Happy Monday to all. I hope everyone is A OK.
My end of the porch has had some wacky weather this month. We went from 70-75 degrees to freezing temperature, snow, ice in places and then back to Spring like weather. It was close to 80 degrees over weekend and its 59 degrees today. That is how March weather is in Northeast Tennessee.
Everything with us has been pretty quiet. We got to see the grandbabies yesterday. Tripp is growing up and looks like a little boy now and not a toddler. He is very entertaining. Baby girl Clarke is already 2 months old tomorrow and is already holding her head up on her own, smiles great big. Tripp is handing his big brother role quite well.
Work is mostly busy for me. I am working 3 days a week (M, Tues, Wednesday). Even though I am definitely old enough to retire I am not quite ready to stop working. I suppose I will Know when the times comes.
Guess that's about all for now.
Prayers and blessings to all

HI ALL, Wow, a very slow porch lately!
I spent a couple of days with some friends in Prescott, AZ
this past week to get out of our weird heat wave.
They say it should be back in the 80s here by Tuesday, however.
They have a courthouse there built in 1910, and it is in the middle
of the town square. I sent GF a photo of the bandshell/gazebo.
It was first built in 1889, but deteriorated, so now, since 1910,
the floor is cement, so no spiders! ha It has held several
town bands over the years. Here's a link. It is a neat 'little' town.

This weekend I am doing my taxes; so much fun! ha
Hope everyone is doing OK. Stop by when you can.

Yes MDC, it has been very slow on the porch. I have been checking in now and then but not seeing many here. Been busy these days but nothing i cant handle.
Finally bought one of those memory foam mattresses for my sewing room/guest room and it feels so nice. It will be nice to have a spare bed if needed. I really enjoy being in that room. Its very sunny and bright and I painted an old bookcase that belonged to my dad's family when he was a child. I put it in the room with some children's books and toys for when Jonah is ready for them. Folks, he is just the cutest, sweetest baby. All smiles. His little foot still turns in just a little. Dont know it will require more surgery later. He is a chubby little cherub for sure. You all would like him. Be sure I will watch Andy with him when he is ready for it. Lots of life lessons to learn from Andy. :)
What are all of you going to be doing for Easter this year? I will be out of town for the first time since I married Bruce. It will be the first time I havent cooked for the family in over 20 years. Whew! Sean and his two best friends were planning a trip to Lockhart (the BBQ capital of Texas) and invited me to come along. We always have a good time together. We all share memories (these friends have been Seans best friends since they very small children), and we always find something to laugh about. Thursday is Sean's birthday and he will be 31 if you can believe it! Went by fast.
Well, hope you all have a good week next week. I will check in.

Hey y'all- Thought I'd come out from underneath my rock for a bit! Hope everyone is doing well. I've been busy with doctor appointments, tests, and such. Getting the ol ticker checked out good after going 20 years without a cardiologist visit. I had an Ekg,treadmill stress test, echocardiogram and am currently wearing a heart monitor for 30 days. Next week I have a nuclear stress test and hopefully that'll be enough and my doctor can make the proper recommendations going forward. I know I have a few valve problems and we'll see if anything else pops up. Hope not!
Oh,and on top of all this,I developed a skin infection from what my doctor thinks was the tight band that they put on me for the Ekg. I thought the heart monitor was causing an allergy because I'm sensitive to adhesives but whatever caused it,the prescription cream the doctor prescribed seems to be helping. It's always something, though!
I don't have any updates on my daughter and Laci. Have not heard from my daughter in nearly a month. Whatever. I imagine they have moved by now, although I don't know where. I do know that God is watching over them and I am praying. That's all I can do and it's enough.
Gotta get this heart stuff behind me so that I can tackle the next thing, which is to get my property put up for sale. Looks like a busy Spring for ol possum!
I wish every one of you a Blessed Easter.

So sorry about the skin infection. Did he give you a topical?
I had a good Easter. I helped out at the Saturday evening service, and
34 people from 7 to 80 were baptized! We have an 'immersion' style
baptistry, and as each one stepped out, the organist pulled out the stops
witha might Praise God!. Very moving. Today, Easter, I just slept in, did
some trimming in my backyard, and just had a simple meal on my own this year.
BOO, I hope your "different" Easter went well today with Sean and the guys.
Did you enjoy some good BBQ?

Only thing was that my head felt " full" and I had some shortness of breath, but my heart didn't start pounding wildly or anything like I feared.
My test results were available online yesterday afternoon and from what I can tell, everything came out normal,so thank God for that. Of course Wally discovers the dog and tells Beaver it's a Mexican Hairless breed. Later when his parents discover the dog and are questioning Beaver about it, June asks, "I wonder what kind of dog it is?", and Beaver says, "Wally said it's a naked Mexican". So funny!

Hope all are well. We are doing ok I think. Taking things one day at a time in this world we live in.
MDC, I have always loved leave it to B but havent watched it in a long time. I remember for years when the kids were small, TAGS and then LITB would come on every night starting at 9pm central, on TBS I think. Every evening, after a long day, Bruce would be in his recliner, I would lie down on the couch and my little ones would sit behind my legs on the couch. They called it sitting in "the nest" and we would watch TAGS and LITB. That started before Erin was even born but eventually Sean and Erin both would watch TAGS from the nest. Sweet memories but man, I remember being tired so much of the time and I didnt even work outside the home. I dont know how working moms do it. Seems I never slept because either one child or the other was waking up during the night. It didnt help that I started my family kind of late in life. I was 33 when Sean was born, and 39 with Erin. Now that I can sleep, menopause took care of that and insomnia is a constant companion. lol
I took care of Baby Jonah on Friday while his parents moved into an apartment. That baby is heavy and my poor back! lol, He is obsessed with his "Gram" and when I am around, he throws a fit if anyone else tries to take him. I felt bad because when his mama wanted to see him and came close to me, he threw his head back and started to wail. He did the same with Erin. Guess what his first word was? Yep..when I left he was crying and making the "G" sound and something that sounded like Gram. Poor sweetie. I hated to leave him but I know my limits. lol He is so cute with his fat little face and legs. Grins and smiles a lot, too.
A couple of weeks ago I bought a mattress and put a bed in my sewing room for company when the need arises. (If I have already told you all this, my apologies. Its my age. ha). Jonah loves sitting on that bed with me and playing with his toys. Its the beginning of fun times. Funny how Erin has driven completely bonkers and I have never been madder at anyone, but she has also brought me some of my most wonderful blessings, especially Jonah. I guess every cloud has a silver lining if you are lucky enough to find it.
Better git going. Hope you all have a good week next week,
Boo

Please, all who feel so led, pray for us here in south texas. This water crisis is scary and the news is saying we will likely run out in late May. I am not sure what that will mean for us but we could sure use prayer for this situation. You have city leaders who are questionable, and funds for the water project that have disappeared. This doesnt only effect Corpus Christi but all surrounding communities for many miles who all have the same water sources. So many people.

Glad you have those water sources, MDC! As you know down here in the bottom of Texas there is no snow, and most lakes are mostly dried up now and summer hasnt even hit yet. It seems the local gov officials are spending precious time arguing instead of fixing things and all the industries in this area own the water rights. As usual, it all came down to the love of money and there is still millions allotted to the water project that have not been accounted for. Frustrating for sure. I might be moving my family north. lol
Yes, Jonah is a good baby but not as cooperative as he used to be. lol So cute, though. As you can imagine, things are tough for Erin's little family. She is working long hours to cover expenses. I just dont know how they are going to make it. Amy works part time but not for much. I just wish one of them would get an education or go to trade school. Its so tough to make it in todays economy.
Well, gonna go fry Bruce some shrimp and fish at his request. Man, I hate to smell up the house but what can you do. The man doesnt ask for much. ;)

We will lose our water wells or they will be poisoned with arsenic if this happens. Officials in our county are attempting to go to washington and plead for the use of reverse osmosis filters or something. MDC, I have yet to see that particular ep of Day Tripper but will have to look for it. Port Aransas is just practically up the road from us (or over the ferry) but we seldom go there unless I have patient's to see. In summer and spring break the ferry lines are impossible. If you go in the off season it is really nice.
I have been to the Tarpon Inn but not the other places you mention. May have to check them out. One thing I do know is that Port A is the place to make the money. Some people take temporary summer jobs there because of the pay they get as wait staff or in the bars. Wages are higher because of the trouble of taking the ferries. Some people park, ride their bikes onto the ferry and then bike to their jobs from there. You also see a ton of people driving golf carts on the island (often under the influence so you really have to drive carefully).
Wow, KY girl, you have quite a few grandchildren! Sad about your well situation there. People here are in a real panic over all of this. No way to tell now what will happen. I think they should make these industries like Exxon find a way to provide the water they need. They can afford it and that should have been a stipulation before they were allowed to build here in our area. They knew over a decade ago that this crisis was coming and did nothing to prevent it. Millions of tax dollars unaccounted for. They are about to enact emergency water restrictions here in my county. We have been on water restriction for over a year and they are about to get stricter, which they should. Experts project September as the time that we may run out and they are trying to push through with a pipeline that will drain our aquafers here. It will be a sad day.
I understand your fear, KY girl. If we werent dealing with climate change I would have some hope about this water situation but as summers continue to get hotter and so many water sources drying up here in Texas, it is hard not to worry about it and what it will mean. We dont get run off from snow and this drought is getting us. If other things were going better in this world/country it would be easier. This war costing so much, people losing their medicaid and unable to afford health care. I saw recently that medical bills are causing many people to go bankrupt and that is just a sin in a country like ours. I wont go on because we all know about the cost of everything but it is hard to put all of it out of mind when I have no confidence in the men and women in government to put the people ahead of themselves and the rich and powerful. Much prayer is certainly in order!
Possum, so glad you will get to see Laci. Now, stay strong on your boundaries and dont let yourself be unappreciated. Love you, girl.

Thanks Boo. Can't really say much,no time, busy.
Pray we find them a place to live- soon!
Have them here with us right now but it is too much on me and Mr. Possum. Plans they had fell through in a big way. Really has been a nightmare.
Need prayers, friends. Will say more when I have time. Jumped online real quick while getting a bite to eat.
God bless us all.

HI ALL! So sorry that I have been AWOL for a week or so, but have had
several out-of-state siblings here visiting and staying with me.
All are back home now, but was pretty busy for a while.
Also had several doc appts for semi-annual check-ups and the like.
BOO--I think the copyright on that day tripper ep was 2019. The show
is broadcast on a local PBS station. But regarding jobs,we saw that at Yellowstone.
College kids would work in Yellowstone in the day, then in the town of West Yellowstone
at night! One thing I dont understand about our water situation is that they keep
building highrise apts here, 500 to 600 to a building. Think of all the water for showers,
laundry, etc needed for those!!
POSSUM, so glad you got to see your daughter and Laci, but I sure hear ya about
staying with you, even if temporarily, as I just went thru that with my sibs!
Hang in there, I pray that something will come along. Many prayers for you and yours!!!
Call if you need to talk to someone. Any word on the monitor results?
KY GIRL...get your mint julip ready for the derby! :)
I grew up camping. My dad would do the same thing...air out the tent and bedrolls,
Coleman stove etc. Camped at many lakes in northern AZ. Good times for sure.
Glad you got some refreshing rain!
G-F--I love that 'pulpit!' Wish I could put in a bid for it. I hope it goes
to a 'worthy' Mayberry fan! :)
I sure hope that SPOTTY is not being affected by the fires in GA. SPOT, check in
when you can.
PRAYERS FOR ALL,

PORCH MEMORY (This time from MDC :)
December 02, 2022 - Msg 118425: Good morning, porch! Imagine my surprise when the package on my front porch did not contain the three shirts I was expecting, but rather a very unexpected and much-appreciated souvenir, that will forever have a place of honor in my home! Thanks, G-F, for a very thoughtful and kind gift! You're a treasure!
Gray, dreary and cold here today. Just 56°, but feels colder. Things will heat up in a little while, though. We're playing bunco at noon today. Somebody got the notion that we should start playing at noon instead of in the evening, and the idea won by one vote. Grrr. I don't like it, but I try not to rain on anybody else's parade. Some of the girls don't drive at night, and I know that's a problem, but there are several of us who will gladly pick them up, so it's not really a problem. Irving isn't that big, most of us are within two miles or less of the ones who need rides. Oh well. We'll have fun. Since it's lunch, the hostess usually just provides something to drink and a dessert, instead of the full meals we do in the evening. The girls all bring a burger or a sandwich from home, or whatever. I'll pick up Eloise, we'll stop at Chick-fil-A, and I'll probably get a bowl of their amazing mac and cheese! We're also doing a "white elephant" gift thing. I'm taking a nice little "candle fountain" that's still in its box, and has been sitting on top of my dryer for about five years. Have no idea where it came from, but I have no place to use it, so I hope someone else can enjoy it. Should be a fun afternoon.
Gotta run, or the girls will see me with no makeup and wild hair! Blessings, friends! Keep looking up! --Romeena

Thanks,MDC,thought about calling you for a friend to talk to but things have been so hectic. I may call one day, just for friendly support and prayers. Mr. Possum is highly agitated, like I'm dealing with a dementia patient ranting in a nursing home. All this is too much for him in HIS house. I get it but I had no choice.
We have a possible good contact of a nearby town,a woman runs an organization that helps folks in situations just like my girls are facing. Sets folks up in campers, donates for their needs to get them back on their feet. I really think help will come from this so trying to reach this woman. Everyone ,please pray!!! Will update when able.
No heart monitor results yet. My poor heart has really been through it lately would probably blow up the monitor 💥 boom! If I were still wearing it- ha!
Ol possum hanging in there. Pray, friends. Love you all ,each and every Porch friend.

MDC,just heard from cardiologist. I have to get labs drawn, then I have an appointment with him on the 7th.He wants to check magnesium and electrolytes,do a full metabolic panel, then I need another EKG. Not sure what's going on but it's likely linked to mitral valve/ arrhythmia ( that's just me speculating).
My daughter is a cardiac tech, actually trained under my doctor. She said not to be too worried about it. Yeah but look at the situation she's in- ha! No,not funny, but sometimes ya just gotta laugh!
Will keep y'all posted. Keep me in your prayers- thanks!

MDC, Im sure those are some very special camping memories. I think Northern Arizona is absolutely beautiful. I remember staying in a lovely cabin once, above the north rim of the canyon. It was like a dream. The cabin was secluded, surrounded by aspen trees and in a huge field of little yellow wildflowers. The sound of those Aspen trees in the breeze was ethereal! I was only 19 but will never forget it.
I know what you mean about those apartments. They are still building around here, too, subdivision right down the road from me. I dont know what they are going to do when the water runs out. State of Texas just turned us down on a request for funds to build a desalination plant. News says we will be the first major city in US history to run out of water but looks like it is going to happen, along with all surrounding towns. We all share the same water supply.
Thanks for that Romeena memory. I sure miss her but God sent me another mentor that I have been blessed by for 3 years now. My dear, sweet 95 year old patient Margaret. She finally transferred to hospice care as long as I will continue to see her. I told her i will be with her till the end, either her end or mine. lol. I had my first visit with her today as her friend instead of her nurse and it was such a blessing. She hadnt had any breakfast or coffee yet but she was cleaned and dressed with her hair brushed because hospice provided a caregiver to come in and help, thank the Lord. I made her a cup of coffee and gave her a little breakfast, watered her dog and made sure he had food (I have been taking care of her dalmation, too ha), and we sat in her kitchen that surely has not changed since 1940 (the house is actually about 100 years old), and we talked. Not the usual medical questions, but about her life. It was an hour that I will treasure. I told her i had many questions for her and to find some old photos to show me next time I come. She hugged me and told me she loved me so much. That isnt something we did when I was her nurse. I said, "now isnt this better now that we can just be friends?". She absolutely agreed. She is a wise, strong, christian woman and I am honored to know her. Just wanted to share that with you all.
Possum, I will write to you on messenger. <3
Better go feed my crew,
Boo

I noticed tonight on tags on Me-tv that Barney had a car!
It looked to be a Hudson or Nash, but I thought Mrs. Lesh's
car was his first.? Curious, curious. :)
