starting to bloom, but not anything like it used to be. Oh well. It is what it is.

MDC, you mentioned a very valid concern, and I'm happy to be able to say that there is nothing on that keyring but the car key. My housekey is in the coin compartment of my wallet. I enter the garage with the door opener button, and I don't lock the door from the garage into the house. I figure if an intruder managed to get into the garage, he would just shut the door using the button, and would then have complete privacy, and would just destroy the door getting into the house. I do carry a key to the front door, because a power failure could lock me out of the garage. I can't imagine what I did with that key. I drove the car into the garage, got out, carrying nothing but my purse and the key, and entered the house. I put my purse on top of the washing machine, and turned off the alarm before it timed out and started screaming. I returned to the garage, took that flat of Gerbera daisies out of the trunk and set them on the garage floor, went back in the house, shutting the garage door with the button as I went. That's it. The key just vanished. It'll turn up eventually, in some ridiculous place. At least I have other keys.

What I don't understand, is why I have so many extra keys. When I bought that car, there was only me, no one else who would need a key. I'm beginning to think that there aren't that many different Cadillac keys. Since this is the sixth Cadillac I've owned over the years, and some of those extra keys look pretty old, I think they may have belonged to a previous car or two. Interesting. A little scary, too.

Happy Anniversary, Asa. Best wishes to you and your dear wife.

It wouldn't surprise me to know that Harry Morgan was a cavalryman. He rides very well, looks quite at home and comfortable in the saddle. He was a great actor, no question about that, but some things can't be acted, they're either there or they're not, and he had a real love for horses. You can see it in the way he touches Sophie, and the tone of his voice when he talks to her. In the episode where he thinks Sophie has run away, the little break in his voice when he says, "Aw, Sophie..." well, you can hear the heartbreak.

OK, got to leave this keyboard and go feed my little roommate. She hates it when I stop at the computer before going to the kitchen in the morning. Blessings, everyone! --Romeena

March 27, 2018 - Msg 109507: It has been beautiful out here in the west. A little breezy today, by thursday we should be in the high 70`s. Even had to mow the bermuda grass in the front yard today.
I cant believe how expensive the houses are over here. The last year they have gone up like crazy. I really don't know how these young couples can even afford a house or an apartment anymore. The demand for housing has put the prices through the roof.
Romeena, I have some irises in the flower bed and they just keep on multiplying and growing . They are so pretty when they bloom. These are real special irises. When my older sister and her husband passed away in a car accident I went over to her house and pulled a few out of her flower bed. They are all yellow ones and are growing so well. I have so many of them now and when they bloom it brings a smile on my face because I always think of my special sister.

March 27, 2018 - Msg 109508: ROMEENA--Just a thought...LOOK IN THE TRUNK!
I have done that before, set my keys in the trunk to get something out, and then closed the trunk. OK, I admit, it was a senior moment! :)

And yes indeed, one of my fav Potter lines is when he slips in some horse-you-know-what behind Sophie, and he says "That's a tiptoe thru the tulips for me." ha

Frankie--come on over to AZ, home prices are still 'reasonable.' Tho I will say this, we bought our home
40 years ago in 1978 for 35,000 and it is worth about 350,000 today! We remodeled the whole interior in 2016 for two reasons... just to enjoy it more, but also if we do have to seel, it is in good shape.

March 27, 2018 - Msg 109511: Morning all.

Thank you for the happy anniversary wishes. You hit these milestones and it makes you wonder how it all has gone by so fast. Seems like just a few years ago we were beginning our journey together And in a bling of an eye, 40 years have gone by. I guess that is an indication that it has been a fun ride. My Wife is probably thinking "we've only been married for 40 years? Seems a lot longer than that!" lol

Frankie, what a sweet memory with those irises. I know what you mean about the price of housing. Our market here has gone nuts also. We built our current home in 2000 on an acre lot. Back then it was very much still country life and local codes required a minimum 1 acre to build on. Shortly after that our area Incorporated into a City, although a small City. But almost right away ordinances changed and building lots came mush smaller. So today, a 1 acre lot that is zoned for large animals is in huge demand. I suppose I may sell it at some point. But not anytime soon I hope. It is in an area I really love. And I really enjoy the openness of acre lots.

MDC, Good suggestion to Ro about looking in the trunk. Ain't it fun to get old? We can hide our own Easter eggs. :)

One of my favorite Potter lines is "there ain't enough O's in smooth to describe this", or at least something to that effect. I think he was talking about a whiskey he was drinking. I'm not a drinker, but I will use that line on other things at times.

GF, I also hope you are doing ok with your fall. You are being kind of quiet. I enjoyed Floyd's podcast last night and the interview he had with Arnold. I was going to mention yesterday I was troubleshooting an electrical control on a piece of equipment, and was not seeing voltage present where I should have seen voltage present. Well, to make a long story short, after doing a lot of searching, trying to find where on earth I had an open circuit, I finally realized that my meter was the issue, and not the circuit. One of my test leads was bad. Boy, did I ever feel like a novice. Once I got some good leads on it, I went back to the problem and got it resolved quick like. (a bad door switch) Another 20 minute fix that took me 4 hours to figure out. I remember years ago as an apprentice, my Journeyman telling me that every morning I should set my meter to ohms and touch the probes together just to make sure the leads are good. And then switch to voltage and test it on a proven power source to prove that the voltage readings were good. Yep, he was brilliant. lol

Better get to work I reckon. I think I will start with a test of the old tester. lol

March 27, 2018 - Msg 109513: Thank you for your prayers, Asa. I am so sorry to hear about your friend who passed, but glad she is reunited with her loved ones.

It's a lovely day here in South Texas...warm and sunny. I have been busy with chores the last couple of days but taking time to have some fun, too. St. Susan and Emily will be over later to dye some eggs and I am looking forward to an evening with family.

I had to pick Erin up from school today. She was having a panic attack. She went to the nurse's office but nurse wasn't able to console her. I brought her home and cried for quite awhile before falling asleep holding her stuffed bear. I am at a loss at what else to do for her. I don't want to keep adding medication. She has been for counseling and it is tough because she cant seem to pinpoint what brings on the attacks. She was doing better when she was playing basketball. She still works out daily but I guess it isn't the same. I guess I will make an appointment with her doctor. She is due for a check up and I guess we will start with that.

Sean is doing well on his new job and it seems to be much less stressful for him than other jobs he has had. Its not a lot of money but enough for him right now.

Better go get the clothes out of the dryer. I am so boring these days. I wish I had something exciting to share.

March 27, 2018 - Msg 109514: Boo, Hope Erin is feeling better soon. Prayers for the two of you. I worry about all the stress my niece`s and nephew`s go through now days. It is so different than when I was in school.
Asa, that is great you have a nice lot before they changed all the codes. Now days it seems the builders jam as many homes in one lot as they can. I was able to check into the smoke alarms in our house and we are ok. I have a different model #. Feel so much better knowing we will not have to change them out.

Just brought the laundry in. I have been able to hang them out on the line in the backyard.

As I was sitting here on my computer another large dumpster was just dropped off next door.

March 27, 2018 - Msg 109517: Good evening, porch. G-F, I didn't find the keys in the trunk. I haven't found them anywhere as yet. I found some extra keys that I had stashed at some point, thank goodness. At least I didn't have to have one made, I've heard that can be expensive. They'll turn up sooner or later, somewhere. I may or may not let y'all know when they do - it depends upon how ridiculous the place is where they're hiding. Actually, I keep using the plural "they", when in reality, it's one key on a the ring with the fob that unlocks the doors, opens the trunk, etc.

Boo, has anyone ever drawn blood and checked Erin's adrenaline level during one of those attacks? Just wondering....

We've had a slow rain all day, and still more coming. There's a bit of a light show going on right now, a bit south of me, but I can see it out my big old window. I love this window! The sights I see, the little birdie and squirrel romances, the quarrels and squabbles between the critters, and at night, with the strategic lighting I have in place, I get to see the night visitors, too. Fascinating!

Well, guess I'll go slice up some fruit for a little snack before bedtime. Blessings, friends! --Romeena

March 27, 2018 - Msg 109518: No, Romeena, never have done anything like that. I guess I will talk to her doctor soon. She almost acts like someone with PTSD. When I questioned her about her anxiety, she told me (and she has told me this twice recently), that she had a dream that upset her and she woke up "feeling strange" and anxious, then later in the day came the full-blown panic attack. Like I said before, something happened to her during the MRI and stressful event she went through in 2014.

Tonight Susan and Emily did come over and Emily dyed some eggs. We watched the premier of the Roseann show that everyone is talking about. I found it to be quite boring, but that's ok. I never watch network television anyway.

Poor Sean rushed to work to attend a mandatory meeting he needed and the meeting was at 4pm. He got to the door at 4:59 and the instructor turned him away saying the class had already started. He had to drive 40 minutes to get there and his brakes started acting up on his old LaSabre. He had to drive it straight to the shop so I will be driving him to and from work on my days off until he gets his car back. He wasn't very happy, but I am glad we can get it fixed and he will be safe. It is a serious brake issue and could have been dangerous.

Erin seems moody but isn't anxious this evening. I hope tomorrow is a better day.

I did my shopping for Easter dinner. I am making ham for these carnivores around here, baked beans, green bean salad, fruit salad, rolls, and chocolate cake (for Sean since his birthday is Monday and he is working). Susan is making some vegetarian eggrolls for us and they are really good. I can eat the baked beans and the fruit salad, too. I haven't had any trouble sticking to this lifestyle change and don't feel deprived. I have lost a total of 55 pounds and still have lots of energy I didn't used to have. I will be getting blood drawn again soon and will let you know how that goes.

Guess I will go watch a little TAGS before I turn in. Blessings to all!

Love,
Boo

Boo, So sorry to read about Erins problems. I hope your Doctor can properly diagnose then treat it. What is Seans new job?

Good to see John Masters, Bill Medwin, and Possum posting.

Happy Birthday to Mrs. Asa! Hope it was a good one. It was if you didn't give her snails. Did you have a Sezerac...it's a kind of New Orleans drink, according to Peggy. Did you buy Mrs. Asa a pineapple skinner...or maybe a bottle opener with an umbrella like Barney found down at Weaver's?

Tomorrow is a full day so I think I will turn in. Hope you all have a great day tomorrow.

March 29, 2018 - Msg 109524: Good evening, porch. I had a lovely, peaceful day today. I dropped Tillie off at the little mechanic shop/inspection station next door to the church, so the owner could replace the tail light cover that got broken while he had it a few weeks ago, doing the state inspection. He had to order the cover so it took a while, but it cost me nothing. He's a very nice and friendly older fellow, and seems to do a thriving business, in a very space-limited location.

While Tillie was being fixed, I walked next door and into my classroom, taught my ESL class, and then hung around while Eloise taught hers. Too bad they're not at the same time, but that's the way they're scheduled. Then we teamed up with two other friends, who also teach, and went to our favorite Thai restaurant for lunch. I love Thai food! The place is owned and run by yet another church member, who happens to be from Thailand. She and her husband and two sons run the place, and sometimes you have to wait in line to get in. Excellent food, and they make purple sticky rice with coconut milk sauce, and it is soooo good! We eat in there about twice a month and it's always wonderful.

Well, Eloise and I are going on a day trip with the church folks tomorrow, to Ft. Worth to tour the stock yards. I've done it before, and it's really a lot of fun. We'll see some beautiful animals, visit a small museum, and have lunch in (probably) a Mexican restaurant. We're on our own for lunch, but we'll probably mostly all end up at Riske Rita's, a well-known and very good place to eat. Just good solid, basic Mexican food, like Mamacita would make, and reasonably priced.

When I came home, I put out critter food, then cuddled in my wheelerette with Toye Starr and watched MASH. Good supper from last night's leftovers, and I had it made. Nitey-nite, friends! Be sure to talk to Jesus (and listen to Him, too) before you turn out the light. --Romeena

March 29, 2018 - Msg 109525: HI GANG, I have had a busy couple of days. They came to finish the epoxy coating on the front porch and back patio. They turned out really nice. The garage has to wait due to moisture. They are going to shoot for May when it gets hotter here.
But also, get this...in my front yard I have two big 'oscillating' sprinklers in each corner. They pop up, and then snap back down into the ground under a round cover. Well...yup (things seem to happen in threes) one of them broke off! The plastic of the mechnism must have fatigued and broke, so now i have to replace it! Ah, the joys of home ownership. :(
ASA--to answer your question, since the 2nd break in the backyard was on the circuit side, I just used a compression repair sleeve. Oh, and congrats to your wife.
BOO--my prayers continue for your family. That sure seems unfair that they would not let Sean into that meeting. He should have told em that he's going to vote to keep the cannon! (ha, a little jocularity.) Did you post the eggs on FB?
ROMEEna--I am so sorry the trunk idea did not pan out. That is sure strange how they disappeared from the garage to the house. Keep looking, they cant be far offf. (Did you check between the seat and the center console?)
Hello to everyone else! God's blessings as we enter these next few special days,

March 29, 2018 - Msg 109526: Good morning all.
Thanks for the happy birthday wishes for the Mrs. (hey, that rhymes) I wish I could report we had a nice dinner, but she was not having a good day with her health and we just stayed home. I feel bad for her. No Boo, I couldn't find any of those can openers with the little umbrellas anywhere. So I bought her a new laptop computer. She said hers was getting close to expiring. She loves to do genealogy work on it.

Well MDC, You are turning into quite the sprinkler feller. GF and I are proud to let you into our exclusive club. You just need to have cuff links shaped like little pipe wrenches, and dirt under your finger nails to get in. And if one of your finger nails is black from a previous smashing, you automatically are enshrined onto our executive board for the length of the blackness. And should you lose said nail, the appointment becomes a lifetime position. We believe in taking care of our own buddy! I'm so proud of you! :)

Speaking of GF, Where is he? I hope he didn't injure himself worse than he said after his ladder fall. Check in if you can GF.

Well off to a staff meeting today in the big city. At least I get a lunch out of it. I just hope they don't have that French deli cater it. Snails and Brains just don't cut it for me.

March 30, 2018 - Msg 109531: Aw, I'm sorry Mrs. Asa was having a bad day and unable to go out. I'm glad you got her the laptop for her genealogies. How far do you live from the temple in Salt Lake? My dad went to Salt Lake to the temple to look at the public records there once..he couldn't actually go to the temple, since he wasn't LDS, nor would he have obtained a temple recommend even if he was (lol...haha). By the way, have you heard about this guy named Sam Young, who is a member of the LDS church in Houston and is getting a petition and going to try to meet with the apostles about having parents present with minors when they are having their interviews with their bishop? I have heard him speak a couple of times and he shares stories of LDS youth who were asked very disturbing questions and some even suffered abuse or were so shamed they committed suicide. It's an interesting story, if you are interested...google sam young and "protect LDS children".

Boo, I hope you don't have to work on Easter Sunday. Are you having a big dinner at your house for Easter? I have never heard of Sam Young. I will look him up. We live about 40 miles north of Salt Lake, but I think maybe you were meaning the History Library instead of the Temple. The Library is open to the general public and is the place to go if you are interested in family history, although much is available now on line.

Good to see you GF, and glad you are doing ok. I was a big baseball fan when I was a kid, but strayed away from watching it as I got older. I really got into football, and just about any kind of motorsports, especially drag racing. But thanks to the NFL and its refusal to deal with its childish players and their tantrums, I am done with them. So I just may come back to watching baseball again. Frankie, I was a big A's fan back in the day.

We are supposed to be flirting with the 70's this weekend. Gotta love it! No need for heat or A/C. And time to start doing some yard work finally.

Billy Ray, I suspect that it was when that Gordon feller was looking for his car keys in Wally's cash register was what got him arrested. lol

Off to work and then a three day weekend on tap.

Prayers for all for a blessed Easter weekend.

Asa

March 30, 2018 - Msg 109535: Sounds like great weather there, Asa. It's going to be in the 80s here today. I am off on Easter and yes, will be cooking, but only for my family and St. Susan and her family..not a huge gathering. By the way, you are right about the History Library I am sure. I couldn't remember the details because it has been years ago, but I remember that Dad had gone to look up something. I know he and mom visited the area near around the temple and the museum. Dad had a fascination, of sorts, with the LDS people, though he never wanted to convert or anything. He just thought they were great folks and he often hosted the young missionaries in our area. We had some fun...he spoiled them a little..the young men anyway..the few young women that showed up were much more serious about what they were doing. :)

Well, got Erin off to school and Sean off to work (his car is still in the shop) and Bruce is supposed to come home today. He has been in San Angelo again all week doing some sort of project for work. He is going to be home in time to mow the lawn. You all should see our grass...bright green and beautiful. It was worth the work and expense, for sure.

Guess I will finish up the laundry and get a few chores done. I have been doing some of the cooking ahead for sunday and made the berry filling for my pie and oh my lands is it ever good! I made the dough for the crust but will just refrigerate it until I am ready to bake it on sunday. I made up the baked beans and green bean casserole so I will just put them in the oven with ham to bake while we are in church. I wont be eating the ham, but I will make it for the rest of the family. The way I do ham (in case you need to know, Asa), is that I buy the sliced hams that are already cooked, really, and I put them in a pan and glaze them with a mixture of brown sugar, mustard, and a little coke or dr pepper, if I have it. If not, I just thin it with a little water. I make a thin paste out of it to glaze the ham, then I put a little water in the bottom of the pan and cover it all with foil or a lid and slow bake it for at least 2 hours. I take the foil off and let it bake for awhile without it, too. It turns out well and I use the pan drippings to make a sweet ham gravy that the family loves.

I still have to make the chocolate cake for Sean's birthday but will wait till tomorrow so it wont dry out by sunday.

I watched some TAGS this morning while doing chores and saw the ep in which andy has a tiff with Peggy and Barney drags him to Mt. Pilot where they meet up with Daphne and Skippy. I just love that ep!

Hope you all have a terrific day...talk to you later and have a blessed Good Friday.

March 30, 2018 - Msg 109536: Hello Porch: Good Friday. That's a good ep. It's at the top somewhere in line. I am a black and white tv expert. Along with thousands of old time radio shows thrown in. Barney Fife has just nailed comedy. His body, his dialogue, his facial expressions. This guy just simply nailed it. I can only imagine Barney doing stand up Seinfeld like. I can imagine "Barney Fife-Chicago Theater-sold out, maybe three nights only but you don't need much more. 10,000 tickets total. As far as TAGS goes...Easily the number 1 character of all episodes. I don't see how anyone can debate that point otherwise.

March 30, 2018 - Msg 109537: Hello Porch: I forgot to sign Medwin Bill Medwin above. Anyway. I am aware of Tied up in Knots. Never seen the show. I certainly look forward to it though. Traveling from east to west Barney could have been paid 100K per night. Certainly a tough schedule. Surely worth it. But he choose the big screen. Not a good choice. Apparently. Or maybe it was. March 31, 2018 - Msg 109539: HI ALL--Just a quick report that my TEE went well.
The doc was running late however. I never have understood why i have to show up two hours early
to such things, especially since they have the IV put in and other papers signed in about 20 minutes, then i sit there the rest of the time. But anyway, they had me put under before they inserted the sonar probe, so that was good.
When I woke up I didnt remember much at all.
Thank you for your prayers! Well the fentynal is taking
some time to wear off, so im gonna hit the sack.

March 31, 2018 - Msg 109540: Tucker, I'll go ahead and open that ole can of worms.....but sorry, I must be the only person in the world that doesn't believe it was a "mistake" that Don Knotts signed that movie contract. How did that conversation go in his mind? "Hey, one time Andy told me the TV show would last 5 years. Now that we have 5 years in, I am 100% sure there's been no change in plans in the meantime, so I won't even bother to bring the matter up before I sign this movie contract without giving a headsup to the rest of the show." Sorry, I ain't buying that.

March 31, 2018 - Msg 109545: Evenin Porch: Barney appears again. I was doing some chores and glanced at the t.v. and there was barney. In some sort of gown and wig on McHales Navy. Season 4 episode 26. I knew it was Barney because he came into my shop (Floyd's Shop) and tripped us up with the ponies goings on. I think that's the one where he went into the yard to take down somebody's wash that was drying on the clothesline. Or was that the one where he was Mrs. MaGruders something or other? MBM

April 01, 2018 - Msg 109555: Happy Easter to all of you. I hope it was blessed. We went to church, had lunch with the family, played some games and relaxed. I made the mistake of eating some baked beans that contained brown sugar AND a piece of berry pit and got a headache and my heart pounded for hours. I'm just not used to sugar anymore and it made me feel terrible. Sad..but I guess now I know I cant cheat and get away with it.

It was a beautiful day here with a cool breeze..just perfect in the shade or in the sun.

I'm pretty tired tonight now that the kitchen is clean and I am showered and getting ready to hit the ironing board.

April 02, 2018 - Msg 109559: Good morning all.
I hope everyone had a great Easter.

GF, Looks like Joe is working O.T. this year buddy. Makes up for last year I reckon. 10-4?

Boo, It sounds like you and sugar don't cotton to each other. I wonder if I am also sensitive to it. Or at least to HFCS. Hmm, now you have me wondering. Glad you had a nice day and ate some berry pie and not berry pit. :)

Hey Lucy Mathews. Good to see you.

Well I was gonna do some yard work today, but the weatherman said it's supposed to rain. So I guess we will see. Got my taxes off in the mail Saturday. I need to adjust my withholdings I reckon. I am paying way to much and tax time. I don't a mind owing little, but not as much as I am paying right now.

MDC, I am glad tour TEE went well. I didn't want to say anything, but when I had mine done, it was terrible. I don't think they had me out far enough because I can remember most of it. The next day when I was talking to my Cardiologist, he asked me how the TEE went, and I told him terrible, he was quite troubled by that. He said I should not have remembered anything and that I was not out deep enough. I have had more than one Doctor tell me that I am a difficult one to put under. They often have to up the dosage more than usual. Not bragging, just sayin. lol

Ro or Boo, Have either of you ever heard of "trigger finger"? About a month or so ago I woke up one morning finding it difficult to bend or straighten my pinkie finger on my left hand. It kind of locks in place. I declare, this getting old business is fun. You wake up with a new pain everyday it seems.

Well MDC, I see you are to humble of a man to give us a speech concerning your admission into the GF/Asa Handymans Association, so allow me to do it for you.
My fellow Handymen, I stand before you a humble man, born of humble parents, in a humble home, and a humble town. Where did it all start, you ask???....

April 02, 2018 - Msg 109560: .....”It ALL started with a leaky “T”....lol.....Good One Asa!...G-F

April 02, 2018 - Msg 109561: Asa, that might be plain old arthritis, bless your heart. I get that in my right little finger now and then or it can be downright painful! Good for you getting your taxes out. Bruce is working on our's today.

I had to go to an early meeting at work and now am going to take a little rest before I do some chores. Today is Sean's birthday and he wants to go out to eat tonight with his family and a couple of friends to the Olive Garden. I don't care for the place but he likes it, so I wont complain since its his birthday. :) I guess I can get the salad and veggie soup.

Hope you all have a great day!

Boo

April 03, 2018 - Msg 109562: ASA-- I was composing my speech on the back of an envelope, so here it goes... Five score and 18 years ago, our forefathers brought forth upon this continent a new concept... indoor plumbing! (and later, outdoor sprinkler systems. ha) Conceived in convenience, and dedicated to the proposition that one day plumbers would have to fix them! :) I humbly accept your humble offer to humbly induct me into the humble GF/Asa Handyman's humble pipe-fixing Association. It is a humble honor to accept the fickle "Leaky T Plaque." I must humbly conclude however, and state that I am too skinny to show the universal "sign" of the trade...you know, the upper portion of a you-know-what! lol (how was that?) Just dont make me join the royal order of lake loons! :)
LUCY--thanks for dropping by. I hope your Easter was blessed!

ALL--I gotta tell you something funny. The other night I was watching The Wild Wild West, and Alan Hale (the skipper) was on as a guest star playing a gov't agent. Well, at the very end, James West asks him if he has to head back to Washington, and he says "No, I'm going on vacation to a tropical isle." Then he winked and a few bars of the Gilligan's Island theme song played. I think it is neat when they do things like that. Matlock did it a lot with tags folks.

Well, I started my taxes today. Ours are not too complicated, so i do them myself. It's just that initial 'push' to begin them that is hard to do. Next year we may not even have to itemize if the $24,000 standard deduction goes into effect.
Have a super Easter week! Love this time of year,
MDC
